WIW: simply classic

This week was a torture! We are delivering a project at work and things did not go well so I had to work on weekend and very long hours. I am so happy it is Friday and that I have vacation next week! we decided not to go anywhere but use this week to finish our deck before the snow comes...but still, it means no work stress!!!
So this week I had no energy to dress so simple classic outfits to the rescue.

#1 Saturday at work. I decided to see if I can style that knit blazer better. what do you think?
Gibson knit riding blazer
Burgundy sweater - Reitmans
Paige bootcut jeans
Vincee Camuto leo slippers

#2-3 What can be simpler that a shirt, skinny trousers and a leather jacket?
Asymmetric leather jacket - Danier
Martin skinny trousers
Vince Camuto slippers (again!)
BB button down
Danier silver tote

#4 Maybe the last time I wore my blush khakis this summer? Tried them with that troublesome for me knit jacket. See, I am demoing Angie's faux-tuck here!
Gibson knit riding blazer
Gap blush khakis
BB striped sweater
trotters tweed wedges
nude clutch from Portugal

#5-6
Another simple classic to the rescue! I think it was my favorite of the week.
Red Halogen skirt - NAS
BB purple mini stripe shirt
"Monty cousin" tote
Ron Hommerson slingbacks

#7 I was at the end of my strength today and did not even have energy to think about an outfit. FFBO of a summer dress and denim jaket were just the ticket!
Cleo dress
Old Navy white denim jacket
Silver Isaac Mizrahi flats
Red Chromia bag

That was my week. Next week is The Deck week so I don't expect I will have much to show....

Have a beautiful weekend!

All of your outfits look great! Good luck next week.

    You look fantastic! Especially 1!

Sveta, no one would ever guess that you were as tired as you say you were. All fab outfits, and evidence that simple and classic is the best FFB ever! Love #1 -- did the jacket feel better this time?

My favourite is the red pencil skirt outfit. Just lovely. And a pretty homage to Angie.

But I also love today's look. One last glimpse of summer.

You really look sophisticated. I especially like #2.

  • Angie replied 10 years ago

My faves are #6 and #3 too. Killer gorgeous as always, Sveta. You are a true inspiration.

Sveta, you always look SO polished and pretty. I love the leopard slippers--they are a great way to add interest to an outfit. I'm taking notes :) Blush khakis look so refreshing with the grey blazer. You rock red! Fab week!

I love your outfits - couldn't tell you were stressed at all! That red pencil skirt is fab!

Great week!  I especially like how you styled the Gibson blazer, as well as outfits in #2, 5, and 7.

I can't even pick a fav, I like them all!

So sorry your week was difficult!  1, 5 and 7 are my favorites, but all are chic and strong --- and you're right, dressing in simple classics keeps things uncomplicated on those rushed mornings.

Maybe you'll get to sit on that deck and watch the leaves change!

Love #1, and it is so nice to see the bootleg pants/jeans in your WIWs.

Sveta you have a great wardrobe and knowing what works surely helps for weeks like this.  You look so stylish and put together.

Thank you all for the comments. I am glad my week was not a total disaster :-)
Suz, you are right: classic is a very easy FFBO which always looks polished without much effort. It is really amazing: I expected to feel bored with simple outfits like #2-3 and 5-6 but was not at all.
I am also happy to be able to copycat Angie with a red skirt. I am glad I got the red one and not the purple: muted purple which does wonders in your wardrobe Suz, would not work as well in mine but clear red has a big potential. This was also the first time I wore this purple mini stripe shirt and I am in love with it!
BTW no deck work for us today as it is raining cats and dogs since yesterday evening: they promise up to 80 mm of rain until it is finished.

Sveta, this is amazing!  You look gorgeous!  What a great reminder that classic can be so chic and sexy, and not boring :)

Your outfits continue to inspire me.  Keep them coming, please.  All perfect.

  • Eliza replied 10 years ago

Wow- I think I could use your "look book" for inspiration. You are gifted with the use of proportions and elegant lines.  Love three and you rock that red skirt.

Before I started commenting I had to mark as a favorite. I love that metallic bag and your use of color and prints. If I worked with you, I'd love to see you come in every morning. Your outfits are delightful and make me happy.

You rock those BB shirts!  I am impressed at how cohesive this is - there is some white in every outfit except the first one.  I still like the grey blazer!

FFBOs to the rescue! What a testimony to the great state of your wardrobe Sveta. It is serving you, instead of you serving it, and that's the way it should be. Hope you get a break this next week....well at least one kind of work will be traded for another.

I love that red pencil skirt on you. And since ever since Suz mentioned it on one of her threads, I'm really honing in on how each piece of clothing you own is perfectly tailored (lucky you, by your mum) and how much of a difference it makes in you style quotient. Sometimes taking in something a tich or shortening a skirt to just the right spot makes ALL the difference between looking borderline-dumpy and looking stylish. I'm taking notes! :)

Great collection of classic outfits here, but you take them up a notch with interesting prints and details such as the black piping on the white shirt.  And I think those blush trousers will be workhorses come spring, based on Angie's blog post today.   Also I think the grey knit blazer was styled nicely in both looks, I think you've successfully saved this piece from donation.
