WIW: polka dots, stripes and checks

It looks like winter is well on the way here: this week I had to scrape ice from my car for the first time! :-( It is really time to pack away the summer stuff now...

I have decided to try Angie's flared skirt and pullover ensemble but instead of skirt to use my fit and flare dress. I think this Only Mine polka dot pullover is the only one I have with a banded bottom, seems like a hole in my wardrobe :-) I really love these animal print booties. At first I was concerned that the color so pale but they really work as neutral and nude with bare legs.

Dry day so Angie's flared  legs with trendy top ensemble felt like the right one. I really want to wear this Pleione top more into cold weather so I layered a tux blazer over it.

I am not sure if this outfit was a success or a disaster. My hubby told me I look like a nurse in it - too much white. I wanted to wear a textured black hose here but it felt too heavy so I went with the nude. This dress proves to be hard to style in the fall, it was easier in summer. I wonder if it was another shopping mistake...
Sorry for a very bad picture quality, had to take them in a badly lighted office.

While it is still relatively warm I decided to bust out my new trousers, They are pretty lightweight so I am going to wear them from April until October. I got them last Saturday and thought they fit perfectly. However wearing them today i realized tat I need to take them in in the waist because they slouch down otherwise and there is no belt loops. I like the mini window pane pattern and tuxedo stripe and other than in the waist they fit really well I think.

Thank you for looking and have a great weekend!

You look like a nurse?? Hmmm. Not to my eye. I love the dress!

But I completely understand the issue about styling in the winter with dresses, especially lighter coloured ones. Even sheer hose in a dark colour can feel too heavy (especially for me with light hair). Nude is okay (it looks great here) but then as it gets colder they do not provide enough warmth. I cannot layer them like Angie (don't like the feel of them) and anyway, that's not much warmth, either. So, what to do?

But back to your fab outfits!

Love #1 -- the boots with their spots are a fun echo of the sweater. #2 is gorgeous. #3 is also great. #4 is fab, too!

Outfit #2 is killer! I love the colour combination and the silhouette.

Not sure why your hub says you look like a nurse in #3, but you don't. It's a nice sporty look!

Love the slouchiness of #4 and 5.

Stunners, all around!  #3 is not at all nurselike, and I love the way you've styled it.  #1 is vibrant and fun -- love the echo of 'dots" on you booties, too.  I would copy every one of these, except I'd never expect to be able to match the fabness of the originals!

They're all fab, and I don't think you look like a nurse at all! What about black boots?

  • Deborah replied 10 years ago

Im sure I must have seen your leather trench before but WOW.  It is stunning.  #2 is my fave here but all look amazing and I don't think I have every met a nurse as stylishly uniformed as you in your outfit.  Gorgeous.

Lovely, so interesting and feminine, all of them. You always pull of off such different looks in a span of a just few days, yet they all look You. I'm sure those style spies at your office keep being puzzled by the size of your wardrobe :-D

I am in LOVE with the polka dot sweater over the red dress outfit. Absolutely brilliant and gorgeous!!!

  • Emily replied 10 years ago

#2 is my absolute favourite, followed closely by #3.  The blouse and sheath read as a long sleeved dress to me, I think they are very cleverly layered.  I really like the choice of brown boots and nude hose.

Also, your outerwear is all so fab!

  • Kristin L replied 10 years ago

They all look great. #1 is my favorite by far. I don't see nurse in #3 either.

  • Angie replied 10 years ago

How fun are you, Ms. Dotty-Stripe-Checked-Delight. Your style is eye candy. End of story.

Fabulous outfits- all of them, Sveta!
Brilliant idea to wear the sweater over your dress! I love that look on you.
The striped cross-over top is so gorgeous on you. I like it both with and without the jacket. And, OH, that trench is fabulous!
While I get the difficulty of styling light colors in colder weather, I totally think the white and black dress works. Maybe hubby's eye just needs to adjust to the look.
I love the new tux pants on you!

  • Shirley replied 10 years ago

I love the trench.  The iridescent hue always attracts me but it never looks good on me.  But it's gorgeous on you.

  • Aquamarine replied 10 years ago

They are all fantastic, but #2 blows me away. You look like a model.

  • replied 10 years ago

You look great in all of these. I don't see a nurse at all!

I am going to copy your 4th look, I love it.

  • Lyn D. replied 10 years ago

    #4 is my fav. too!
The turtle neck with the jacket neck-line is so beautiful together.
    When I was Nursing I didn't look like #3!

  • Amy replied 10 years ago

Funny, the "nurse" outfit is my favorite :)

  • Caro in Oz replied 10 years ago

YLF in all of these. I have so much love for #2. It's what I think of as a classic Sveta look (that's a compliment).

  • Sveta replied 10 years ago

Thank you all for the comments!
I am glad the "nurse" dress was not a complete bust. Cannot trust my hubby style remarks: he also said: unexpected combination of black and white" What? It is a classic combination, not unexpected...but I think he really meant "bold" :-)
I did not even think of dots of the sweater repeated by dots of the booties in #1, it was not by design for sure :-)
Suz, I agree, it is hard to wear white dress in  winter with tights. I have a pin with white dress and black opaque tights and booties I like but I am not sue I can pull it off myself.

    Husbands can say funny things.
I love all the patterns and colors you wore this week. Your tuxedo trousers are way cool!
