WIW: road-testing my new stuff!

Life continues to get in the way of my forum presence: between crazy work (have to work on weekend again), deck construction, my sister and niece visit and my son's return from his exchange term in South East Asia after 7 months of absence my time is in a very short supply. I hope September will be quieter but for now my WIW posts are more of "post and run" thing :-(

So without much ado here are my new  goodies for your viewing pleasure! :-)

pic 1 VC tube skirt.

I am SO glad I went for a bolder stripe against my better judgment and fear of horizontal stripes on my lower half. This skirt is so much fun that I can take a bit of unflattery with it if required! Thank you Angie for nudging me towards the fun skirt!

Nude cage wedges - Franco Sarto

pic 2 Foxcroft white shirt

I LOVE this shirt! It is really non-iron, crisp, tailored without being too snug and LONG ENOUGH! I have my eye on Foxcroft white tunic now and if it goes on sale I will pounce at once!

Blush khaki pants - Gap

Bone slingbacks - Ros Hommerson

pic 3 Brooks Brothers striped tee

I have to confess at once: the length with the trousers did bother me during the day so I decided that this is a skirt only tee. But I really like how it looks and I think I have enough skirts to justify this purchase. Hmm, maybe I need a white skirt now because I adore it with white...:-)

I think I really like the effect of this taupe mesh sweater over the white shirt - something I did not try before. Polk dots really stand out this way!

Kut BF jeans - last year NAS

Silver Isaac Mizrahi slippers - Nordstrom

pic 5 Pleione crossover blouse

I am struggling with the fit of this blouse a bit: the collar does not always lie flat and I am not sure if crossover part is supposed to be like this but this is definitely a fun top!

Thank you for looking and as usual any suggestions and critique is very welcome!

Have a nice weekend!

Every one of your outfits looks fabulous, but if there is something beyond fab--outstanding?--it has to be #1.  I love the way you have put the pieces together.  Angie could have used your photo as an illustration for today's blog post.

  • Joy replied 10 years ago

S eta, you can do no wrong! Each outfit is stunning on you. I think my favorite is 3. Does the shirt not stay tucked? It doesn't look too short.
I think the sweater and shirt combo in 4 would also look great with your blush trousers in 2. 1 a d 5 look amazing too. It's fun to see you wearing your purchases.

  • Caro in Oz replied 10 years ago

Fabulous outfits - #2 is perfect.

  • Sanet replied 10 years ago

Love them all! I think my favourite is #2. You look unbelievably elegant in that.

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 10 years ago

What a fabulous group of outfits! They are all so great on you, and I'm happy for you that you're enjoying your new purchases. A few little details I will single out to admire: the silver slippers with the polka dot sweater--I like how the patterns echo each other; and I love your nude sandals with the strong graphics of stripes and high contrast outfits.

I would like to award you the "Does not put a foot wrong"  trophy.  Sveta each outfit is brilliant.  I know I have said it before but you so know who you are stylewise.   And the cross over top is a wonderful addition to your wardrobe.

  • Lyn D. replied 10 years ago

That non-iron white shirt is so good!
Thanks for the idea for wearing a mesh sweater on top too.
The cross over blouse is unusual and a statement piece.
You must be very pleased with your NAS purchases.

  • Beth Ann replied 10 years ago

Deborah's right:  these are all amazing, with good variety.  I think you are really nicely balanced in the striped tube skirt, and I find it quite flattering, in addition to fab!

  • Jeanie replied 10 years ago

You look super in all these!  Are those the more tapered Gap khakis that are in the store?  Do you size up on them to getter a looser fit?

  • Kristin SF replied 10 years ago

I love all these looks, but I esp wanted to thank you for #2. I just pulled out my blush khakis wondering what on earth to pair them with. A white button down, love it!

    Also, a fun blog post:

Finally, have a great time welcoming back your son. How exciting for him to be away, and now returning home to his family after 7 months!

They're all amazing! My personal favourite is #4. So wow!!!

  • Mona replied 10 years ago

First thing this morning, I open your post and what a treat to see you rocking these new items. Each outfit is glorious and you rock the VC tube skirt like no other.

  • replied 10 years ago

Wonderful outfits Sveta. I love #1 , you can tell how happy you feel in the skirt. #5 is so elegant. I also love the taupe tones with yellow and white in #3. But honestly, I think you hit it out of the ball park in all 5.

  • Vickie KY replied 10 years ago

I love all of the outfits. I really like your use of accessories:
the belts and shoes. I liked the grey / yellow (chartreus) combination.

Fabulous outfits, Sveta, and it is wonderful to see your new wardrobe items in action! Love them all but the shirt with the taupe sweater is inspired.

I wish I had a suggestion for the striped top -- as you know, mine does the same, so it is hard to say. Sometimes I think it is the positioning of the snap in such items. But I'm not 100% sure. I once had a sweater that did this, too, and it had button closing.

  • Angie replied 10 years ago

You have given so much to YLF over the years, Sveta. Posting and running should be the least of your concerns.

You launch me into orbit withth all your outfits. All absolutely killer beautiful. I cannot pick a favourite - well, maybe #3 if I had to choose. I will also add that it's spectacular to see you rock that bold striped skirt. xo

  • merwoman replied 10 years ago

Slam dunk! Amazing outfits Sveta! I really love how your handbags are always the perfect finishing touch - beautiful!

  • cobaltblue replied 10 years ago

Sveta, these are to die for! I shall Pin them all.

  • replied 10 years ago

You look spectacular! Wow, I love each and every one of these.

  • Day Vies replied 10 years ago

I love them all!!! If you are wearing any of these this weekend you look absolutely fabulous! I hope you have some time for you coming up soon!

#2 is especially compelling because it is so tomboy but you're wearing pink I love the tension of it!!!!

  • Nicole D replied 10 years ago

You look so fab.  #1 my fave but it is really hard to pick a fave.  I may need to hire you as my personal tall lady stylist!

  • Kyle replied 10 years ago

The blush trousers and white blouse knock me out. You are officially the button up blouse queen, Sveta.

  • nancylee replied 10 years ago

Perfect Sveta stylings.  Thanks for sharing.

And keep fiddling with that striped top.  It's a stunner!

  • In My Joi replied 10 years ago

SVETA!!!!! You looks absolutely amazing!! Every, single, one, is: FABULOUS!!!!! (Stands up, and claps hand rapidly!) ;)

  • replied 10 years ago

Amazing. I don't see an issue with the crossover blouse, looks beautiful

  • Transcona Shannon replied 10 years ago

Sveta, you blow me away with your impeccable style :)

  • Jaime replied 10 years ago

Really gorgeous all around. I love #2 and #3 but it is hard to pick a favorite.

  • Sveta replied 10 years ago

At last I got to the computer to respond :-)
Thank you all very much for your kind words and comments!
Joy, the striped top in #3 is not tucked in - it is not long enough for tucking! The bottom band just barely covers my belt and rides up as soon as I move my arms :-( I really wish it was 1-2" longer...but it works with skirts really well so I should not be greedy, right?:-)
Firecracker, you cannot see it in the picture but this mesh sweater has a silver lurex tread in it so silver flats are really no-brainer and matchy-matchy with it ;-)
Lyn D, I actually like the mesh sweater better over the shirt than over a tank: it looks more streamlined this way.
Jeanie, I don't know if Gap khakis are the same, I bought mine back in the spring. I did sized up one size for the slouch and I really like the tapered legs. Mind that my calves are pretty big so they may not be as tapered if your calves are on the thin side.
Kristin, actually I don't think I would wear and enjoyed these khakis as much as I did this summer if they were of a safer neutral color: blush is kind of unexpected here and I really like it!  Before buying them I did a research and created  a Pinterest board on how to wear blush pink. After I did this I realized that they have potential to work with my wardrobe and I took the plunge!
This is my Pinterest board if you are interested.
Suz, I am   so  glad you made me to keep the Foxcroft shirt, you are it's fairy godmother now!:-)
Angie, you are too kind, thank you!
merwoman, your comment about handbags is really funny because I often feel I don't use them enough in outfit creation and I don't have a good selection...

  • Karie replied 10 years ago

    I don't even think I can pick a favorite, they're all fantastic!

  • jayne replied 10 years ago

1 and 2 are just wowza stunning!  love them all, but 1 and 2 stopped me in my tracks

  • CocoLion replied 10 years ago

This is the first time I cannot pick a favorite of the week, because they are all too fantastic.  I will say, you look great in the pink and white combo - love you in those soft colors.

  • Lisa replied 10 years ago

A great week.  #1, I like this as is and would love to see this look with an edgier shoe to echo the studs on the top here.  The current shoe is very soft compared to the rest of the outfit.  #2-The shirt is gorgeous here, I hope you can snatch up another one. #3-I don't mind the top here with trousers, maybe because it looks like you tucked it in? #4-Great idea to mix the white and taupe here, you really see the details in the top with this combination.  Have you worn this top with the light colored trousers in #2 yet?  #5-This is a fun striped top, I'm looking forward to how you remix this piece.

  • Ariadne replied 10 years ago

I love everything - I am especially partial to #1.  Great new finds!  You've honed your style so well; everything is very "you."

  • Vicki replied 10 years ago

Hello twin, as in #1 (skirt) and #5 (shirt), but you've got me beat on style!!!

Wow, Sveta.  This is a Sveta's New Stuff Tutorial, and I'm taking notes and making copy shots as fast as I can.

Love them all and I can't begin to pick a favorite.  I love the light-patterned textures you've chosen in a few of these, which are a knockout.  The Brooks Brothers striped tee is quite interesting to me; how does it feel and I'm intrigued by the shimmery nature of the silver.  No more road-testing needed!  Full speed ahead.

  • No Fear of Fashion replied 10 years ago

Fabulous buys. I like everyone of them.
I also have a black and white horizontal skirt and love it.
The polka dots over the white blouse is a find. And I think the cross-over in the last picture is supposed to be like that as it looks pretty good, not to say perfect.

  • Inge replied 10 years ago

*Happy sigh*, these are all perfection, Sveta, and you bet I am taking notes here!
The VC tube skirt in the bold stripe (I got it too;-) is crazy fantastic on you, super flattering and I love how you've styled it here.
I also can't stop admiring the Pleione faux wrap shirt on you, so glad that you went with the red & black stripe, it looks amazing!
Those blush trousers with the white button-down, stunning, stunning, stunning. (I'm holding thumbs for that tunic to go on sale immediately:-)
And so are the yellow blazer and mesh jumper outfit. You make everything you wear look so effortlessly elegant, Sveta. So inspiring.

  • Marley replied 10 years ago

Wow Sveta - these are all great!  I love the way your belt in #2 mirrors the beads/pattern of your necklace - very cool detail.  I'm glad that you got the VC wide-striped skirt - it looks really good on you!  Also, if I remember right, I was one of the naysayers about those GAP blush colored pants - and I was completely wrong!   You look great in the pants - the whole outfit just makes me smile.  I really like you in the softer colors - something that I would not have expected, but they are very flattering on you!  The belt in #3 is wonderful!  I've been looking for a belt like that for ages and can't find one.  What is the brand?  (if you don't mind sharing.)  I think that all of these outfits are just perfect - you really did a good job at NAS!  Thank you for sharing!

  • Sveta replied 10 years ago

Thank you for your moral support! :-)
Denise, I am surprised myself that I like blush and white so much  - and I don't really like pastels at all. Never say never I guess!
Lisa, mesh taupe sweater and blush khakis have a date together in a near future :-)
Vicky, BB striped tee is very pleasant quality. I usually find it hard to find metallic which do not feel scratchy and rough but this one is very soft. Silver stripes are semi-opaque and it adds texture as well.
Inge, looks like we are twins several times over now :-) Too bad I could not overcome the plastic-y feel of the Mural bomber :-(
Marley,  honestly I would like silky slouchy blush trousers more than khakis but
those work pretty well too. I remember that not everybody was a fan but it was a chance for me to jump on the pastel trend and I am glad I did: I would not have worn these khakis as many times if they were different color. The belt in #3 is some no name brand from bargain store for $5 - it is bonded leather in purplish taupe snakeskin  pattern. My mom got it for herself and when I saw it I just had to get it too - and it was the last one and just the right size for wearing with pants.

  • ElleH replied 10 years ago

I can't pick a favourite, they are all killer as Angie would say.

Adding #1 to my Pinterest board as we speak.  LOVE this!
