WIW - very stressful week!

This week was very stressful for me. I have not recovered from my virus yet but I almost had to forget about it because my kitties were sick - all 3 of them! That involved a lot of vet visits - constant litter box cleaning - floor wiping - medicine giving - general cuddling this week so I just did not have time to be sick myself. Add to this 33C temps for the major part of the week and usual stress at work and you have my week at a glance!
I hope I looked not as disheveled as I felt though :-0

I found this olive animal print silk thrifted shirt in the donation pile and decided to give it another try. The main problem with it that it is too short to tuck in even for skirts - it gets un-tucked when I sit...
Yellow seamed Halogen pencil skirt, olive silk Jessica shirt (thrifted), nude Franco Sarto to wedge sandals, necklace from a local boutique.

That was the first 33C day and I could not stand anything with sleeves outdoors so I wore this sleeveless dress and used jacket indoors only. This color combination did cheer me up though!
coral lace dress - Banana Republic, sky blue corduroy blazer - thrifted, nude Fidji pumps, Monty's cousin (bag)

Another scorcher day at 33C so another sleeveless top was in order and - ta-ta- debut of my white Editors! This was the day I learned that wide leg white trousers look great but come with the price. My mom took in the waist in the front and on the back and when I got them hope I realized they are a bit too tight so I un-stitched the front darts. Well - you guessed that - it made the trousers longer and as a result the hems were touching the floor. Let's just say that I had to throw them into wash right away and even then one hem remained dirty :-( I am shortening them a bit more no0w and make sure they clear the floor by at least 1 cm (sorry Angie!)
White Editor trousers from Express, hot pink tank from Le Chateau, nude Franco Sarto wedges, spider pendant, grey denim jacket from Winners.

I don;t have a picture for the next day because it was a fashion disaster. We had a golf day at work so I decided to wear my white denim bermudas as they have no denim policy at the club. I figured out nobody will recognize them as denim, right? It did not work out: when I dressed in the morning and looked at myself in the mirror I discovered an old stain on the back which was pretty visible on the optic white shorts. So I had to change them last minute for casual cotton bermudas in stone color and it looked not as crisp with my ink blue shirt as the white shorts. Well, these things happen, right? I did not take a picture because we were caught in a real tropical thunderstorm on our way home but you did not miss much :-(

Today was a bit cooler so decided to dress down my dressy skirt with denim vest.
Spanners midi skirt - thrifted, medium wash denim vest - thrifted, lace white top from Zara, teal Born flats. I know that flats with midi skirt can look frumpy but I thought this works with the denim vest even if it is not the most flattering combination for my legs.
For some reason I always feel I need to match these flats with the bag - never happens for my red bag though. Weird, huh?

As usual any comments and suggestions are very welcome!
I hope you all have a lovely weekend: ours is going to be cooler than the week was so we can breath for a while!

P.S. bonus shots of my patients...

You poor thing, Sveta! And the poor kitties! (((HUGS))). I'm sending lots of feel better energy your way.

Every outfit here is sensational. KILLER week, despite your challenges. Amazing!!

    LOVE THE WHITE TROUSERS.

  • Aida replied 11 years ago

Oh Sveta, sorry to hear that everyone's so sick! Poor you and poor kitties :( I hope you all get better quick quick.

The colors in #1 are delicious, too bad the shirt is too short because it's really lovely! The colors and eyelet fabrication in #2 is so soft and pretty, loving the snakeskin bag there since it adds a little bit of tougher texture. And you know #3 is just my favorite, I LOVE those white wide leg trousers on you Sveta!! WOW. Hope you get the hemming sorted out QUICK so you can wear them again without delay :D The pink and gray look amazing paired with them, I am filing that away to attempt to copy myself. #4 is funky and fun! The flats totally work for me.

Well I just DO NOT understand how you can look so darned fresh and gorgeous in +33 with sick babies!!! I'd be some wilting, sobbing mess in a corner in my pi's!

#2 and #3 are making me swoon - so incredibly chic and stunning Sveta!

  • Suz replied 11 years ago

My goodness, what a week, in more ways than one! I hope you are feeling better. As for the looks, they are Amazing. That coral dress is already such a workhorse for you! And the white trousers look fantastic, despite the problems you've had with them. Once again, you show up in a gorgeous top from le Chateau...I can never seem to find anything that works for me in our Kingston store, but you always hit it out of the ballpark with them!

As for your kitties, they are adorable, and I hope they are doing better now, too.

It is a shame about the olive shirt. It's really nice on you. But it must be SO frustrating to find it coming untucked all the time!!

  • Kyle replied 11 years ago

Number 2 is my favorite. The contrast of the blue and coral is sooo pretty, the nude shoes are just right, and the animal print bag is the perfect accessory. Thanks for again showing us how it's done, Sveta.

  • Sveta replied 11 years ago

Thank you ladies, you already made me feel better :-)
Angie, I thought you would love the white trousers - after all you are their fairy godmother!:)
Aida, your analysis of my outfits is nothing short of amazing - love it! For some reason I really like the combination of pink and grey together - and everything wins with an addition of white! :-)
Shannon, I wish I could have bee
n a mess in my PJs but I had to go to work :-( I guess I am good at pretending then :-)
Suz, maybe I can wear this shirt untucked with this pencil skirt - like in the picture? I don't always find gems in Le Chateau but sometimes I get lucky. This tank was also on sale for $7!
Kyle, I also find a combination of coral and blue very invigorating - like a sunrise sky!

  • Alecia replied 11 years ago

Honestly, your looks belie your stress. These are all just great. I'd really be annoyed by the untucking problem so I can appeciate why it was in the donate pile. I LOVE outfit 4. I can't pinpoint what it is that I love, but it's terrific.

  • Aida replied 11 years ago

You could totally wear the olive blouse untucked with pencil skirts! I really like those proportions. It's loose but not fully slouchy.

  • cjh replied 11 years ago

Wow, love all your outfits! My fave is #2'. Tha coral dress is perfect with the bright jacket! And the flats with the black skirt look just fine to me.

Too bad the blouse in the first outfit is so short as to be annoying and uncomfortable. Have you ever thought of adding fabric on to the bottom? You could use similar fabric in a solid or contrasting print, and go as long as tunic length, maybe with some sort of asymmetrical hem design? You have the style eye and you have a good tailor!

    Like this shape? http://www.dkny.com/sale/women.....uneven-hem

Lovely week. You look especially pretty in #1(untucked) and #2. I hope your adorable patients recover soon!

  • Echo replied 11 years ago

I absolutely love the blouse in the first picture. You must keep it, even with its challenges, IMO! The dress in number two is so beautiful and the denim jacket is the perfect touch with the pink. I hope your kittlies are feeling better; they are lucky to have such a good mom.

  • Scarlet replied 11 years ago

Wow, Sveta, you must perform well under stress because this week blew me away! You look amazing! I think my favorite is the first one, but honestly I don't know because they are all so different. It's comparing apples and oranges.

  • christieanne replied 11 years ago

The olive blouse looks great untucked and might be a good answer for warm day? Is silk hot? I don't really know that. But it's a lovely color on you.
Love the coral and blue outfit as well - so carefree and perfectly proportioned.

Sorry about the white pants being a hassle but they are looking fantastic on you - worth the extra effort I think!

Healing vibes for your kitties - three sick at once would be horrible to manage. Let's hope they are back to chasing each other around full time very soon.

  • jayne replied 11 years ago

lovely week, despite you, worriies. loved the first outfit. you rock that pencil skirt, but I do prefer it tucked. I have same problem since I have a long back/chest. I suggest you find a fit that is a 10, despite how well it looks here. those shirts drive me nuts and then I wouldn't feel fab!

  • Asingh replied 11 years ago

Outfits # 1,2 and 3 are just fab, especially the bright colours. So summery and bright.

  • Lyn D. replied 11 years ago

Sveta, all lovely as usual, and you seem to be able to wear lots of colours successfully.
Have you tried tucking the olive shirt into your stockings/undies to stop the untucking? Or is it suitable to tie at the front as in Angie's recent blog? Otherwise, in the hot weather it looks fine untucked.
My cat says 'Meow' (feel better soon) to yours.

  • Deborah replied 11 years ago

What a challenging week. But you look wonderful in all these outfits. The olive blouse is such a beautiful color. The white pants are "wow" and the denim vest outfit is so fun. Your kitties are too cute. I do hope you are feeling better soon.

  • krishnidoux replied 11 years ago

Echoing Angie. Killer week. As long as it doesn't kill you! ;) Take care of yourself Sveta. You look so spectacular in all of these. Love #4!!!

  • replied 11 years ago

I love you in the pink and coral, Sveta, stunning! And poor sweet kitties. . . hope they are all feeling much better! You are a great furmom!

  • replied 11 years ago

Oh, Sveta, what a week! I love your olive silk blouse, please give it another chance. I love it untucked with a pencil skirt! I have several short shirts and I sometimes belt on top of them untucked if they don't have the shape I want. I am crazy in love with those white pants on you! The tank, the necklace, the jacket: all perfect and To. Die. For! I'm so sorry your pants dragged, though. Hope you fix the length and get the stain out. :/

  • Beth Ann replied 11 years ago

Sveta: You may have been stressed, but you definitely looked fab! Love these selections. The white pants outfit is particularly appealing to me. I think I'll have to put the Editors on my "to try" list for fall.

What does the first blouse look like if you wear it unucked? I know we all have opinions about shirt length (myself included), but it might look kind of retro/cool, and avoid the constant retucking throughout the day.

  • Jaime replied 11 years ago

Late but those white trousers look so fab on you! As does that dress. All the outfits look wonderful. Hope the kitties are feeling better!

  • Sveta replied 11 years ago

Thank you all for your sweet comments and good wishes!
Kitties are alright now - yay to cleaning litter boxes no more than twice a day!
They are still on antibiotics for 3 more days to finish the course but they are back to normal.
I think I will try to wear the olive silk shirt untucked with this yellow skirt. I am afraid it is too short for my jeans but maybe I can pair it with grey wide leg trousers?
Cristieanne, silk is great on a hot day, keeps one cool!
Beth Ann, I hope we will be Editors twins...

  • Joy replied 11 years ago

So glad the kitties are better and I hope that you are having a relaxing weekend to recover from your week. Your outfits are wonderful! If I had to pick a favorite, it would be #2. Those colors are just stunning on you. However, now I want an olive blouse to wear with my yellow skirt.

  • Jjsloane replied 11 years ago

Poor kitties - rough week for them (and you). You look gorgeous in all of these, my favorite is 3 (GREAT pants) followed closely by 1 (but I hate having to readjust my clothing all day so I'd put that back on the donate pile for all the untucking).

  • marianna replied 11 years ago

So sorry your week was stressful. :( But you look perfectly polished and stylish all week long!

  • Angie replied 11 years ago

I like being the fairy godmother of your white trousers. I can't even begin to express how killer they are on you!

Hope that you and the kitties are feeling better.

  • CocoLion replied 11 years ago

#3 is perfect! Actually #1 and #2 are amazing too. I am going to copy #3!

I really like the subtle way your style has evolved over the past year. Not major changes, but there are just the details here and there including color combinations and proportions, that look incredibly chic.

  • Sheila replied 11 years ago

Sveta, I wish I could look half as good as you do when things are off-kilter! Honestly you look terrific and all I can say is to quote the familiar "Keep calm and carry on" poster...you are such an inspiration. Yes, the blouse looks very nice untucked. Hope things take a turn for the better!

  • Jonesy replied 11 years ago

What a great week, especially given your challenging circumstances! How stressful to have your adorable kitties sick!

I love all of these--this crisp, more minimal style direction really suits you, and somehow seems to work especially well for the summer months, if that makes any sense :). I really love those white pants on you, with that bold pink tank. Perfect, simple, chic. That's a bummer about the hems--shortening them a teensy bit makes sense. I totally think you could wear that first blouse untucked with a pencil skirt, but I also love it tucked.

  • replied 11 years ago

Sveta, I hope your kitties are feeling much better.

I love your looks, especially 1 untucked. That blouse and skirt look made for each other. I also love your white trousers. I have been really tempted to get a pair, but with two small children and two cats I always hesitate, but if they look as good on me as they do on you, I might have to make the plunge.
