WIW: with the common theme of the wrong footwear

I may not be much on the forum for a little while. Between my aunt visiting, busy work and some health issues I am dealing now my time and energy are pretty limited. I will try to post my weekly WIW just to keep myself  on my toes style-wise but may not be able to comment much on the other threads and for this I apologize in advance.
These are my work WIW from the last week. The common topic for the most of them is the wrong footwear: I guess my heart was not completely in the dressing this week :-(
pic 1 The day was VERY cold (-29C with windchill) and I was running late so I opted for an easy and WARM formula of straight leg jeans and oversized sweater. I wore my shearling lined UGG boots outside and changed into those booties at work. I am not sure the booties were a good choice here, especially with a black bag. Oh well!

Paige straight jeans
Gap chunky sweater
David Tate booties
Danier black satchel

pic 2 Another even COLDER day (-39C with the windchill) and another bundling up. I usually don't tuck my slouchy trousers into tall boots because they get wrinkled but these plaid trousers are wrinkle resistant so they are great for tucking. The booties were carried to work again but I was dressing in a hurry in the morning so it was only at work that I noticed that those putty suede booties do not work well with light grey of the trousers. It is not so obvious in the pictures but IRL the mismatch of the greys was very pronounced. I shuddered every time I looked at my feet! Well, another lesson learned! At least I liked the dove bag with those trousers and top!

Orange / grey cashmere sweater - Winners
Plaid trousers - Banana Republic
Putty (greenish taupe) suede booties - Sam Eldeman
Danier dove satchel
Silver belt from the discount store

pic 3 It warmed up a bit so I was brave enough for a dress. Paired my cobalt moto with polka dot sheath dress and flat boots: hopefully de-bombshelled it enough without getting into frumpy territory. For once footwear choice felt right here.

Dress - Jones New York
Moto jacket - Gap
Blondo tall boots
Danier silver tote

pic 4 I would be happy about this outfit if I liked my black booties better. They are the only black booties I have (their 4th season now) and I like them less and less every time I wear them. I guess the shootie height combined with chunky heel and tough straps just are not me anymore. I wonder if it is  time to say good bye even though they are still in a good shape and I don;'t have other black booties.

Only Mine polka dot sweater - NAS
Cobalt Martin trousers - Banana Republic
Cream snake belt
Danier black satchel
Clarks black booties

I did not even take a picture on day 5 as I was sick half the night and just threw on a t-neck, jeans and booties before leaving for work. Was not even up to applying makeup that day! I felt so bad that I also decided to skip the company party that evening so I did not get a chance to wear the outfit I asked your advice about here :-(

So this was the last week and I hope this week will turn up better....at least I am much more careful about my footwear choices this week :-)
Thank you for looking and as usual all comments and suggestions are very much appreciated.

Sveta, so sorry that you are not feeling well! I hope it is nothing serious. Please try to take good care of yourself.

A person would never guess there was a thing "wrong" with any of these fab outfits. I actually love #1 as is; #2, I must take your word about the booties because they look fine in the photo -- but in any case, what inspired styling to put the grey and orange striped sweater with your BR plaid pants! Meanwhile, the cobalt moto is super fab on you, and so are the cobalt pants. As for your new bags, it was obviously the correct decision to get them both.

ETA check Angie's thread to Janet.

  • deb replied 10 years ago

I hope you are feeling better. Love all of them but #2 is great.

  • MuseumGal replied 10 years ago

My goodness, your "wrong" footwear choices are better than my "right" ones.  These all look great, but every time I see that cobalt moto I sigh with longing ...

  • Catnip replied 10 years ago

The footwear looks OK to me.  The color of the booties in #2 looks fine and I can't see what's wrong with the black booties in #4.  I especially like outfits #3 and #4 because you look so good in cobalt.

    Please get well!

  • JAileen replied 10 years ago

I don't see anything wrong with the shoes. Your blue jacket is positively luscious!

  • kellygirl replied 10 years ago

I think you are being too hard on yourself. You look SO incredible in all of these. Love the orange striped sweater with the plaid pants. Total fun. Adore your cobalt moto too. YLF. Hope you are feeling better soon!

After reading your intro I was expecting some less than stellar, "off" outfits.  But Sveta, AYK?

     (Are you kidding?)

Sometimes I think we get so knowledgable here that are standards are too high.  Or we imagine flaws that aren't there.  Because seriously everything looks professionally styled here.

  • carambola replied 10 years ago

I looked at the pictures first and could not for the life of me figure out what was wrong with the footwear in any of them. After reading what you wrote, I can certainly relate to liking an item less with each year and feeling that a color is off, but from here, you look seriously amazing in every one of these outfits! I particularly love #2 - what a fun, fresh, and fantastic combination.

  • catgirl replied 10 years ago

Suz nailed it. I can't see a thing wrong so I will have to go with your feeling. Your "off" days are better than my good days, honestly! I love the first and last outfits especially.

  • rae replied 10 years ago

All the footwear looks lovely to me! So sorry you are feeling unwell. Rest up and get better! XO

  • Aquamarine replied 10 years ago

Gosh I agree with CocoLion...you look so good. Maybe your illness is making you delusional :-) because you are being too hard on yourself. I wish I looked half this good when I am sick.

  • Sarah A replied 10 years ago

Sveta, i am sorry you are not feeling well. I agree with other fabbers in saying you look sensational. You may not be feeling the footwear for yourself any longer, but an outside observer wouldnt notice anything amiss.... Hope you feel better soon :)

  • Neel replied 10 years ago

I am so sorry you are feeling down.  Hope you feel better soon.  You look stellar in each outfit IMO and its really how we feel that makes or breaks an outfit I guess :) I love 1 for its simplicity.  Simple outfits always make me feel better on a bad day!

  • Jaime replied 10 years ago

Agree that these are some fabulous "off" outfits. I actually love #2 despite what you saw as footwear mismatch. They all look terrific to me!

  • merwoman replied 10 years ago

    Hope you are feeling better!
And to be honest, I was so knocked out by the fabness of your outfits, the gorgeous bags, that I had to backtrack and read the post and re-examine the photos for the footwear. The taupe in #2 (divine outfit!!) reads more grey on my screen, but they definitely all work. I think your esthetic has developed to the point where you  immediately see what could be improved. Am thinking you have a pair of grey/white snake booties- did you try them on as well?

  • In My Joi replied 10 years ago

As always Sveta you look fabulous! I can relate to the change of circumstances that you described. :( I hope you feel better soon- XO

P.S. No 2 is my favorite. The orange and the grey look fantastic together and I love the textural differences :)

  • Janet replied 10 years ago

I see no footwear issues, just Sveta fabulousness. :-) I hope you are feeling better and get to enjoy the time with your aunt.

  • Transcona Shannon replied 10 years ago

I hope things get easier for you quickly Sveta and that your health issues are not serious.

These are all stellar outfits - AGAIN! I actually think the animal print booties are perfect with the first outfit. They provide a bit of pattern and work brilliantly with both the cream sweater and the black bag.

And that cobalt jacket is positively delicious on you - my goodness!

  • Windchime replied 10 years ago

Sveta, you continue to be an inspiration to me with your outfits! You look amazing in anything cobalt, and you're using your new bags wonderfully well. Very sorry to hear about the health issue and hope it resolves quickly. Enjoy your time with your family.

  • Thistle replied 10 years ago

Well, I am not sure what you see that is "wrong". I like them all, but I am in love with #4!!  I love that sweater paired with cobalt!

I am sorry that you are not feeling well, and I hope it is nothing serious. Please try to take good care of yourself.

  • replied 10 years ago

Oh Sveta, I hope you are feeling better soon. You look gorgeous in all of these. I love seeing how you combine items into your looks.

  • Angie replied 10 years ago

Good grief, I cannot take my eyes off #2. THAT is hectically brilliant. Killer to the power of Killer.

Of course, you look like a million bucks everyday, Queen Trousers. I will go back and answer your booties questions shortly back on the post.

  • Emily replied 10 years ago

I hope you feel better soon.  You look lovely - especially with the layered sleeves in #2.  Gorgeous.  I'm glad to see that both the dove and black satchels are getting some wear-time, too!

  • Sveta replied 10 years ago

Thank you all for good wishes and kind words - YLF is the best!
I am glad you liked #2. When I bought this sweater last year I had hard time wearing it but then I hit this formula for it which I really like. As for the mismatching booties color: it is really not as visible on the screen like IRL but this taupe is the wrong tone for the rest of the outfit. You may be right and I am too picky now but things like this do bother me. Or maybe I am extra cranky because I don't feel well? :-)

[ Suz, I did check Angie's jacket thread for Janet and even replied there :-) You are a sweetie for thinking about me!]

Angie, K2K is always welcome even if I think the booties were off. :-) Thank you so much for answering my question on the post!

  • Joy replied 10 years ago

Sveta, your well edited closet is working so well even in the dark and when you are not feeling well. Each outfit is wonderful on you, but the second one blew me away! I hope you are feeling well again and can enjoy your week.

  • Beth Ann replied 10 years ago

Sveta:  Take care of yourself!  Hope you feel better soon!

I really like the booties in #1!

#2 is amazing -- and I have a poison eye for orange, so that's saying something!

#4  The booties are fairly classic, with an almond toe.  I think they're still flattering and look good.  However, another pair wouldn't be overkill with your wardrobe and climate.  Happiness is particularly important with basic items like booties!

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 10 years ago

These outfits are all fab, and #2 is breathtaking. I love the footwear choices; the animal print booties and black bag with outfit #1 are terrific, in my view! I know what you mean about taupe booties and gray trousers. I have a similar combo that I think looks fine in some lights but not so great in others--although I will say my eye has adjusted so I just wear them together now, because I like the styling of them together.
I like your cobalt and polka dot outfits--how fun that you did basically a negative version of yourself with the dots on successive days!
