WIW: the last from 2014

I am catching up with WIW posts which I neglected during the holidays.
This is the last batch and looking at it I realized that it is a good illustration why I am benched on the "Team Dark or Team Light Neutrals" :-)

pic 1 Volume on volume

OK, I am sure this is not everybody's cup of tea (definitely not my Mom's) and not universally flattering but I hope it is just flattering enough for me! Lilac and cream together make me happy and fluid sweater together with culottes adds a right amount of movement. This cognac boots are long due to a replacement (the quality was not great to start from) but so far I did not find any substitute yet :-(

pic 2  Vesting around

I just cannot get enough of this vest (or gilet). This definitely was one of the best purchases of 2014 - one of those "landscape changers"! If I can find them I would like to add more long gilets (and jackets) to my wardrobe, they are really useful in winter!

pic 3 Red for the last day of the year

I am a bit over tunics over skinnies tucked into tall boots but still like  this tunic which my hubby selected for me on one of our vacations. The color makes me happy. It is not wool so not very warm therefore I layered a merino wool t-neck under it for warmth.

pic 4 Formal Gala outfit goes trendy

For a New Year Eve my hubby and I went to a music hall for a dinner and dance with  live music (it was a lot of fun). At first I thought to wear exactly the same outfit as for a Christmas Dance Gala. However at the last moment I decided that this venue is less formal and tweaked the outfit a bit. The lace jumpsuit and my dancing shoes were  the same but a topper, clutch and earrings were different. It may be a bit OTT with the lace top and snakeskin panel on the leather jacket but I hope that the same color (black) helped to minimize it. Also introducing my latest pet  - textured light gold clutch - bought on the same day at Danier of course! Love the soft texture of the leather (almost like suede but without fuzz) and subtle gold sparkle. It is really funny that I am not a bag lady at all and have hard time to fall in love with bags - and the last purchase of 2014 was a bag!

Whew, I am done with WIWs for 2014 - even if a week too late!
Enjoy the rest of your week and hopefully you are spared from the snowstorm we have right now!

Each outfit is gorgeous, Sveta. I am taking notes for hoe to wear volume in 1 and how to wear a long gilet in 2.

You finished the year in high style, Sveta!  I'm also a fan of the long vest on you --- gorgeous silhouette and fab contrast in the color!  #3  is amazing, too -- the pattern and rich color are perfect for the holidays, and the look is very striking on you!

The volume on volume works so well, and I adore the vest outfit. And who doesn't love some festive red or some sparkle, as in your last two looks. All in all, I think you had an extremely stylish 2014 Sveta!

  • Jaime replied 9 years ago

The vest and the culottes are always winners in my book Sveta - you ended the year with a bang!

  • Elizabeth P replied 9 years ago

Well, I can't pick a favourite out of these, you look absolutely beautiful in all of them. And you may be behind, but I for one am glad you took the time to get caught up.

  • abc replied 9 years ago

Every one is different and stylish for its own reasons. Impossible to pick a favorite. Really gorgeous set of WIWs.

You look sensational as always Sveta! And I'm loving that new clutch!! May have to check it out on my way home form work today! Thanks for the outfit and handbag inspiration!

I can't get past that second outfit with the vest. I totally agree that this is one of your best purchases in 2014. Have you found it to be much more versatile than you had imagined?

  • Sveta replied 9 years ago

    Thank you!
Sue, let me know how is the clutch recon going :-)
Shannon, I think I did imagine this long gilet to be very useful for my winter wardrobe from the start but I was not prepared how much I would like the style.

All great looks but I have a soft spot for the fabulous tunic!

  • Suz replied 9 years ago

Sveta, these are stunning!! Love every one and of course especially the gilet.

Here's an idea for you. Have you tried that long BCBG jacket of Janet's? Can't remember if you tried it on in the store in Boston. If not, I think you ought to get a version of it.

  • Sveta replied 9 years ago

    Thanks Tracey.
Suz, I did not try it on but I remember it. I don't want black though as I already have 2 black blazers and it is plenty for me. Hopefully BCBG comes up with other color (I am not sure about white in this model either - it would be much easier if there was a place I could walk in and try it on, right? :-(

Oh, wow, 1 and 4 are my faves of this set! Such a great sweater, and the jacket with those pants is TDF. Oh, and the vest... awesome...

  • Sveta replied 9 years ago

Rae, it is such a pleasure to hear from you - I missed you! BTW, these are not pants in #4 but a jumpsuit :-0

  • catgirl replied 9 years ago

Sveta, you gorgeous, gorgeous thing.  You have the presence and carriage to make volume on volume look like grace personified.  And the red tunic - I am smitten.  Way to end the year with a BANG!

  • Dimity replied 9 years ago

The red tunic is really different from skinny jeans looks, so you look terrific in that. I love the culottes and want to get a pair, and I think the vest is a great piece. It elongates the outfit in a very flattering way. I'll have to look out for them. Your evening outfit is very elegant too.

  • texstyle replied 9 years ago

#2 and #4 were my favorites (you look so fantastic in that vest) but I also really like the other two.

  • Angie replied 9 years ago

You ALWAYS look gorgeous Svetlana, but #2 launches me into orbit. LOVE THE GILLET WITH WHITE JEANS. It's sooooooo chic.

    *fanning myself*

  • Sveta replied 9 years ago

Una, Dimity and texstyle - thanks!
Angie, you know I wore this gilet today too and tried to pair it with white jeans and did not like it. I thought that it just does not work well with white bottoms at all - and then I looked at this post and realized that I did wear it with white jeans last week. Funny how different top and footwear (today they both were black) affect the bottoms color which looks good :-)
