WIW: The Great Freeze continues...

It is the end of February and I am SO ready for the spring! Unfortunately the Mother Nature does not agree with me and we had another "extreme cold" warning this morning :-(
Oh well, at least they promise some barely-above-freezing temps next week - something to look forward too I guess!

pic 1 Some orange to brighten a winter day and cashmere to feel warm in the cold. I wore this sweater before with a soft Gap white shirt and it felt too sloppy with exposed hem so I tucked it in in the end. This time I wore it with a crisper Foxcroft shirt and exposed shirt hem felt fine. What  difference a fabrication makes! It is hard to see in the picture but my trousers are navy shadow plaid from Express.

Unfortunately this almost ink outfit did not photograph well indoors. This is a forum debut of my new ink blazer from Banana Republic - Tall at last! My Mom altered it and it fits perfectly now - I am happy as a clam! My 2-year search for a longer ink blazer is over! Going for a variation of the equestrian look here :-)

Dress day! This dress brings back memories from Seattle meetup so it is a happy dress for me! This time I paired it with a coated utility vest from BR. What do you think?

pic 4 I was cold, tired and slept in so FFBO with a comfortable jeans and warm cashmere blush sweater were in order. I still don't know if these jeans are relaxed skinnies or BF? Actually they are straight leg jeans but 2 sizes too big now so I treat them as BFs. BTW Suz - this is how I wear full length BF jeans all winter long - rolled just a bit and fitted over booties. These UGG Chelsea booties really allowed me to wear more types of bottoms in winter - and they proved to be waterproof enough.

pic5 I missed my culottes which were in the laundry so I could not wait to wear them again this week. Honestly Angie's post this morning inspired me to pair them with my lemon yellow Tippi sweater...but I felt that my dark short hair is not enough to balance the black boots - the only footwear I could wear with these culottes in -26C this morning. Inge's pearl review prompted me to wear a necklace again  - I like how these separate pearls bring some lightness to the ink sweater.
Thanks for looking and as usual all comments and suggestions are very much appreciated. Have a great weekend and stay warm (for those who live through a Great Freeze)!

#5 is my absolute favorite! Wow! I think the ink sweater was a great choice here.

#4 - I have not seen that awesome orange (red?) Bag! Love the pop of color with the outfit.

And a big hoorah for finally finding an ink blazer and another one for super mum who can tailor anything :-)

  • Ornella replied 9 years ago

I love all of them of course, but the last one steals my heart. Gorgeous pearls (I miss pearls - on me and seeing them on others), beautiful sweater. You rock those culottes. The bag too is perfect.

  • carter replied 9 years ago

You always look so stunning, I can't begin to pick a favorite. love them all!

  • kkards replied 9 years ago

while you look great in all of them, there is something about #2 and 5 are my favs. #5 has a hint of the 70s, but is clearly modern and now! and i really like the contrast of the white shirt and the dark cropped sweater, blazer and pants.

  • Karie replied 9 years ago

Another gorgeous week, girlfriend! My favorite is the cheerful orange striped sweater in #1. Interesting note about the fabrication of the white shirt - I also tried this look with my Gap white shirt and did not care for it as the white shirt kept sliding around and kept needing to be adjusted. I will have to try it again with a crisper shirt.

  • cjh replied 9 years ago

You should be a model. Wow! All these outfits are A+++ and I am sure the people who see you in person every day love it when you arrive!

  • Joy replied 9 years ago

You had a great week despite the deep freeze.
    1. This looks warm, cheerful and crisp. I keep trying for a striped cashmere sweater but must be too short. I'll enjoy this one on you. I would not have thought to wear this sweater with plaid navy trousers but it certainly works.
    2. I'm excited for you. The blazer looks wonderful over shirt and soft pullover.
    3. I love all the textures going on here. This may be my favorite of the week. Did you find that the dress was true to size?
    4. A perfect comfy and warm look. I really like the loose fit of these jeans and the structure that you added with the slightly rolled leg, and will try this today with jeans and ankle boots and a foot of snow on the ground.
    5. This could also be my favorite look. The crisp white of your culottes with navy and the pearls look just perfect and say that spring is on the way.

Outstanding outfits, Sveta.  I especially love the pop of orange in the sweater to brighten these cold, dull days.

  • Summer replied 9 years ago

All beautiful outfits, Sveta.  I'm not usually a fan of orange, but I'm making an exception for that gorgeous striped sweater.

  • Transcona Shannon replied 9 years ago

How do you do it Sveta? Fantastic looks day after day. I swear you never make a mistake :)

  • Angie replied 9 years ago

You look killer stunning in all these outfits, Sveta. Sorry for the short comment - but I have to run. (Bag in #4 makes me very happy).

  • Suz replied 9 years ago

Love them all, Sveta! Just gorgeous!! I cannot pick a favourite.

The navy blazer looks great on you! Glad it was possible to alter it.

I was very interested in your comment about the shirt tails. Crisp fabrication makes it okay for you; soft makes it not okay.  Crisp gives it a bit more structure, I guess?

I have not had my casual short booties on my feet since December. Much less my dressier booties. It's just impossible here. The sidewalks -- even the so-called "cleared" ones -- are still more than ankle deep in snow in many places. This is why I can't follow your lead with the BF jeans, alas. I do wear the more slouchy skinnies tucked into my moto boots, though, which gives at least a tiny bit of variety.

Beautiful group of outfits - I am really envious of your closet:)  I have to say I'm drawn to the orange striped sweater (and is that a scarf with it too?) and pants outfit just because of the colours!  Looks great on you.

  • krishnidoux replied 9 years ago

Well done. Despite the cold, you look so chic. One almost would forget the cold, with such splendid outfits. My favorite has to be 5, followed closely by 3. Have you tried the navy blazer with number 5's white bottoms and a light top? The contrast would look very crisp and spring like, I think.

  • Caro in Oz replied 9 years ago

These are stunning - just a personal choice, I LOVE #2 - you look so sleek & put-together. I can see why you missed the culottes you look amazing in them.

  • Ruth M replied 9 years ago

Joining in the admiration, Sveta. Your outfits show such variety, and all are fab. My absolute favourite here is #5.

  • MsMaven replied 9 years ago

Fabulous outfits! I would be so depressed with the cold that I don't think I would even get dressed.

  • Nebraskim replied 9 years ago

You can carry orange like a pro. I love look one, but you just are showing the rest of us how to scoff at the cold.

  • Sveta replied 9 years ago

    Neel! I missed you! :-)
Ornella, I have not worn pearls for a couple of years but looks like I begin to crave them again :-0
carter, kkards, cjh, Marylin, caro, Ruth, MsMaven, Nebraskim - thank you!
Karie, my problem with Gap shirt was that the fabric is soft and looks quite rumpled very soon. It is a very casual shirt and for me it does not work well.
Joy, I think the dress may be a bit on the big side as Angie made me size down in it.
Summer, I find that light grey tones down the orange and makes it more wearable.
Angie, thank you for chiming in - you must be ran off your feet after being away for 2 weeks. Than bag was for you! :-)
Suz, it is not just about the structure but maybe more about a polish? Soft cotton Gap shirt is too RATE for me I think. As for the walkways - looks like London is way ahead of Kingston in snow maintenance. Our walkways can be messy while it is snowing and maybe the next day but then they are cleaned up. I think it is one of the benefits of living in Ontario snow belt  - the city is always prepared for the snow.
lisap, it is not a scarf but the sweater cowl in pic #1.
Krish, I have not tried it yet but I will! :-)

#1 and #2 are super smart casual looks.  Layered to perfection.  The layering in #1 is inventive and I love the pop of orange, it is making me happy just looking…

So I'm gonna keep clicking on that picture because it is brightening this cloudy hailing 40 degree day (that's cold for California!).

  • chouette22 replied 9 years ago

I ALWAYS love your outfits, you just know what looks good on you. #2 is incredibly chic to my eyes, just wow!

  • replied 9 years ago

I echo the sentiments of others in saying you looked great in all these outfits. There is something really appealing about them all but 1,3 & 5 are my favorites.

I love the striped sweater, like the pattern mixing with the tights and dress and the vest over it, and the last outfit feels very boho chic to me. Great choices.

  • Jaime replied 9 years ago

Beautiful outfits! The orange sweater works so well with the blouse and your new blazer is fab and I never tire of your culottes outfits! Your hair looks terrific this short too with your amazing bone structure.

  • AM replied 9 years ago

#2 is my favorite -- just feels so sharp and thought out. Very current and intentional. There is some drama in those lines.

#1 is my second fav - the bright orange -- and the layers. Just feels chic while being casual.

    Well done!

  • Thistle replied 9 years ago

And the freeze goes on, and the freeze goes on. (Such a good thing you can't actually hear me sing ;) )

You look terrific despite the cold.

  • rute replied 9 years ago

Love your style! So trendy! outfits 1 and 5 are killing me!

  • Lisa replied 9 years ago

A great week.  #1 and #5 are my favorite.  I really like the orange and grey in #1, and everytime I see this jumper it makes me smile.  And #5 because I can't get enough of you in this style bottom.  It's smashing on you!
