WIW - seeing stripes!

I felt a bit better this week about I wore compared to my previous post:
http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....style-wise
Of course it was mostly due to YLF moral support - thank you all!
It is funny but stripes seem to be the topic of this week - and quite unintentional, honest!

I got a new snakeskin belt from my mom. It is a of white / taupe / purplish grey color palette and it is quite different from my other belts. Here it picks trousers color and looks like low contrast with them. At first I tried my cognac boots with those trousers but then low contrast python booties won over. I hope it is not a crime to have 2 snakeskin pattern items when they are in different color palettes...

My mom had a birthday and we went to a Hungarian restaurant. At first I wanted to wear my cordi cream cropped jacket with this dress but I though it does not work play with the riding boots so I went for striped cardigan instead.

Stripes again - this time "tuxedo: style! I tried these trousers with python booties as well but again low contrast won over. However I was not too happy during the day. The problem is that these trousers are on the short side and I wear them VERY dropped to add some length. I also wore black socks with those black shooties but still wanted the trousers be at least an inch longer. The small gap between the hem and shootie is not that visible in the picture but it was enough to drive me crazy, especially when walking. I think I will not wear these shooties with those trousers again - too bad because I liked the overall look.

That night I had a company party to attend and decided to debut my new winter white trousers. I tried this outfit with all jackets I own and decided on the brown leather as I liked proportions the best: all others were too short. It is amazing hoe pictures help you to see the difference - it was much more obvious in pictures than in the mirror!

After all this evening partying I felt pretty tired on Friday and decided to go quite casual. I wore almost exactly the same outfit in summer but with different footwear and was prompted to wear it again by Angie's post. I decided that I like the jeans rolled up better than rolled all way down so I wore sheer knee high socks and braved that winter day (OK, just kidding, it was +8C that day :-)

These are all just great, Sveta! My fave is #3 -- I love the warm tones of the leopard belt with the teal and gray and black! That's a shame about the booties and the pants not playing nicely together!

  • Isis replied 11 years ago

These all are fab Sveta! It's hard to pick a fave, but I like #1!

  • AJ replied 11 years ago

Wow, what a great week! Every outfit is a winner! You are an accessory expert, Sveta!

Double python in #1 looks very chic!

Luv the tuxedo pants in #3! I wish my Sears offered those pants. That teal color is gorgeous on you!

I enjoy any outfit of yours that has the Suzy Shier striped top in #5! That is such a FAB workhorse item!

Your hair looks FAB. Did you get a new cut?

  • annagybe replied 11 years ago

I really like them all, especially #5.

  • Beth Ann replied 11 years ago

OOOOH! Love them all. You're in high style this week, Sveta. #4 is so perfect for a work function. And I love the lippy, too!

  • MsMaven replied 11 years ago

#1 knocked my socks off--gorgeous. I love #4 also. Outstanding week for fashion, as well as for your makeup and hair.

  • Ginkgo replied 11 years ago

I love all of your outfits and actually your entire wardrobe! My favorites here are #1, 3 and 4.

  • ManidipaM replied 11 years ago

So glad to see you back in fine fettle and flying high in style, Sveta! :-)

I could hardly get past #1. Super awesome! Loved #3 next best, which makes the pants length *such* a pity because it looks so, so good, and then #2... And yay for the repeat party outfit. #5's turned up cuff uses the stripes to such good impact. Fun Friday dressing. What a GREAT week you've had!

And many happy returns of the big day to your mom!

  • replied 11 years ago

I love 3 -- too bad the pants weren't a teeny bit longer. I love the belt with the booties in 1.

  • kkards replied 11 years ago

love the snakeskin belt and shoes. and the half tuck!

and the pants in #3.... SEARS? i feel like you should be in one of those commercials they are running now...Sears everyone, i got the pants at sears.
i'm going to have to make an effort to check them out

  • Krista replied 11 years ago

They are all fab in my mind, Sveta. AJ said it right when she called you the accessories expert!

  • Suz replied 11 years ago

What a great week, Sveta! These are all beautiful -- and look at what you have done. They are all fairly neutral, and quite simple -- yet each is strong, striking, and unique.

What a shame about the shooties and trousers in #3. I have a pair of trousers like this too. I bought them in petite and sized up for slouch. So then I felt they were too short and had the hem let down...but they still feel too short and catch on the tops of booties. Oh well. Maybe they will become some sort of shorts in the warmer months...

I think my favourites here are 1, 2, 3. You are inspiring me to try something similar with my BR sweater. I think the two pythons play well together. I have a python belt along with the python booties, too, so I can do this!

  • Claudia replied 11 years ago

What a great line up of looks. YLF in every one of these outfits!

  • Atlantia replied 11 years ago

Looking good, Sveta! You do proportions so well. My favorite is #1.

  • Makrame replied 11 years ago

You look really great in all of these! Like your use of accessories and the nice semi-tuck that shows off the belts in 1, 3 and 4. The dress in #2 looks great on you, too!

  • krishnidoux replied 11 years ago

Lovely, lovely, lovely. I absolutely adore outfit 4, that is a great direction for you. Your height can totally carry the extra slouch and the end effect is elegant and refreshing. For this reason, the jacket is perfect in its material, shape and length. The soft sexiness created by your pants and black top is balanced by the biting clutch and bubbly, cheerful oversize pearls. And the jacket's leather is what the extra slouch and sensual, luxurious feel of this outfit calls for.

That snakeskin belt in 1 is fantastic, and especially how you have paired it with stripes. Perfect match. I am amazed at how well the snakeskin booties and belt work well on you, as well as the stripes on top. If it were me, I wouldn't wear both the snakeskin booties and belt together... because I am petite and doing so visually shortens me; stripes also widen me. But on you it's a different story, these items seem to respond to one another and you end up looking even taller than you are. Not fair!!! ;-)
I also love your hair right now, very distingué and chic .

Well the dress in outfit 2 is fantastic, but I am sorry, I don't like the cardi with it... so disconsolate, falling defeated on top of the cheerful dress now shadowed and broken hearted. IMO these two guys are not doing well together, and the culprit is the cardi's grey shade against the white dots. They loose vibrancy. The length, which I think would work in a sturdier material such as the one of a jacket, looks too long and too straight on the fluid moving material of the dress, seemingly imprisoning it in mourning. It doesn't help that the cardi's pockets are also emphatically crying outward, just at the hip level.

This cardi would do well in a more dramatic, distressed outfit such as a BF jeans, a roughened skinny jeans with statement boots or booties, over a contrasting colour, electric blue, cobalt, metallic gray tee shirt with some interest or even sequin. IMO.

Outfit 3, Now you're talking! Melodious, warm turquoise and sassy pants; sporty simplicity, city chic. I wonder what these pants would look like worn in their true vocation: higher at the waist, above the ankle, with ankle boots or booties with a heel. I think that paired with your leather jacket or another jacket that is short and with a bit of volume on top, it would look fab too. A bit like the silhouette in outfit 5. So love the boots there. Have you tried 5 with the cardi from outfit 2?

  • Kyle replied 11 years ago

I like the simplicity but visual interest you've created in outfit 1. The crispness of the stripes with the muted, non-crisp feel of the snakeskin. That really works to my eye. And you look great in the stripes. No. 2 is nice, too. Again, the individual items are simple, but you have created visual interest with the patterns. The black stripe on the sweater creates a nice vertical line. No. 3: Hurray! We are sweater twins. Lovely. Sveta, I have a pair of trousers with a black stripe up the side seams, and mine have a black band around the hem, too. Seems as though it would be easy enough for your mom to add a black band to extend the hem on these and make you feel more comfortable with the length? Four and five are brilliant, and I don't know how you can pull off those jeans cuffed above the booties that way -- I try it and, well, not so good. But you are runway-ready in all of these. I love your WIWs! Thanks for sharing...as always you are inspiring and beautiful.

  • Thistle replied 11 years ago

Wow, what an amazing week, Sveta! You look great in all of them. If I had to pick a favorite, I would say #4. I am hoping Danier moves into the US one day!

  • Day Vies replied 11 years ago

I have to be honest I love all of these looks. They are subtle (not a lot of bells and whistles to get maximum impact). #1 and #5 are my favorites. The mix of pattern and texture is perfection. Fit of course is a big factor with me and you nailed it. I have nothing more to add carry on!

  • Scarlet replied 11 years ago

Wow, these look so cool and so you it is hard to pick a favorite!

  • Angie replied 11 years ago

Your BEST round of outfits yet, Princess Trousers :)

    (*HUGE SMILE*)

    KILLER x5.

#1 and #3 have brought on a fainting spell.

    *faints*

  • Transcona Shannon replied 11 years ago

WOW - all absolutely fantastic Sveta with positively no tweaking required. Off to pin these for inspiration.

  • MNsara replied 11 years ago

You looked great all week, but GOSH you looked elegant for your company party!! I love those winter white trousers and how you had them narrowed. Your bravery paid off beautifully :-)

I hope your co-workers, customers, etc. that night noticed your confident glam!!

I appreciate your choosing the longer jacket too. I find myself less comfortable in my most cropped jackets. I think jackets ARE lengthening and my eyes are adjusting and appreciating when they hit lower. Or maybe it's because I'm wearing less dresses with jackets, where more cropped was better. . . ?

  • marianna replied 11 years ago

Wow, you are one gorgeous, stylish creature, Sveta.

  • Tina.b replied 11 years ago

You have a natural elegance that comes through in everything you wear. You are the master of stripes. These are all fabulous outfits! I'm pinning #1 for inspiration in an effort to overcome my reluctance to wearing stripes myself.

  • Lyn D. replied 11 years ago

Sveta, I adore those tuxedo-style trousers in #3, and the simple teal polo is gorgeous !
Always love your outfits, and I find myself semi-tucking my tops as you do so often- I think I will call it the 'Sveta-Tuck' from now on.
    All Lovely!

  • catherine replied 11 years ago

    You have amazing, amazing style.

  • Eliza replied 11 years ago

Sveta- So put together. You look elegant, yet fresh and contemporary, with a hint of effortlessness.

Part of it is the clothes and much of it is how well you carry yourself. Love your partial tuck and will have to study it further so I can borrow your technique. I hope my early 20's, six foot tall daughter can rock her height like this one day.

  • replied 11 years ago

I love #4 I think it's the pop of colour with the shoes

  • Jaime replied 11 years ago

Fantastic! I love #1 and #3 but they all look great!

  • Sveta replied 11 years ago

Thank you for the lovely comments ladies, they really made my day!
AJ, I am DUE to a new haircut LOL. Hopefully I can have it this week..k
kkards, it was Shannon who found these pants in Sears, I just followed in her footsteps. Luckily for Shannon she does not have any issue with the length unlike myself :-(
Suz, I cannot wait to see your version of BR sweater with snake accessories!
Wow Krish, you completely blew me away with your comment and amount of time and thought you put into it! Thank you very much!!! As for the cardi in #2: I think it does not photograph well.It is not grey but black and white stripe but they are always blurred in the pictures. I also thank you for the suggestion to try trousers from #3 as cropped: I will ask my mom if they can be tapered more and then I would be able to wear them as cropped length!
Kyle, do you have a picture of your trousers or can you link to them? I would love to see how they look with a black band on the bottom.
Thistle, my fingers are crossed that Danier will expand to US...
Day Vies, fit is very important to me as well, nothing makes me feel 'meh' like badly fitting clothes!
Angie, thanks for 'K' rating! You are truly a fairy god mother of my trouser outfits!
Sara, it may be an overall shift with cropped jackets for us: they just feel off to me now. It also maybe because I wore a lot of tunic tops with slinnies and boots before and cropped jackets felt right with tunics. I wear different tops and trousers this year and they don't play as well with cropped jackets...
Tina, I cannot believ that I did not have a single striped garment just 2 years ago and hated stripes. Now I cannot get enough of them!
Lyn D, LOL! You are welcome to borrow my semi tuck any time! I find it more flattering on lower rise trousers and curvier hips that a full tuck so it works for me.
Eliza, I hope your daughter can embrace her height and be proud of it. It is not always easy to be a tall gal but it has its own merits for sure :-) I wish I understood it in my 20s, it would spare me a lot of moral anguish...

  • stitchywitch replied 11 years ago

I like them all, but I really love #4 - those winter white trousers are fabulous!

  • moira replied 11 years ago

I've said it before, but it must really make the women you work with have to step up their game when you show up, day after day. looking this fantastic.
What an eye and a body for fashion that you have.

  • replied 11 years ago

Where have I been? How did I miss this? These are all knockouts Sveta!
and I can totally commiserate on the pant length .... ack....

  • Debora replied 11 years ago

There's no way I could possibly pick a favorite; each one is more amazing than the last. I am wowed!
