WIW: mostly neutrals with a break of sky blue!

I am heading off to pick up our new car (YAY! My old Buick survived until this day!) so this is a quick post. Hopefully with our car woes over I will have more time for the forum this coming week...

pic 1
It was very warm day (even if rainy and overcast) so I braved a skirt sans hose for the first time. Everything in this outfit is from the last season or older but I hope it still reads modern?

Striped tee - Brooks Brothers
Bone slingbacks - Ron Hommerson
Nude clutch - boutique in Portugal
Midi flared skier - Spanners (consigned)

I bought these trousers last fall but did not get to wear them then because they are summer weight fabric. They supposed to be slim fit but I sized up to get a slouchy fit in them - and full length. They are quite OTT with mini-windowpane pattern and black tuxedo stripe so I tried to keep the rest of the outfit in the same colors and simple

Trousers - Long Tall Sally
Tux jacket - Banana Republic
Tee - Lord&Taylor via The Bay
Danier black satchel
Me Too red pumps

It was raining and  gloomy for the second week in a row so I rebelled and decided to wear this sky blue Zara jacket to brighten my day. This is another piece which require a careful styling because of the striking color and style. I decided to wear "almost" a column of black with it. This silk shell is in a pattern of black and taupe and I may be crazy thinking it works with this blue but I quite liked it: somehow all black felt too dark here.  These skinny pants are full length so I cuffed them to be cropped (remembering that Angie said this length of the jacket looks best with crops)

I tried the shell untucked and with a faux tuck on the side - any preferences?

Zara gathered shoulder jacket
Skinny black pants - Banana Republic
Halogen silk shell
J.Renee Tomlin pumps (Angie's pick)
Danier dove satchel

Cold! We woke up to a mere 3C that morning so this felt almost like winter again (I also wore a trench over this outfit and it was still chilly).
I tried to lighten the winter look with cream jeans, light booties and a bag though. Only in the middle of the day I realized that I have 2 snake patterns going on in this outfit - in the booties and in the jacket panel. I hope it was not too much!

Danier asymmetric leather jacket
Tippi merino sweater in navy - JCrew
Sam Eldeman python booties
Danier dove satchel

Thanks for looking and have a great weekend (and for Canadians a LONG weekend - YAY!)

Sevta every time for me you hit a home run in style. congratulations on the new car. I was really sad when my beloved buick rendevu passed away gave me 11 good years.

The gloomy weather certainly didn't put a damper on your fab outfit creating! I love #2 and have the same LTS pants, also ordered last fall. I wish I had a shirt as awesome as yours to wear with them! Your sky blue blazer looks uplifting for a rainy day. Congrats on the car purchase.

Congrats on the car! You look so amazing in each and every one of these! I adore the midi in #1, and those loose pants in #2 are outstanding! Then #3 blew me away with the unexpectedness of the blue with the blacks/taupes, but it totally works!!! You are SO creative and fashionable! And #3 is awesome with the more muted palette and duo of snakeskin. Wow. You look like a model.

I'm right behind you in the vehicle hunt!  I'm nursing my van through the summer --- can't manage car payments and a trip out West (Yellowstone/ Grand Teton).  No A/C, funny sounds, oil leak, and automatic doors that are possessed.  Fingers crossed!

These outfits look terrific, Sveta!  I love the fit in the pants in #2, and the pairing with the tuxedo jacket is fab.  The patterned top under the blue jacket is an inspired touch, and the relaxed neutral ease of #4 gets a bit of punch from luxurious leather and snake print.

It's been cool and rainy here, too!  I'm just trying to wear enjoy all my toppers, remembering how I miss that 3rd piece in the summer!  You've got interesting and beautiful jackets, Sveta, and you have such skill in putting them into outfits!

We could use a break of sky blue here too Sveta - congrats on solving the car issues and you looked amazing all week given the freaky weather and car games!! I really like #4 - the light pants keeps it from reading too wintery love the interplay of the grey, brown, cream & black - the reptile prints together make it work!!

I think all these looks work beautifully.  I love the pairings and the pop of blue.  Number 2 was jaw-dropping.  That gray satchel works with everything!

    Perfection.

  • Helena replied 9 years ago

You look fab for sure!! Enjoy the LONG weekend!!

  • marianna replied 9 years ago

So beautiful. And that blue Zara blazer is incredible on you!

  • Angie replied 9 years ago

Your killer style is a treat for us all, Sveta. Love all the outfits - especially #1. So elegant and pretty. (I'm going to wear a full skirt tonight because you inspired me).

Glad the Buick made it, and go away cold weather. Enjoy the long weekend. xo

Sveta, I love these all but #3 just stood out to me in the best possible way!  That pop of sky blue is so beautiful and radiant, and I love the sharp tailored lines of the blazer over the softer print top.

2 is my favorite, definitely. Sharp but not too severe if you know what i mean. Thanks for sharing all of these. Congrats on the new car!

  • Gracie replied 9 years ago

Oh, I'm in love with 2... love the graphic tee and the printed slacks with the tuxedo jacket and your black bag.  All outfits are fab but this one did me in :)  Congratulations on your new car.

  • Jjsloane replied 9 years ago

Congrats on the new car. I'm also looking for one, but like BethAnn I'm delaying it as long as mine will allow (fingers crossed for me too)

Great style in all of these and I especially love to see that blue jacket!

  • Suz replied 9 years ago

Yay for the new car! And you look wonderful. I love the sky blue jacket on you. So pretty.

  • Karie replied 9 years ago

Running out the door to dinner in a sec but I just wanted to pop in to say all these outfits are fantastic. I can't pick a fav, I love them all. That leather jacket in pic #4 is ultra fab!

  • Jaime replied 9 years ago

Wow! Your jackets are all so beautiful on you!

  • rachylou replied 9 years ago

I like how you've styled the sky blue blazer here!

  • Neel replied 9 years ago

Another set of stellar outfits Sveta. I love the double snake print outfit the most. The prints are subtle enough to not look OTT IMO.

And I almost bought a similar mini window pane pants last week. I love that these look more white than black. Citron and cobalt blue would be lovely with it too.

The pale blue jacket is gorgeous on you. And that's a nice way of saying "take that weather" ;)

  • fuzzylogic replied 9 years ago

You always look great as you push the fashion boundaries, Sveta! My fave is #2 for the printed tee and the pop of colour in the shoes!

Thank you all for your kind comments!
Windchime, high five on the same LTS pants!
Beth Ann and Jeanne, we SO hoped to squeeze a couple of more years out of the Buick! Alas, we had to do repairs on the engine in late March which set us back $500+. Then in early May we smelt gas inside and when we took it to the garage they said we have fuel line leak, oil leak and transmission leak - $1400+ in repairs - and we said "enough"! I hope you will be able to "baby' yours  until you can replace them!
Angie, inspiring you is even better than getting K2K rating! :-) I wish I could see your skirt outfit...
Rachy, I am happy that this outfit with blue jacket gets your approval, I know you did not feel much the previous one :-)
Neel, I am afraid the pants in #2 are more black than white - these mini patterns are so tricky to get picture of!
We got the car and so far I am happy with it. This is the first time we switched from large cars to a compact (Toyote Corolla) so I was a bit nervous but it is surprisingly roomy inside even for such tall people like mu hubby and me :-) Hopefully it will save us on gas and will be reliable and repair free for a long time (knock on wood!)

All amazing as usual, Sveta! #1 reads more than modern. I'm especially fond of it without the jacket because we can really get a sense of the slouchiness the sweater provides, such a great contrast to the ladylike lower half; plus it highlights all the fun stripes. Totally love the graphic feel of #2, those pants are super. What a fantastic fit! I'd love to find some that fit me like that :D The pastel blue in #2 looks fab with the moody floral and dark cropped pants! Really striking. Both versions look great, but I rather like the side-tuck because it adds another note of disharmoniousness. Definitely not too many snakes in #4. I really like how the brown jacket softens the darkness on top, I need to keep that in mind to try. You are one fab lady! And congrats on the car ^^
