WIW - and a new accidental formula for my BF!

I had a couple of repeat outfits this week but decided to post them all anyway - that't the rules of the game I play with myself!
pic 1
I had a very busy weekend and slept in on Monday. That morning called for FFBO and I wanted to wear my white clams while it is still summer. At first I put on my silk teal tunic but at the last moment discovered a stain on it! This is what I ended up with due to emergency dressing.

I like my denim jackets but wanted to wear something different with this skirt. This sky blue cord jacket is cropped enough for skirts and light enough for summer weather - and I have to have a coverup in the office. I was afraid that black skirt will be too heavy for a mid-blue jacket and decided to wear a white top to sften the skirt further - I guess white pattern on the skirt helps too because I liked how it all turned up. This wide black fabric belt came with my red Donna Morgan dress and it is very comfortable to wear - and have a faux snake texture!

I need an honest opinion about this outfit. Do you think booties work here? Is full tuck works for me with these trousers? I like the soft grey of the trousers and soft purple of the shirt together. Well, trousers are actually black and white micro-check but they read like grey. What do you think - fab or drab or just meh?

A date with my boyfriend! Inspired by Angie's post I decided to try a full tuck with this blouse - thankfully it is long enough to stay tucked. However it is not fitted so I have a bit of volume going on on top here. I am cold in the office and need a topper with a thin blouse like this. I tried my white blazer but somehow it did not sing to me. As usual I was running late so I grabbed a long grey cardigan to throw over when I sit at my desk if I get cold. It was a surprise - I liked how it looks together with a soft blouse and BF jeans! I think I found another BF jeans formula I like - soft blouse or crisp button down with a long BF or cascading cardigan. I am not a fan of cardigans but this look appeals to me. Am I crazy?

Today was over 30C so a light dress was in order. This is another repeat outfit but coral and blue together cheer me up!

That was my week - and thanks for looking. Any suggestions for improvements are greatly appreciated - and please give me your opinion on #3!

Sveta, as always, you wow me with your ingenuity. You always find a way to put things together that is a bit unusual and interesting. I am in awe of this ability of yours, to do it with such a compact wardrobe as well!

#1 is great and shows me that perhaps my "almost no jewelry" rule played against me this summer. The necklace (and two tone shoes) really make it. I wore similar outfits all summer and felt too plain and classic and even frumpy in the simple button down and shorts/clams. On the other hand, with no air conditioning, a necklace would have felt like a noose most of the time, so I should probably excuse myself a bit.

I LOVE #2 - what a clever pairing! Also adore your new BF's BF and think it works well. And of course you know I love the dress with jacket.

I am not entirely sure about #3. I love how the booties echo the colour of the shirt and how it's all soft and muted. But I also wonder if the colours all worn together that way are a bit washed out for your drama. This may be a trick of the monitor, however.

Three is so cute! That's my honest opinion :) It's my favorite of the five, actually. You look chic. And even taller than you look in the other pictures :p The shoes are fantastic. And the low contrast and low-key color scheme of the outfit makes them look effortless.

Four is also very cute! I don't think that look would work on everyone (extraordinary shorties like me, for example), but it looks great on you. It looks relaxed but not too relaxed. I love your choice to button the shirt up all the way.

Sveta, there's something about the way you carry yourself that's so classy and elegant :)

I would say #2 and #5 are my absolute favourites. Both have a bit of the soft/hard contrast with I think you wear very well. the peach colour (in both #1 and #5) is really flattering on your skintone and it almost gives you a slight glow and a bit of softness! it's an unexpected contrast with the edgy haircut!

#3: From what I'm seeing of you so far - you seem quite tall - however, I find that this outfit makes you look a lot shorter and imbalanced. You have 3 horizontal lines going: the belt, the mid-calf and the top of the booties. I don't find the distance between the 3 lines flattering or balanced. I'm a huge fan of the golden section/rule of thirds so I try, as much as possible, to divide the body up into 3 harmonious parts. Notice how #1 and #4 divides your body up almost evenly and harmoniously (#4 - the bf's are a bit long, but you wore a shoe that had a low vamp which elongates your legs)? i think if your capris in #3 are a couple inches shorter and you wore a pump instead of a bootie, the proportions would definitely work on you.

#4 I love the casual and relaxed look! I can definitely see the Angie inspiration, but I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE how you topped this outfit off with black peep toe pumps! Not only did the shoes have an elongating effect, it is so elegant! The soft blouse is also such an elegant touch to this outfit! You're really good at doing the soft/hard contrast!

#4 is pure genius - my absolute favorite. I am also quite fond of #5, but you always look fantastic!

  • Deborah replied 11 years ago

#3 is IMHO not quite right. To my eye there are too many vertical lines here and they are shortening you. Those boots are wonderful but I feel they are too high up on the calf to wear with these pants.

#4 is sensational! I think this is brilliant. It just works. Creates such an effortlessly stylish vibe.

And #2 is gorgeous:) Is this a new jacket? Color and fit is so lovely (can I see a tag dangling down?)

I love 2 and 4. I was thinking the other day of trying something like 4 and now I am going to experiment and see if I can get a look like that.

  • Kiwichik replied 11 years ago

    Fabulously stylish as always

  • krishnidoux replied 11 years ago

All your outfits her are A+'s in my book. I quite like #3 actually, it has a tough chic element yet relaxed by the soft colour. It is all at once bold and quiet, how do you do this?
#5 is my favourite, because it looks so balanced, so proportioned and colourful. All elements are simple but brought to a maximum effect. #4 is a chic twist of the BF, with delicate elements offsetting the rough BF for a perfectly trendy, feminine interpretation.

Know what? I would try swapping those Fab boots from pic 3 with the black sandal in 4.
As Deb. says they look a little high on the leg with the grey trouser.
I like the full tuck too!

  • Sveta replied 11 years ago

Echo, Kiwichick, Ceit - thank you!
Suz, I hear you on necklaces in summer. Honestly I almost never wear them with my summer casual outfits - exactly for the reason you stated.
Ariel and Katie, it is so funny that you see #3 in exactly opposite way - it makes me taller for Ariel and shorter for Katie. It is amazing how different our perceptions can be!
Deborah and Lyn D., I understand what you mean. Wearing these booties with cropped trousers was really not conventional choice but I really liked the unexpectedness of them. I hoped that low contrast with my skin trousers and very fitted ankle can work here...
No wonder I cannot make my mind about #3 as your opinions are divided too. I would be very curious to see what Angie says...

Love them all, but I wanted to give a special shout out to your popped collar in #5! I love the jacket with that dress.

  • Queen Mum replied 11 years ago

geesh! You are such the stylish creature!
I absolutely LOVE 2 and 4. LOVE! And I always enjoy seeing that coral dress in 5. That is such a cute dress on you!

  • Beth Ann replied 11 years ago

Looking terrific and using your wardrobe so fully, as usual, Sveta! These are all good looks, from the more conventional but very fresh #1, to the trendier 3 and 4. I love the unexpected, but graceful quality of #4. I'm not as convince of the booties in 3, although I love the shoes themselves. Sometimes the 2-D nature of pictures can fail to give the "whole picture." You are tall and lovely -- interrupting the vertical lines isn't going to be a crime -- you can a couple of inches to play with!

  • lynn replied 11 years ago

Ok, I LOVE every outfit except #3. I wish I could explain why I don't like it but I can't. It just look off to me. It might be the cut of the pants in combination with the booties but that's as close as I can get. Can't wait for Angie to weigh in. Love these learning opportunities so I hope she explains her reactions, positive or negative. You look amazing!

  • shiny replied 11 years ago

Love all -- including #3! Those booties are to die for!!

How would 3 work with a black leather jacket? I am curious.

  • merwoman replied 11 years ago

    You are a knock-out!
For me - #5 is perfection. You are drop-dead gorgeous in this outfit. Somehow the dress style and colour soften you - it just seems to pick up on your skin tones. Absolutely lovely.
I also love the pairing of the necklace and peach shirt in #1 - a beautiful combo.
#4 - I like the tuck - but I wonder how it would look if the tuck was a bit more "billowy: - maybe pull at it a bit so it has some nice draping and softens the line. With the strong horizontal stripe in the shirt I think it needs a little softening.

Another k-word worthy week for Sveta and her killer style :)

Your BF jeans are becoming my favourite item that you wear! And #3 works to the tee.

    Well done!

  • DeniseP replied 11 years ago

Sveta, LOVE all of these! Your styling creativity is amazing!
In pic 1, do you consider the yellow/white shoes your statement piece?
Pic 2 and 4 are my favorites. Also, I would never have dreamed to wear a cord jacket in the summer, but it works! The color is great and adds a punch to the outfits.
I know Angie has spoken on this, but did not like the bootie with the cropped pants too much. Love the outfit, but with different shoes.
You are an style inspiration to me!

  • texstyle replied 11 years ago

Always amazing! I like the last two the most. 3 is not quite right to me. I think it's the bootie line hitting your leg line that bothers me.

  • replied 11 years ago

I love all outfits. I think #3 is nice. Another awesome week!
