WIW: summer jackets are my essentials!

It has been a while since I posted my weekly WIW. Somehow I was not motivated to take pictures lately because there was too much going on in my "other" life. However I have noticed that taking pictures really helps when I need to understand why I was not happy in the outfit that day or why I felt especially fab. So here I am again catching up on my daily habit of pictures and weekly habit of posts!
I am also back to taking pictures inside. It is so difficult to find  a good spot with the evening light in my backyard. I need to work on it as outdoor pictures usually better.
Common theme here - I love my summer jackets to keep me warm at work in the blasting AC. Also I find that my dove satchel is now my go-to summer bag - remember how I was hesitating if i should keep it or not? :-)

I was pretty happy with how this outfit came out. My only issue was that having knit skirt and knit tee felt a bit un-structured for me but adding a navy moto solved that problem. Worn to work.

And I needed that cheering! We came home on Sunday to find one of our kitties sick. She was getting better but took a turn to worse a night before so I was taking her to the vet that day before work. She had a fever so vet thought it was a virus and gave her some medications - blood tests did not show anything bad either. She was getting better again until this afternoon - and looks like we are back to where we were before..Please spare some healing thoughts for my Tigra.:-(
Anyway, back to the outfit. I was not happy how these loafers played with the bootcuts: the hem was getting caught on the top of the shoes. My SE petty booties work well with them but is is too hot for the booties and I do not have anything else with the right heel height. Oh well!

I have not been wearing my white wide leg trousers much this summer so I decided to take them for a spin for work.

Worn to work on Friday. This is a debut of my new JCrew orchid linen sweater. Like in #1 I find that combination of this soft sweater and very loose now BF jeans does not have enough structure for me to be really happy - but adding a denim mot helps. I think I am getting ready to part ways with these BF jeans as well as they got too big for me to feel fab in them. They may not look it in the picture but they are quite baggy now. Maybe I should iron them after laundry as Angie does with white jeans...

First off, I'm so sorry about Tigra -- sending cuddles and healing thoughts her way. Poor kitty. I hope she will get better again soon.

Meanwhile, killer week for you! Wow. Love love love the pattern mix in #1! Just stunning. As to not feeling structured enough, this is just what I was talking about in our little message flurry today -- this would be PERFECTION for me at home....(clothes that feel like pyjamas, what could be better??) but like you, I would need to add structure to feel okay out in the world in it. So then I would add a jacket. You did just that.

That is a shame about the shoe situation in #2. When this happens I get so irritable. The jeans look amazing on you.

#3 is equally fab. And love you in the orchid sweater.

  • gardenchick replied 9 years ago

Wow, a lot of great looks here! I have some similar pieces, so fun to see how you style them. My favorites are your tube skirt and moto in #1, and #4. But all great looks. And hope Tigra is doing better...

  • Kiwichik replied 9 years ago

Get well Tigra. Love that T-Shirt in 1 & 3 particularly like it combined with the black & white tube skirt. Great idea to add the navy jacket for more structure - you wear jackets so well and each of these outfits is improved by the addition of one.

  • AJ replied 9 years ago

Oh to have a reason to put on a topper in the summer! <sigh>

I am favoriting this because I want to copy each of these outfits! You had a stellar week.

I'm sorry Tigra isn't feeling well. Give her extra hugs and kisses from the Fabbers.

  • christieanne replied 9 years ago

First things first - sending some get well kitty vibes! It is so scary and sad when our furbabies are sick.
Second - boy do you look great! I understand what you mean with liking structure. I think that is one of the reasons I am wavering on keeping the VC skirts I just picked up. I like structure  (and pockets). Maybe when the weather cools and I can do a jacket with them I will be happier. Today I wore ponte pants and a lightweight slouchy sweater. Super comfy but felt too loungewear for work.
The leopard loafers really make that outfit pop with yellow jacket even if the shape/fit combo didn't feel super fab.

  • Mona replied 9 years ago

I hope Tigra feels better soon. Poor kitty!
You were ready to deal with her illness in all your fab outfits. Summer toppers are a must for me due to arctic A/C at work. You have a great collection!

  • cheryle (Dianthus) replied 9 years ago

    I hope Tigra has improved.
I hear you on the will to post WIW.  I posted one and think it may be the first since I was on winter vacation.  Other priorities...

I really like the BW striped skirt outfit and the color combo on the jeans, white and yellow is lovely.  The shade of yellow is perfect with the high contrast pant/top.  I find it interesting that you paired such a ladylike bag with the more casual look of pic 4.  It works but I am not sure why.  I also find the lavender/rose color of that top looks lovely with the soft denim.

I always admire how you are able to find pants that fit so well.  You get great drape but without looking too loose.

  • anne replied 9 years ago

Sveta, you look like a fashion plate!! Love your looks

  • Karie replied 9 years ago

Sending out positive healing thoughts for kitty, it's so hard when our fur babies aren't feeling well.

What a fabulous outfit week you had! I love the pattern mixing in #1, and I understand your need for adding more structure by way of a jacket. I would do the same.

I also hear you on the Kut jeans - mine are feeling too baggy this year too, even though I've only lost about 5 pounds, go figure.

I'm glad you kept that dove satchel - it's gorgeous, just like you :)

  • Angela K replied 9 years ago

Sveta, hope your kitty is better soon!

Fabulous outfits this week. I've been missing your posts! Glad to see you are back. The tube skirt is my favorite and I will have to copy you since I have the Gap blue moto as well.

Also the orchid looks awesome on you. It makes your complexion glow. :)

  • Transcona Shannon replied 9 years ago

Sending healing vibes to poor Tigra.

What a killer week Sveta. I'm having trouble getting past outfit #1 - so graphically gorgeous :)

  • TraceyLiz65 replied 9 years ago

Sending healing thoughts to your dear Tigra!  I love your weekly outfits and when I worked loved jackets year round for the AC...

  • Urbanfae replied 9 years ago

Poor Tigra! Hope she feels better soon. I completely understand about the structure and think your jackets really pull the rest of the ensem together. My favorite is that lovely orchid sweater. And keeping the bag was a very good idea.

  • Eliza replied 9 years ago

    Best to your cat, Sveta.

While scrolling through your photos, I felt like it could have been a magazine spread. Your pieces play so well together and your proportions are gorgeous. Love the striped skirt combo and the white shirt with denim is stunning. Your jackets do make a difference. I use them to add structure to my over-sized looks also.

So happy the dove satchel stayed with you. Talk about an elegant work horse.

Hope things resolve quickly in a positive direction.

  • Kyle replied 9 years ago

No. 2 is my favorite, Sveta. Clean lines and a crisp sensibility always, always work for you. The leopard shoes are a brilliant touch. You have had good luck expanding your footwear!  I love you in both the Zara blazers.

Yes, you are swimming in those white bottoms, aren't you? If you find new white boyfriends that are long enough please let me know -- I've been on the hunt for months.

You look fab, as always. I agree that photos help us hone our style and feel fab more consistently. I'm sorry about your Tigra. Get well soon!

  • citygirldc replied 9 years ago

Love every single outfit on you. Brilliant.

  • MsLuna replied 9 years ago

Sveta, it's lovely seeing you here again! Loving all your outfits, but I'm especially impressed you have two fabrications of moto jackets!!im such a fan of them yet it's so hard to find one that fits!

I'm also loving that white shirt in #1. The cut and pattern just works. Love how you combined it with stripes and the moto! Ladylike edgy!

  • Windchime replied 9 years ago

How's your kitty doing? It'd be so much easier if they could tell us what's going on, wouldn't it?!

I like seeing your recent purchases mingling with familar pieces. The shirt in #1 and #3 is a winner every time you style it, and you look beautiful in the pastel colors in #4 . Glad you're enjoying the dove bag, too.

  • Ellie replied 9 years ago

    Love your style Sveta!

  • Angie replied 9 years ago

Chiming in fast to say you rock my style world, Queen Summer Jacket. (YES. I kept the Zara lime green moto, and wore it again yesterday). xo

  • Sveta replied 9 years ago

Thank you ladies for your kind words! Sorry I did not have time to reply earlier but my weekend was so busy with cuddling poor Tigra and hosting a small informal birthday party for our friend.
Also thanks a lot for sending good wishes to my kitty. Unfortunately I don't have good news about Tigra yet :-(  She is stil tired and does not eat much. On the good side though it looks just like a flu  (never knew cats can get flu like people with fever, running nose and sore throat!) and like for people there is no cure, the virus has to run its course...hopefully your healing vibes help!
Suz, yes on PJ feeling for home clothing! You managed to get you work from home wardrobe to that comfort level and in the same time retain your killer style to perfection!
AJ, I know, right? Actually this summer is very cool so I often wear jackets outdoors too and don't feel hot at all. Unheard of in July in this part of Canada!
Christieanne, this VC tube skirt is still my favorite. Its very tapered shape does help to create structure and it is great for summer.
dianthus, I did not even think that this dove satchel maybe too formal for the last outfit: I just tried it and liked how it looked: telling you how non-analytical I am when dressing! :-) He-he on the pans which fit: because those are quite loose on me now. I guess the pictures hide it.
Karie, I think that when jeans were fitting on the loose side to begin with (like BF) even 5 pounds are enough for them to get too loose.
Angela K, I hope to see your version with the moto jacket.
Kyle, actually I chopped off 2" off those BF jeans last year so I can roll them up higher. They were of that awkward length on me - too short for full length and too long for rolling up without much bulk. If I find any I will let you know - and you do the same, please. We tall gals have to stick together!
Katie, It is funny that I don't have a leather moto jacket but now have them in pother fabrications: denim, cotton (navy) and wool cobalt. All are from Gap - it was pretty good for moto jacket selection last year. Have you tried any of them? They all come in petite as well.
Windchime, he-he, I need to buy much more for a season to make outfits from ALL new items :-) The bag is a workhorse for me for sure, especially for summer. i would love to add a white bag as well but for now this dove grey color works really well for me as a pastel.
Angie, the credit should go to you because you inspire me (sometimes I feel that I just copy cat you in everything I wear  - and I have no shame in it :-) )
I am glad the lime jacket stayed, it looks beautiful on you in really "Angie" color.

  • jackiec replied 9 years ago

Hope your kitty is doing better - poor little thing!
All of your outfits are outstanding as usual. I really need to study every element b/c they are SO well put together. My fav is #1 - soft, drapey, but with structure. LOVE!!! Keep sharing - it's very inspirational :)

  • Beth Ann replied 9 years ago

Greetings, Sveta!  You're looking so beautiful this summer.  So sorry to hear kitty is under the weather!

I hear you on the importance of the third piece --- preferably a jacket.  I'm loving knit jackets, or wovens with lots of stretch, right now, but I'm not finding marvelous ones in the stores at the moment.  If I were in an office 5 days a week, that would be my favorite formula point.  Your lighter color jackets have freshened up your summer classics beautifully!

So sorry about the shoe situation -- the one frustrating element of wearing bootcuts.  And I agree about the white pants.  Love 'em, but the rear view isn't draping quite ideally for bfs -- the fabric is probably a bit on the light side, with too much stretch, to work beyond a healthy relaxed fit.

  • viva replied 9 years ago

Hi Sveta! I hope little kitty is doing better today. :(

I love #1, but #2 for me is classic Sveta. Your stature really comes through in this one, and no one wears a button down and long jeans like you. Just a fantastic look.

  • Elizabeth P replied 9 years ago

Goodness, I could have sworn I commented on this - maybe I just read it in a busy time and didn't get back.  I did just want to say that you look AMAZING and I'm also totally copying outfit #1 sometime this week.

Sorry about your kitty, and I hope she's getting better.  Our fella is diabetic, so whenever he's acting slightly tired, or not eating, I really really wish he could tell me if it's just the heat, or if he's feeling "off"!

  • Lisa replied 9 years ago

I hope kitty is doing better.
#1-Great that you pinpointed the issue, too much knit in one look.  I don't think I'd enjoy an all knit look either, it would feel like PJ's to me.

#2-This yellow blazer is such a happy blazer, a great color.  It sounds like you need to find a summer shoe for these jeans.  I like wedge sandals for a little height for bootcut jeans for the summer.

#3-The little bit of print with the white bottoms is a nice look.  And another fun colored blazer, you have a great collection of blazers!

#4-Too bad about the jeans, but now you have a reason to shop for new one's which is always fun.

  • lyn67 replied 9 years ago

This is a gorgeous week(again) Sveta!!! And, it's always a delish to see your wiws.(Hope the kitty is better now!),. The first 3 are absolutely gorgeous and and stylish, and strong, and bold, and fab, and ALL! They are such perfections., hardly can say a word. I love the last one, too---but I can see (and relate) with the problem on the white jeans-I hate when this happens, and hope you can replace them soon, as it's a great outfit! BTW, aggree about the love of that grey bag! It was a great buy. My concern was never the color, but the somehow stumpy  shape and more structure of a satchel  bag like this (only to be carried down in your hands).  But it works so well with your frame and wardrobe.  YLF!:-)

  • Sveta replied 9 years ago

Tigra is a bit better today - at least she ate more than yesterday - but still pretty sick. It looks like it is going to be a long road for her :-( Thank you for your good wishes for my poor kitty!
Beth Ann - you see what I see in those BF jeans. Yep, they are heading to the end of our time together...
Elizabeth - diabetic pet must be a handful to care for! If my sturdy and healthy kitty takes the flu so badly I can only imagine how hard it would be for your pet. Please keep him safe!
Lisa, yes - I need a summer shoes for the bootcuts but not sandals because I usually freeze in them at work. They also have to have 1.5" heel only due to the inseams...and I would prefer pointy toe (which I cannot find for myself) or at least almond.
lyn67, it is funny but the shape of this grey bag was what attracted me in the first place :-)
Viva and Jackie - thank you!

  • Lisa replied 9 years ago

Sveta-I've been wearing a ballet flat wedge with my bootcuts when I want to wear bootcuts but not a sandal.  Maybe this is an idea for you?  I have these Cole Haan Milly wedges in grey but I see many other colors/names but the style looks the same on Nordstrom's page.

  • Sveta replied 9 years ago

Lisa, thanks. Unfortunately CH ballet wedges are not comfortable for me :-(
I also prefer high vamp shoe with bootcuts so no break between the shoe and the hem. It is a hard order to fill for 1.5" heel! Ideally I would lovesomething like
these Munro shoes but I need lower heel for those bootcuts.

  • Niki Lea replied 9 years ago

Sveta, I love, love, love that happy yellow blazer of yours.

  • Angie replied 9 years ago

I missed the part about your sick little baby kitty. I'm sorry Svetlana. Sick pets are the worst. You desperately want to help them, and they can't speak to you. And they try so hard to be well. Sending healing thoughts and much love. xo

  • Sveta replied 9 years ago

Thank you Angie. It has been an ordeal but thankfully not life threatening for her (I hope).

  • Joy replied 9 years ago

Sending healing thoughts for poor Tigra. I hope that she is on the mend.
You look like a model in your summer jackets. I especially like 1 and 3 and love that pick-up sticks top. I want but don't need it, so am enjoying it on you.

  • replied 9 years ago

What a fabulous set of outfits Sveta! Jackets really are your signature piece. I can't pick a favourite as they are all gorgeous.

I hope Tigra is keeping on the path to recovery.x

  • Angie replied 9 years ago

Good to hear, Sveta. Cuddle Tigra extra for me. xo
