WIW: last week of October

It is the last week of October and no snow - yay! It has been a good autumn so far and leaves turned beautiful colors so I am trying to enjoy it while I can.
This outfits are mostly from items from the last year or earlier with a couple of new(er) things thrown into a mix. Except of #1 every other outfit was worn to work.

#1 Farmer market and gym run on Saturday
The plaid Kut jeans are from this year NAS, the rest is older: Danier leather jacket, Banana Republic turtleneck, Sam Eldeman Petty booties. The belt is golden sparkle from Winners

#2
Soft Edge for work
Everything is more than a year old here. My mom altered these Express flare trousers so I can wear them again. Somehow I have hard time what to pair them with, maybe I need to do a trial run? Here I have tried to keep the trousers, belt and booties in similar tones for a softer effect. Mini-stripe shirt and cream jacket also add to the soft look.
Brooks Brothers mini purple stripe shirt, Danier leather moto jacket, Sam Eldeman Petty booties, Danier silver tote, cheap snakeskin - like belt.

#3 Culottes - you cannot stop with just one!
Again  - everything is at least a year old here. These grey culottes were wide leg sailor pants in their earlier life (see pic 6). I am enjoying my cream culottes so much that I decided to make another pair out of those wide legs. I hope this worked out - I enjoyed wearing them that day. I decided that I will get much more wear out of culottes than out of wide legs because footwear heel height and weather restrictions are not applied anymore! Like midi skirts midi-length culottes are most flattering with heels - I rebelled here and wore them with leopard loafers. I decided that the cool vibe of the shoes should compensate for the unflattering factor.
What do you think?
Danier satchel, Banana Republic turtleneck, Danier leather blazer, Vince Camuto loafers.

#4 Navy, Burgundy and Pink(ish) Panther (all oldies)
I like the color of this burgundy dress and its pleated midi skirt. It also has sleeves! However I have hard time wearing it on its own because of the deeper v-neck neckline (I was not that style-savvy 3 years ago when I got it): it does not do anything to my small and bony chest. To fix that I layered a navy sweater over it for a relaxed look. I toyed with scarves and necklaces for a bit because the sweater felt too plain here but in the end decided to go with statement booties instead.
Donna Morgan dress, JCrew Tippi sweater, Danier tote, David Tate booties.

#5 Plaid and Tux

The sky is falling down - I am wearing a plaid shirt and loving it! This is The First Plaid Shirt I really feel - I think it has to do with a pattern with a lot of white in it but also with the fact that fabric feels soft and luxurious and therefore less casual. Thank you Angie for this find! My only complain is that I would prefer it to be at least an inch longer - oh well...
So how did I do for my first EVER plaid shirt outfit? I decided to pair it with cream jeans and white studded belt to echo the white in the shirt and with burgundy booties to echo the red in the shirt. Rolled jeans for BF effect and added a dressy tux jacket for juxtaposition. Hopefully it was not a failure...because I liked it :-) I wore the collar open during the day but here is a picture with it buttoned up to the top - what is your preference here?
LLBean plaid shirt, Banana Republic tux blazer, Banana Republic cream skinny jeans (VERY relaxed), Danier tote, Naya burgundy booties...other than the shirt everything is at least a year old or older.

As usual all comments and suggestions are very much appreciated - thanks for looking! Happy Halloween!

These are all fab, but the two with plaid are AMAZING! That LL Bean shirt is just gorgeous on you and with the tux jacket? Fantastic. I'm with you about the white. The plaids that are really killing me this year all have a lot of white. It looks so fresh.
    Well done!

  • Suz replied 9 years ago

Sveta, you are drop-dead gorgeous in every one of these, as well as extremely clever. Where do I start with the fabness?

#1 is just killing me. And I need to copy it as soon as I rejoin the land of the living.

#2 is soft a lovely. The pants almost look taupe here, paired with the lavender shirt.

#3 what a brilliant snip of the scissors! I agree with your reasoning 100%. In our climate there is all too little time to enjoy the long wide pants -- but culottes are another matter and could work through much of the winter. This outfit is fabulous, and with your height you can carry these slimmer culottes with the flats, I think. Love the bookending.

#4 Yet another brilliant save. Now you have a gorgeous burgundy skirt.

#5 is K squared, in my view. Absolutely stellar!!! I so wish they still had that shirt in the XXS. Gorgeous on you. Of course once a girl gives into plaid pants, plaid shirts can really not be all that far behind....and here is proof! :)

  • Jaime replied 9 years ago

Wow Sveta, where to begin? You are could be an ad in a fashion magazine in #1. The top in #2 is gorgeous on you. I love that you made your own culottes and am besotted with the combination with yellow, particularly without the jacket. The sweater over the dress is brilliant. You have found your plaid shirt and it is perfect. In sum, you have great style!

  • jackiec replied 9 years ago

Plonk!!! Love love love the plaid shirt on you! It is perfect! Wow - well done - isn't Angie a genius? I should see what kind of a plaid shirt she could pick for me....

All other outfits are awesome. I just love those animal booties with the red skirt! Unexpected and fab, fresh :) :) :)

Oh and those plaid pants. Love. And your yellow top outfit reads lovely and fallish.

You are so inspirational. Sorry my comments are all over the map :)

Gorgeous outfits, Sveta. #5 is my favorite. I have/love that shirt too : ). Terrific bookending with the booties and the burgundy in the plaid. #4 is very elegant.  #3 has very clever pattern bookending. Love the others as well. You are a very stylish gal.

  • Joy replied 9 years ago

You have heard it before, but you really do look like you are a model in a fashion magazine. I want to try a version of 5. Your grey culottes are wonderful and I love the leopard loafers with them.

These are all gorgeous outfits on you, Sveta. You are so clever at creating beautiful, unique outfits. The soft tones are terrific with your altered trousers (outfit 2). Love your repurposed culottes, and yes, those flats look fantastic, echoing the leopard in your scarf. Great save on the dress! I thought, what a pretty skirt! and then I read that it's a dress. The booties really add a lot of fun to the outfit. And count me as another an of your plaid outfits. The idea of wearing a tuxedo blazer over the plaid shirt is again so surprising, and it looks great. I like the shirt buttoned both ways.

One is an amazing look! I also love 4.

  • Deb replied 9 years ago

You have wonderful personal style and taste Sveta.....and you wear your clothes so well. #1and #5 are my favourites today and I really admire your choice of colour combinations, styling and accessorising. Well done!

  • dianne replied 9 years ago

Wow, I can only echo what everyone else has already said, you look absolutely gorgeous in every outfit!! I don't even have a favourite because they all looked so good!!!

  • Tanya replied 9 years ago

Wow Sveta, I do not even know where to start. everything looks amazing.  I love the colors, and your choice of the right footwear with each outfit.  I especially like #5 with the plaid shirt, I will have to copy it with something similar.

  • krishnidoux replied 9 years ago

OK I seriously am crazy about these, especially pics 1 and 5. What style! You are so beautiful.
Your culottes are a hit, and I think you pull off the flat shoes in a very edgy, cute way.
4 is also cool, and I imagine it must be a lot of fun to wear too.
    Your outfits are so inspiring.
    You had a great week!

  • lyn67 replied 9 years ago

Wow for your rescueing projects! Great ideeas, all! My all time new faves are nr, 1,3,and 5! OMG, nr.5 is K2k, for sure!!!! Thanx for the inspiration! (not a fan of plaids ghere, but warming up slowly for them if could be  dreesed up so well, like shown here).

  • Lisa replied 9 years ago

I am stuck on the plaid shirt, what a great look!  I've been eyeballing plaid shirts but none have really spoken to me yet.  This one is lovely paired with the cream jeans.

  • Angie replied 9 years ago

A PLAID SHIRT ON SVETA WHO VOWED SHE WOULD NEVER WEAR ONE.

I need to recover before I comment further on your killer outfits.

  • Eliza replied 9 years ago

Swooning. Thought they were magazine photo shoots. I have the Kut plaids and must borrow what you do with them. So sophisticated!
The plaid shirt with jacket and white denim is another fave. Culottes work well and always liked your gray trouser. Great outfits across the board.

  • Meow replied 9 years ago

Love the variety of silhouettes. Inspiring!

  • Sveta replied 9 years ago

Thank you so much, your comments just made my day today! :-)
I am glad that my "new" culottes got approval with these flats: I was not sure if it looked as good as I thought.
Zibbets, I also think that white in the pattern is the key for a plaid shirt (for me anyway).
Suz, the pants in #2 are actually grey taupe color - I am thinking of you when I wear them :-) I know you of all people would understand my culottes-out-of-wide-leg-pants reasoning! ;-)
Jackie - Angie IS a genius!
lyn67, I was not a fan of plaids myself (see Angie's comment) but I am a convert now. I think the key is to find the right plaid for your style.
Angie, - chucking! I kind of hoped for this reaction! :-)

  • Angie replied 9 years ago

I'm chiming back to say that #5 HAS to be my fave because you're wearing a plaid shirt. WOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

But #3 blows it out of the ballpark. Killer to the power of Killer. And nice wide leg hem alteration by Mama Sveta. xo

  • replied 9 years ago

Love them all...but question: the animal print shoes, are they from Norstroms, like the link? How is the fit, TTS? And, finally, are they comfortable? I have been looking for animal flats but not true flats, a small heel

  • Sveta replied 9 years ago

Angie, I am SOOO happy you approve the "new" culottes :-)
A, these loafers are from last year NAS - looks like they are not available anymore at Nordstrom. They are pretty comfortable and they fit a bit on the longer side and good for high volume feet. they do have a small 1" heel.

  • ElleH replied 9 years ago

All Fab Sveta. You look like a style blogger with that style & a model with your beautiful height. I like the plaid shirt unbuttoned best but both are fab. How does that shirt fit Sveta? Does it run large? I'm looking for modern fluidity but still want the shoulders to fit & don't want to be overwhelmed by it. I need it to tuck & fit under jackets too.

  • MsMaven replied 9 years ago

Love love the plaid shirt on you--perfect colors and perfect combination. It is possible that I may rethink my aversion to plaid, (other than scarves.)

  • replied 9 years ago

WOW! Sveta, you just keep getting better and better (hey that rhymed!). Where do I start?.. the plaid pants, the two tone tux, the plaid shirt, the refashioned culottes! What a way to see out October :)

  • replied 9 years ago

I did some sleuthing and discovered the same..thx Sveta. ..nice outfits

  • texstyle replied 9 years ago

Sveta - you have knocked it out of the park again - so fab!  Love the first outfit especially, but wow, really all are just great.

  • CocoLion replied 9 years ago

All beautifully syled.  #1 is also beautifully composed, you look like a blogger/model.  I never thought leaves could accessorize, but here they provide the perfect pop of color!

  • Sveta replied 9 years ago

Elle, the shirt does run large - I got size M and it is plenty roomy all around but shoulders are in the right place. It is very soft so it tucks well. I think I could have gone with S as well but I need the length (even in M it is not as long as I would like).
MsMaven, this is what I felt before too but I love it now.
Denise, I usually crop my pictures from the much of the surroundings but this time I decided that leaves deserve to stay! :-)
    Diane and texstyle - thanks!

  • Karie replied 9 years ago

Oh my goodness, I love all of these! My favorite - and I love, love, love this one - is the plaid shirt with white jeans in #5. Brilliant. And the wheels are turning as I'm trying to figure out how I can copy this immediately!
