WIW: to start a new year

These outfits are from the first week of January. As you can see I have repeated quite a few items there - why not!

pic 1 Cropped vest
I have finished knitting this chunky cropped vest (inspired by Angie's vest from Club Monaco) and promptly wore it the same day to a friend's birthday party with Gap BF shirt and Kut plaid jeans. Fun!

pic 2 "Skirted leggings"

Worn to work on January 2 - I did not feel like working that Friday at all so comfort was in order. I also tried to play with "skirted leggings" look from Angie's ensemble post and this Calvin Klein tunic and NYDJ ponte pants was the closest I could come up with from my closet.

pic 3 Cropped vest - again

That was another attempt for a cropped vest - this time to work. The shirt is shorter here - and I think I prefer this vest with a longer shirt (like in #1). It was snowing that morning so skinnies tucked into tall boots was a necessity.

pic 4 Moto meets culottes

Another work outfit. This time dark neutrals with a dose of cobalt to cheer me up - actually the same palette as in #2...hmmm, interesting! This is the first time I wore cullotes and boxy moto together - works?

pic 5 Boyfriending with Missoni

I got this Missoni for Target tunic in 2011. I wore it a lot for a couple of years with skinnies and tall boots but last year it was mostly idle in the closet as I was not feeling tunic + skinnies outfits as much as before. This is my attempt to rejuvenate it and make it feel more current to me. Black turtleneck is layered under this sleeveless tunic with my long gilet on top. I thought of wearing my Madewell skinnies with this outfit but accidentally grabbed Paige BF jeans instead and did not realize this until I was out of the door. In the end it may have been a lucky mistake as BF jeans feel fresher with this look than skinnies would - or am I kidding myself?

As usual all comments and feedback are very much appreciated.
Thanks for looking and have a great week!

I LOVE #2 & #5 you look amazing in cobalt blue.

#5 #5! They are all so chic. You make me long for a turtleneck neck.

I love #5.  You look amazing in all of the outfits.

Also love #5! The short vest looks best to me in the work outfit, you look great in the long vest over tunics too!

Count me in as a fan for #5. I think the BFs were a happy accident. The drape in this outfit is amazing and I love that your legs get in on the action. Visually stunning.

And I am really loving the cream over white in 1 and 3. This is making me rethink a sweater I have. Thanks for the inspiration, Sveta!

What a fun accident in #5! It works surprisingly well. Talk about a layering queen -- turtleneck, tunic, vest, all over BFs! I like the way the BF roll plays with the grey bag. And that is what you get for dressing in the winter dark! :)

That knitted vest is amazing!! I cannot believe how clever you are!

#5  for me as well! The outfit is so modern and so distinctly you!!

Your new knitted vest is a terrific addition to your wardrobe and looks warm and chic. I'm very impressed that you made it yourself.

Your #2 gives me an idea for a sweater dress I recently got at Target. You do look amazing in cobalt!

I always enjoy--and learn from-- your remixes of your wardrobe items. Thanks for posting.

You are so artistic in your outfits ... I really love that vest!

Another Sveta treat! I love your handknit vest!! Looks so great with the white in both outfits. And the cobalt moto with the culottes is brilliant. You made a nice choice with the Paige jeans - totally works and looks fresh. Fantastic as usual :) :)

I just about fainted when I saw #5, Svetlana. Killer to the power of Killer. SO CHIC. That grey gillet is one of my favourite items in your wardrobe.

And how clever are you to knit your own sleeveless cropped cream pullover. I'm impressed, and waving at my twin. YOU ARE SO FAB. xo

Wow is the Missoni based outfit ever fantastic! Happy accident indeed:) And I have to say I prefer the knitted vest over the shorter blouse, and not because of the length but just because that shirt is a little crisper and more structured looking at the collar . The length isn't noticeable in the photos. This is the one thing that bugs me about the short sweater over long shirt look: the inevitable wrinkling of the shirttails. This second version looks great! And ...lastly that cobalt blue jacket and the culottes? Stunning! What a closet you have !

Thank you ladies. I am happy to hear that BF jeans in #5 were really a happy accident.

Angie, K2K was definitely not expected there. I was thinking if it is time to purge the Missoni tunic and decided to try some new outfits with it...looks like hit a jackpot!:-)

    Lisa
, I hear what you say. The shoter shirt is non-iron so it is crisper than the Gap one in #1. I need to try the same look with my AT white tunic to see how I like it. Good point - I do fing the shirttails on this Gap shirt pretty RATE so out of my comfort zone. Too bad becuase it has a great length for me :-(

And thank you all for approving my new knitted vest. I knitted a lot when  was a teen and in my 20s but after moving to Canada 16 years ago I have not done it. This was my first attempt after 16 year hiatus - I had to shcek Internet for instructions how to do the simplest stitches! :-)

Omg. You knit the vest? That's the most fabulous ever. Outstanding.

The cropped knitted vest is FABULOUS Sveta - love that "short over long" look on you.
