My latest addition to the Dance Capsule!

Angie is right  - leave no retail stone unturned! As you may remember I am building the Dance Capsule for our new hobby - ballroom dancing. I have been searching for suitable dresses and skirts in the available Canadian sources without success...
..and then last weekend I ventured into Winners and just for fun decided to look at the dress rack. Ans see what I found! This dress has the perfect skirt for dancing and stripe pattern makes it even better in motion.
The fabric is knit so it is on the casual side but it should work for summer. The knit is lightweight but substantial enough so no VPL  - another bonus! because it is lightweight it is the perfect weight for dancing because it is not hot. And did I mention that the price was the whooping $25?!
I wore it to the social dance tonight and got a compliment on it already :-) The only issue is that armholes are too low cut for me but I am going to take in the shoulder straps a bit to fix this.

Just felt like sharing this tonight - thanks for looking and have a great weekend!

Super fun, Sveta! You just never, never know.

I think these lucky finds are partly about having a very clear idea of your needs -- clear, but not rigid. You know you need s floaty skirt and some coverage, but also not too hot. You know you would like something fun. But you're not insisting on a pink dress with a mesh overlay and a pleated skirt, if you take my meaning.

The dress is fun and looks like it fits you well. A good reminder to leave no retail stone unturned.

Great dress Sveta, and perfect for dancing!  That is actually one of my favorite types of dress shapes for that purpose- sleeveless, knit, and full skirt.  Enjoy!

  • Staysfit replied 2 years ago

I love it! It fits perfectly and has a great swishy skirt for dancing. The stripes are so complementary to your figure! :-)

  • approprio replied 2 years ago

Looks perfect. I can see this accessorised with tango shoes and fresh flowers. Love!

  • unfrumped replied 2 years ago

That is a " winner" for sure.
Suz is right- that type of browsing works so well when you have a goal or list. I started doing better at TJMaxx ( including NOT going as often and NOT buying) when I started using it just to see if something on my list had washed up on the fashion beach and not feeling like I had to find something.

    Perfect, Sveta!! You look amazing.

  • Janet replied 2 years ago

What a great find! Honestly, I think you're the first person I've ever seen wear that stripe pattern successfully -- the way the stripes curve across the tummy is so tricky. But this looks great!

    Wonderful dress find.

    Ballroom dancing...sigh...

My grandson is 15, I told him that if he learned to dance, he would  never be unpopular with the girls must have worked because as a freshman this year, he got asked to prom by a girl who was a senior!!

What a lucky find, Sveta.  The dress looks wonderful on you, and I can imagine the interesting effect the stripes will have when you are dancing. Perfect addition to your dance capsule.

What a great, fun, dress! Must be excellent for dancing.

  • Sveta replied 2 years ago

Sorry for replying so late - it has been a very busy weekend for me.
Thank you for loving my new dress. It is perfect for dancing as well as just around the town on a hot day.
Suz and unfrumped, you are right - when you have a very good idea what you are looking for browsing Winners and TJ Maxx can be a very good option if you get lucky. Because of our dancing I always check the dress racks now any time I am in the mall.
Hmm Janet, I actually think this pattern is pretty flattering because the stripes curve and not in a straight line...but maybe you are right?

  • Beth Ann replied 2 years ago

So glad you know how to keep your eyes open for a great fashion opportunity.  This dress is extremely flattering, and so perfect for a summer dancing evening!  Brava!

  • Cococat replied 2 years ago

What a great dress. I really like the cut and how the stripes fall.

I just started hula dance classes. It's such fun. The dress code is sarong rolled at the hips and for those who have one, a floral hip hei.

  • torontogirl replied 2 years ago

    Beautiful find, Sveta!

  • Vix replied 2 years ago

    Hi Sveta --

Agree with all of the above -- gorgeous in general and perfect for dancing!

I'm so impressed with all you social dancers. It seems like a blast, too!

  • Sveta replied 2 years ago

Coco, hula dancing sounds like fun! (I had to lookuo what hip hei is)
Vix, it is a blast. Interestingly I was not one for much dancing in my youth but now I just cannot get enough of it.

  • replied 2 years ago

Wow - what a great dress on you!  The cut is perfect - love it!

  • rachylou replied 2 years ago

Did I say how incredibly flattering this dress is on you? Fantastic :)
