WIW - feeling like a shameless Angie's copycat...

This post is a bit short: I stayed at home sick on Wednesday so no outfit for that day (don't want to treat you to my old PJs :-)
It is getting pretty hot here and the dressing gets more difficult. All these outfits were fine for the morning and AC office but too hot for after 5PM commute home...:-(

pic 1
Very simple: white bermudas from Kut, indigo silk tunic from Le Chateau, nude cage wedge sandals from Franco Sarto. Silver cuff was the only accessory that day.

pic 2
A bit playful with patterned pencil skirt and waist-tie shirt.
skirt - Winners, magenta silk button down - Banana Republic, Born teal flats, glass heart necklace

pic 3
Slightly androgynous for a business casual day at work. I wore jacket in the morning only as it was too warm for it after that.
Gibson knit jacket - Nordstrom, light purple button down - Banana Republic, Express Editor trousers, old off-white studded belt from Winners, bone- silver slingbacks - Ros Hommerson. Interestingly I wore these shoes the same day Angie posted about white shoes :-)

pic 4
Completely dotty. Jessica Howard polka dot skirt via consignment, coral button down from Winners, nude Fidjis, wire necklace from a local boutique.

I think Angie has a HUGE influence over my style lately. Statement necklaces were a bit part of my style and here I am - leaving them completely off for half of the week.

Today for the outfit with my dotty skirt I tried on around 5 necklaces and was not satisfied. I went with this coiled wire one but had a huge inclination to go without any.
I think that Angie's latest minimal style kind of rubbing off me - completely unintentionally I must say but still... Sometimes I feel like a shameless copycat - no wonder I have hard time to articulate my style!

Anyway, that was my week at a glance. Any critiques and suggestions are very welcome as usual.
Have a nice weekend!

Sveta i hope you are feeling much better. I totally love the colors and shades in the suit outfit. The lavender looks great on you and the shades of grey. I really like this one and think I will favorite this to use as inspiration.

I like all of the outfits. The blue in one is gorgeous, the ladyllike polka dot skirt in 4 is so pretty. All great outfits.

Sveta, great outfits! #3 is STUNNING!!!! Absolutely love it (though this is right up my style alley, so I might be a *teensy* bit biased)! #4 is right behind it as second favorite. #1 is a great simple style - that blue is lovely on you. #2, the shoes don't feel quite right to me - maybe a bit too casual for the outfit? But I love the skirt and blouse!

Sveta, this was a great week for you and I hope you're feeling better! I think you know your style so well and I, too, often feel like a shameless copycat. But, you truly "own" these looks and that's why everything looks so natural on you.

#1 is cool and classic simplicity and

#2, with the patterned skirt and bright top is lovely and a trend I've also been gravitating to. I think I may have the same pair of Borns in lime green. So comfy.

Your androgynous style, in those light, sophisticated colors in #3, is an outstanding work look on you and more than casual to me IMHO; I see Angie's touch here and you were channeling her thoughts ahead of time by wearing the bone shoes! How cool.

Then, we come to Dotty in #4 and you totally blow my socks off (if I had a pair on!). Wow! The beautiful coral blouse and that gorgeous skirt are out of this world wonderful.

You have such a sophisticated style that moves from casual and business to feminine and flirty with such ease.

Dianthus, I was not sure how to style this lavender BR shirt - I am happy the first attempt was not a failure.
Christie, I deliberately went for flats in #2 to make a silk shirt more casual but maybe it was a mistake...
Vicky, "business casual" at my work means the most formal look because the regular dress code is not even smart casual - it is simply casual. :-).

We all take inspiration from Angie and each other. You have put your own stamp on these looks in a beautiful way. I love each look from the beautiful simplicity of #1 to the polish of the pants outfit to the fun with the colors in #2 and with the fan dotty skirt. Well done

  • christieanne replied 11 years ago

The tunic over the white bermudas is just my favorite. I know it seems simple but the lines and fit are perfection. Hard to do a simple, easy look well but you did! And I like your skirt/blouse combos as well for warm days. It doesn't look like the heat is getting the best of you at all really!

  • Scarlet replied 11 years ago

Awesome week, Sveta. You look stunning. Those crisp blouses are really suiting you.

  • CocoLion replied 11 years ago

I agree with the others, the tonal suit outfit is fabulous. Everything looks great here actually. I especially like #2 and hope you try the brightly colored tied shirt look with the dotted skirt. The dotty skirt is playful so the combination might be fun.

  • Irene replied 11 years ago

    in love with #1

  • Deborah replied 11 years ago

All gorgeous Sveta but #3 is standout. I think you have a very clear style. Certainly your inspiration at times is evident but that's not a bad thing. Lovely outfits.

I think copying is the sincerest form of flattery. You look great.

  • Laura replied 11 years ago

Sveta, you had a great week! I might shamelessly copycat your outfit #1 today :)

  • Sarah A replied 11 years ago

great week! I absolutely cannot pick a favorite. Both skirt looks are lovely and I love the pants and shorts. The deep saturated colors are super flattering with your skin and hair color.

  • replied 11 years ago

Well copying Angie suits you so I say go for it! I am crazy for the nude Franco Sarto cage sandals in the first picture (well I would be, but I can hardly see them, they are such a perfect nude)! I hope you get to wear them a lot this summer. I love you in all of these woven tops. So fab! I really can't pick a favorite, but I love the skirt/blouse looks so much. You look terrific in dots and coral, too!

  • Angie replied 11 years ago

I'm humbled to be of any outfit inspiration, Sveta. I do hope that you feel better soon.

This is what I think of outfit #3:

KILLER to the power of KILLER

The gal who had *such* a challenge with trousers is rocking them like they were made for her. Can you believe it!!! So fab :)

Loving #1 and #4 too. Those outfits are 11 out of 10.

  • replied 11 years ago

I love these looks, Sveta! Gotta admit I'm missing a pop of bright lipstick, though.

  • Suz replied 11 years ago

Gorgeous looks, Sveta. I especially adore #3 and #4. STUNNING!!!

I hope you are feeling better soon.

  • Jamie replied 11 years ago

You look fantastic in all of these outfits. And you are seriously rocking that trouser suit! Well done!!

  • Transcona Shannon replied 11 years ago

Good gravy woman - you got it going on! I'm positively swooning over outfit #3 and #4. If I could wear wide legged trousers like that in a soft colour palette, I would wear it every other day - positively gorgeous. And I love the pairing of the bright orange with the polka dot skirt and nude footwear.

  • ManidipaM replied 11 years ago

You are the mistress of the great skirt & separates outfits --- LOVE how you take two neutral patterns and add unexpected jolts of colour and pattern from both ends.

But... everything pales next to that awesome 'suit'. That is 100% stunning in its sophistication. Simply sublime.

  • krishnidoux replied 11 years ago

The last outfit is absolutely to die for. So inventive! Perfect, absolutely perfect footwear for this. I will copy you!!!

  • sarah replied 11 years ago

Sveta, I just love all of your outfits! And I covet your shoe collection. I'm feeling "off" in my footwear these days, and yours is just perfectly you!

  • Kari replied 11 years ago

Sveta, while I love your accessories, your "simpler" week is breathtaking. Especially the "dotty" outfit! You look stunning in coral. That Jessica Howard skirt really reminds me of a navy and white Kate Spade skirt, very similar, that I thought was gorgeous.
And holy cow, that suit!!!! The cut is so incredible on your frame, I can't get over it. You and Tanya are just rocking the heck out of lavender!

  • Jem replied 11 years ago

I can't even pick a favorite! These are all fab! Your suit is amazing! What a great week!

  • Sveta replied 11 years ago

Thank you all for your comments! Sorry I did not get to comment sooner: Saturday was a very busy day. Unfortunately my nasty virus is still here and makes me feel pretty miserable at times :-(
Angie, thanks for the K rating, that outfit was 100% inspired by you! I love Express trousers (remember, you are their fairy godmother) and cannot wait to get my white trousers into rotation (they are still being altered).
Sarah, for the shoe collection: footwear was my weakest spot when I joined YLF: I just did not realized how big role it plays in the outfit! I think I am slowly getting there now...

  • rae replied 11 years ago

I love all of these, but #1 really has my heart. The easy simplicity of the tunic and shorts is just perfect for a hot day. I think that may have a bit to do with the jewelry as well - hard to feel cool when there is a big statement necklace covering you up - although I think Angie's strong and simple mantra has had a big effect all over YLF.

  • lyn67 replied 11 years ago

I would die to copycat nr 3 which is gorgeous on youlonglegged Sveta and Angie, but will never find a trouser to work like that on my silouette:-(( sigh:-((.
Love lavender blouse styled, and the polka skirt outfit very much, too:-)

  • Sveta replied 11 years ago

Rae, you may be right about the heat factor but I found I go more often for earrings than for the necklace even when it is not that hot...
lyn67, this is what I thought about trousers and myself until Angie made me to try Express Editors.I am sure there are perfect trousers for your body somewhere 0ut there too!

  • Beth Ann replied 11 years ago

These are all really marvleous, Sveta! What I see is a mastery of the woven blouse here. All the tops feature lovely color -- either with some saturation or a little shimmer, or both. All the tops combine ease with structure and are paired expertly with their bottom partners for wonderful proportions that flatter you shape.

  • cheryl replied 11 years ago

Sveta, you look like a fashion model. Obviously copying Angie is working for you, so keep it up! You are gorgeous!

  • Kiwichik replied 11 years ago

You look gorgeous in all these outfits. Love the white bermudas and the dotty skirt has won my heart.
