WIW: more catching up - and it was cool enough to wear some NAS loot!

I am falling behind in posting my WIWs even though I was trying to take the pictures diligently for the last weeks - so here is another catch up.

This was 2 weeks ago - sitting now in the beginning of September in 30C heat with almost 100% humidity I cannot believe what I was wearing just 2 weeks ago to keep myself warm in the end of August!

A lot of drape is going on here - for me anyway: drapey cross-over blouse and fluid track pants. Coated utility vest seemed to balance out this drapeness for me.

Buying these Express cropped Editor pants was a mistake - they are too baggy on me  after a half day of wear. I got them for a sudden business trip when I realized that I have not summer pants which are business casual appropriate but now I wish I went with the Columnist style...

I wanted to try wearing leggings again but this is the only tunic I own which is long enough for leggings in my eye. It was cool enough for this tunic so I jumped on the chance to wear leggings with it.

Trying to wear my new summer pieces while it is still summer. This Gap peplum top does require not hot weather because the fabric is pretty think and substantial. I wore it with a pencil skirt before but tried bootcust here. These Paige Hidden Hills are barely long enough to wear with the flats so I opted for the brown loafers here as I prefer higher shoe vamp with the bootcuts. Sky blue Zara jacket was for the freeing AC in the office.

Debut of my Topshop vest from NAS! I am playing around with it to see what can I wear it with. Here I opted for lower contrast bottoms and shoes with the vest but added a darker top - hopefully it worked.

This one is closer to "fails"  - I think because this Gap moto jacket is too short to wear with medium rise jeans and tucked in top - too many horizontal lines! However this top semitucked just did no feel right here either. I still like the idea of the colors together but will not wear this moto in this combination anymore. At least taking pictures help me to figure these things out :-)

Thank you for looking and as usual all comments and suggestions are very much appreciated.
Hopefully I can catch up with the last week over this long weekend and become up to date :-)

Oh #2 is perfection!! This is the only way I like leggings, really. You look great!

  • Cerinda replied 9 years ago

Me, too:  Love #2.  And your hair looks great, too.

  • Maneera replied 9 years ago

Oh I love all of these, Sveta. But #2 is BEYOND GORGEOUS. You look fantastic!

Love #3 with bootcuts. Smashing. Love the top in #1. Too bad the pants stretch out too much too soon, coz the outfit is really great. #4 & #5 are Sveta Sensational! :D I just mean they're very very YOU!

You're looking really really great Sveta. Hope that you're feeling better too.

They are all fantastic, I really love the new vest, it looks wonderful with your pants.

I am especially excited to see "our" vest! I think it looks best with dark colors just like you have done here. The flares are fantastic in #3!

  • carter replied 9 years ago

Oh wow! #2 is just stunning. The shoes you're wearing in #4 are Hush Puppies??? Love them!

  • Suz replied 9 years ago

So interesting to see that Topshop vest and hear how you and Shevia both agree it works best with darker tops. It's fun with last year's jeans.

Love all the outfits, but the tunic outfit most. And also love to hear your analysis --what you say about #5 makes sense and is helpful in understanding proportions.

My favorites are 1 and 4. I'm sorry that the Express pants got baggy during the day because they look great in the photo.
The vest in 4 looks better on you than on the model, and I love it with those plaid Kuts. I also want those shoes and am sorry to see that they are not available.
Each outfit looks wonderful. My least favorite is 5 but I'm not sure why. Would a semi tuck with some of the striped top falling below the jacket work?

More fabness, Sveta! I love 2 and 4. I really like all the choices you made in 4, that outfit looks very balanced to my eye. And I don't see the fail in 5 -- I'd actually have felt quite pleased with myself if I managed to put together this outfit, so I have a lot of learning to do! Thanks for sharing your thoughts and analysis, it's really helpful to someone like me who is trying to step out of a cautious classic look without embarrassing myself.

Fab week, Sveta. I LOVE #4. That's killer - old and new NAS items. Fun!

#2 is my next fave. Tunics look REALLY fresh.

  • Angie replied 9 years ago

Back to say two more things:

    • Hope your Dad is doing okay and DS too
    • And you are FABULOUS in every way.

Peri, Cerinda - it is funny you like #2 the best and I was really hesitant about this one. I guess I went legging / tunic overload 5 years ago and need to warm up to the style again ;-)
Maneera, your comments are always so detailed and gracious - thank you.
    Bijou - thanks!
Shevia, yes, "our" vest! Try it also with white - I love that too! I posted another one today just for you :-)
Carter - yes, the shoes in #4 are Hush Puppies. I like the design of the strap as it helps them to stay on the feet better. They also good for wider forefoot and square toebox - which is a rare thing for me to find in pointytoe . I wish they came in different colors too.
Suz, and white too for the vest! Don't forget the white - I think it aslo looks great wit this color!
Joy, so you see what I see in #5 :-0. Semituck did not look good there either. I think that maybe lower contrast i the bottoms and top compared to the jacket will work better?
Aliona, you are welcome. I will be happy if my mistakes can be useful for somebody - this is why I post WIWs in the first place :-) Good luck with "stepping out" - we can help you, you know? :-)

Angie, you are a sweetheart! My son is doing better, starting school on Tuesday and I am going to work with him to help him stay on track.
My Dad is not better unfortunately. There was a period after he was discharged and came home when he was almost back to normal but now it is going back again. We have an appointment in 10 days in the Memory clinic when they are going assess him for dementia and I am afraid we need to start looking for a nursing home now :-(

Ooooooh, sweet Sveta. That's soooo hard. My heart goes out to you. Let us know if we can support you. Your son is lucky to have you as his Mum. Much love to you.

  • Angie replied 9 years ago

Sveta, did you try these rust trousers? They look AMAZING. Love them with the fringe bag too.

  • Sveta replied 9 years ago

    You are the sweetest, Angie!
He-he, great minds...I just added them to my finds this morning. They do not have them in the store but website says they have the black version so I am going to call and check if they really have them so I can try on before ordering online as returns are not free for us.
I was thinking of making them into cropped flares so I can wear then ALL winter with the boots - what do you think?

  • Angie replied 9 years ago

Good idea, Sveta. I will pop into our Express tomorrow and fit them on if they have them.

  • Sveta replied 9 years ago

Just called the store - they have them in black. I am going to try them on and if I like them then I will order the rust :-) The long are not available in rust so they have to be the cropped flares if I buy them :-)

  • kellygirl replied 9 years ago

Whoa! Gorgeous outfits, Sveta! Every one of the mis a knockout!

  • lyn67 replied 9 years ago
