WIW - playing with volume

This was the last work week before holidays and the last week of the fall weather - our winter arrived right on cue on December 21 with wet snow and approaching snow squalls.

#1
I have already posted this outfit because I was not sure how this sweater works with the skirt. Although YLF verdict was "not frumpy" I still did not feel fab in it so I will not be wearing it again. However I think it was a useful exercise for me

Halogen yellow seamed ponte skirt
Franco Sarto grey boots

It was not cold but it was a gloomy day so yellow again to brighten my day. I felt much better about this outfit than about #1even though it is slouchy and not body con at all. Some people may see these as not the most flattering type of trousers but I feel great in them. Here I am practicing my catwalk for you LOL!
BR yellow turtleneck (love them! I so glad I listened to Angie and sized up)
Danier brown leather blazer
Long Tall Sally micro check slouchy trousers
MK animal print belt
Purple and green circle scarf from Nordstrom (Secret Santa's gift from Lisa)
Naya burgundy booties

#3
Still some volume in wide leg trousers but more tailored overall look. We had a company Christmas lunch that day so I decided to dress up. It was also a last dry day according to a forecast so I wanted to wear my wide leg trousers once more. Who knows, I may need to pack them away until spring soon!

Today was the first snow of the winter and pretty cold. I wanted to bundle up with a chunky sweater but decided to give another try to sweater + skirt look. I liked this version much better that #1 even though the sweaters are the same length. I think it is because this cream sweater is more oversized and chunkier that the striped one so it looks more intentional. Anyway this is the version I am going to repeat again in the future! :-)

WIW - one for Angie and one for Shannon!

I guess I am really recovering from my flu because I took WIW pictures every day - first time for the last 4 weeks! It feels great to be back to normal.

This is my new yellow Gap sweater I asked about last week. I decided to wear it on Monday because the day promised to be quite gloomy and I hoped this bright sweater will cheer me up - and it did. As you see I decided to keep it even if yellow is not my best color. If it makes me happy it is a reason good enough, no?
In pic 1 the sweater is its full length (on the right) and tucked in a bit in front to make it shorter - on the left. I wore it like on the left - which length do you prefer with this skirt?

Another experiment with stripes - I felt better about it than the day before. I wanted to wear my white shirt but it was in the wash so I went with this blue one with white collar and cuffs

I got this famous Gap sweater on Tuesday night, mulled over the weird neck fit on Wednesday and wore it on Thursday because I am on Team Wear! Shannon, do you recognize your trousers from Sears?:-) I sized up 2 sizes and wear them as low on my hips as they go to get that extra inch in length. No scrunch here for sure but really dropped and slouchy :-) I wish they were 2" longer - I let the hem out and gained about 1.5" in length but if they were 2" longer it would be perfect.
As this sweater is very warm and the weather was pretty mild I decided to go wild and wore my red cape with this outfit. A bit of cheating here - I did not use this clutch as it is not roomy enough to fit in all essentials I need for work but I thought it would look nice with this outfit.

This one is for Angie - midi skirt. Well, it is a midi dress with a sweater on top. I shortened this sweater by 2" and I like it better this way with skirts or layered over the shirts. I found myself reaching for black and white polka dot scarf very frequently this year. Both my scarves are summer weight chiffon so I think I really need to find a nice fine wool scarf in black and white pattern.

I find that I don't wear my necklaces as often as before. Earrings and ring is my only jewelery lately.

This was my week at a glance. It is nice to care about what I wear again!
Have a nice weekend!

A birthday present...almost

I ordered this dress almost a month ago and honestly gave up on ever getting it - and it appeared on my doorstep today, almost in time for my birthday which was yesterday.
Do you think it is a sign I should keep it? :-) I did not really like the print online that much but decided to try it anyway. However I like it IRL much better. The overall effect is pretty fresh and soft. It is a stretchy cotton summer dress and look - long enough to cover my knees!
It fits well in the hips but a bit too big on top. I am taking it to my mom and unless she says she cannot alter it I am keeping it.
This is not a K/R post - just wanted to share! :-)
