WIW before I disappear...

I will be completely absent for the next week. Not that I was very active lately anyway but I am leaving for a business trip on Sunday morning and I am afraid I won't be even able to check the blog!
So I am throwing in my WIW for the last 2 weeks before I am off to pack...

Debut of my new burgundy Naya booties. The light was not the best - can you see my burgundy colored tights too? :-)

This is one outfit I felt good in until I saw a picture afterwards. I envisioned these cropped trousers to play well with tall boots but alas, their length is not right. They should have been a bit longer or shorter to clear the top of the boots completely. As is they got caught in the boot tops all the time and drove me crazy...Also I liked the t-neck with this leather jacket in the mirror but I am not sure about them together in the picture. Too preppy?BTW, these are my old boots I have cleaned some time ago and posted about :-) Not exactly like new but much better I think.

pic 3
I liked this one, the only problem was that I was too cold in this "hole-y" sweater with just a cami underneath :-( These are my new Paige Skyline straight jeans I bought in summer with Jonesy - their first time out!

pic 4
One of those very simple outfits I feel good in. If you cannot see it the tank I am wearing on top of the shirt is silver lurex.

pic 5
I was in a playful mood for a polka dot skirt! I tried to wear pearls with this outfit but then Angie's "arm candy" post came to mind. I have never worn a bracelet and a ring together before, they seemed like too much. This time however I liked it - go bold or go home! I put on earrings too but they felt like too much so it was just the arm candy for me that day.

pic 6
I love my wide leg trousers! Every time I wear them I feel like I can take on anything! Speaking of which maybe I should pack them for my trip, which is going to be a handful...:-)

Sorry for the post and run and I apologize in advance if I won't be able to reply for the comments. My plane is leaving at 6AM on Sunday and tomorrow is going to be chock-full day of getting ready for it.
See you in a week!

WIW and W(here) I('ve) B(een) on my mini-vacation

I took a couple of days of from my craziness at work and hubby and I spent 4 wonderful days in Prince Edward County. We have never been there before - and what a beautiful and peaceful place it is! The weather was gloomy and rainy for the first two days but even then we had some glorious sunny moments - and the last 2 days were gorgeous!
My orchid trench and red jeans really helped to lift the gloomy weather on the first day - eve sun came out in the end :-) I also found that combat boots are very handy for walking in the high sandy dunes - no sand gets inside. BF jeans are very practical for charging around parks and little villages and nothing can beat the comfort of a relaxed sheath dress with leggings and tall boots while still looking pulled together!
We also were lucky to be there during a 3 day art tour when you can visit local artists' studios, so much fun - especially when it is raining outside!
#4 was taken in Sandbanks provincial park where sand dunes tower to 30 meters above you and go for miles!
#5 was a view from our cottage - isn't it beautiful?
#6 was made in a winery with a stunning view of the lake - amazing place and they make an ice cider - yum!
Oh and ice cream! The best ever ice cream in Bloomfield - home made in small batches from local fruit. This was black raspberry flavor - and note how it matches my trench and the chair I sat in! :) Another cool ice cream flavor was rhubarb ginger - with real ginger inside, fresh and caramelized. But the coolest one was apple pie flavor ice cream - when they take home made vanilla ice cream and dump several real apple pies into it - oh my goodness, it is to die for... Can you tell that ice cream was a highlight of this trip and we drove 20 min to this village for it EVERY DAY!

Thank you for sharing my wonderful mini-vacation with me - it is much more fun if you can share it, right? :-)

WIW - possibly the last week of summer?

My work is still as crazy as ever and my energy level is very low. The worst thing is that it is going to continue this way for at least 6 weeks :-( As you see I am trying to excuse my very sporadic presence on the forum these days...
I almost skipped this week WIW again but in the end decided to do it - just to keep myself motivated. So here we go:
pic 1
Trip to a local nursery on a cool and rainy Sunday. I guess this is my most casual version of BF jeans outfit to day. I don't know if these combat boots work with them or not bu they were just the right footwear for lagging heavy pots around in wet sand and mud. BTW BF jeans are just the right level of comfort for this activity! Also these are my son's aviator glasses I am trying on - what do you think? I tried to hint that they look better on me than on him but to no avail...:-)

pic 2
It is really getting hard to get decent outdoor pictures after work - and soon it will be impossible. I need to find a better place for taking indoor pictures in winter...
I am still learning which footwear works with white trousers. Most often I paired them with nude sandals in summer and now trying to find which booties can work with them. For some reason I prefer a low contrast footwear with them..like these leopard booties. I wonder how much longer into the fall I can wear these trousers...

pic 3
We had a business casual day at work -step up from our usual casual. This is the first time I paired this long blazer with a skirt - what do you think? You cannot see it but the top is silver lurex as I wanted a low contrast top with the jacket to play with this bold skirt. Red shoes is my personal rebellion against going completely neutral :-)

pic 4
I think denim shirt is too stiff for a successful semi-tuck but I really feel too self-conscious with a full tuck and trousers unless they are wide-leg. That dreaded rear view again! Also I have no idea what is going on with mu hair here - I guess I am due for a haircut again...

pic 5
This is my son's shirt which he did not wear because of the french cuffs. Well I love french cuffs so I snatched this shirt. My only complain is that fabric is not crisp enough so it looks more casual. Anybody knows where can I find a nice quality long shirts with french cuffs?

pic 6
Another BF jeans day! I really like to wear them with my white classic blazer. I had such a hard time to decide on the top here! Somehow I don't feel these jeans with black, feels too heavy for this light faded wash. Also this jacket is a bit snug in the sleeves so it is hard to wear long sleeve tops with it. This limited my choice of tops pretty much and after agonizing for 15 min I decided to wear this purple tie-neck shell. I think it works here, no?

I feel like I am done with summer now and summer dressing is not exciting for me anymore. I am ready for the fall dressing now!

WIW - and a new accidental formula for my BF!

I had a couple of repeat outfits this week but decided to post them all anyway - that't the rules of the game I play with myself!
pic 1
I had a very busy weekend and slept in on Monday. That morning called for FFBO and I wanted to wear my white clams while it is still summer. At first I put on my silk teal tunic but at the last moment discovered a stain on it! This is what I ended up with due to emergency dressing.

pic 2
I like my denim jackets but wanted to wear something different with this skirt. This sky blue cord jacket is cropped enough for skirts and light enough for summer weather - and I have to have a coverup in the office. I was afraid that black skirt will be too heavy for a mid-blue jacket and decided to wear a white top to sften the skirt further - I guess white pattern on the skirt helps too because I liked how it all turned up. This wide black fabric belt came with my red Donna Morgan dress and it is very comfortable to wear - and have a faux snake texture!

pic 3
I need an honest opinion about this outfit. Do you think booties work here? Is full tuck works for me with these trousers? I like the soft grey of the trousers and soft purple of the shirt together. Well, trousers are actually black and white micro-check but they read like grey. What do you think - fab or drab or just meh?

pic 4
A date with my boyfriend! Inspired by Angie's post I decided to try a full tuck with this blouse - thankfully it is long enough to stay tucked. However it is not fitted so I have a bit of volume going on on top here. I am cold in the office and need a topper with a thin blouse like this. I tried my white blazer but somehow it did not sing to me. As usual I was running late so I grabbed a long grey cardigan to throw over when I sit at my desk if I get cold. It was a surprise - I liked how it looks together with a soft blouse and BF jeans! I think I found another BF jeans formula I like - soft blouse or crisp button down with a long BF or cascading cardigan. I am not a fan of cardigans but this look appeals to me. Am I crazy?

pic 5
Today was over 30C so a light dress was in order. This is another repeat outfit but coral and blue together cheer me up!

That was my week - and thanks for looking. Any suggestions for improvements are greatly appreciated - and please give me your opinion on #3!

My old "new" boots (reporting back)

Recently I asked your advice if I need to retire my old tan boots or they can be saved:
http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....-save-them
The verdict was to save and get them restored so I took them to cobbler this week. She was not overly enthusiastic and doubted she can do much for them because the leather is very distressed and pretty much unfinished. She said that cleaning is all she can do and cannot guarantee the result so I decided to try it myself. I bought a bottle of cleaner they use there and a couple of days ago gave it a try.
It took me 2 tries and 3/4 of the bottle but I think their state is much improved. Now I need to buy a leather conditioner which I can use on unfinished leather and then spray them. I think they can have a couple of more seasons in them - what do you think?
Pictures on the left are old boots, pictures on the right are "new" boots...in case you cannot figure it out :-)
