WIW: inspired by Angie and others

The first time I saw Angie's outfit with the matching scarf and blazer I was smitten. So pretty and sophisticated! I could not copycat it because I don't have such brilliant wardrobe items - and don't even have enough matching pieces in any other colors either.
So I came up with my own version ( pic #1 ) which was inspired rather than copied. In my case it was rather tonal than matching with 2 colors - ink and pastel blue. I really love this blue scarf I got at The Bay - the perfect lightweight summer scarf in a flattering for me pastel blue - not easy to find!

Now #2 did not come out as I expected at all. It looked fine in the mirror but I cringed when I saw the picture the same evening. I even made a note in the ensemble ( I try to save my daily outfits as  ensembles in my collectios - thanks Greg and Angie for the awesome feature!) not to pair this shirt, pants and shoes in the same outfit again. At least the lesson is learned!

For keeping it real I am posting a rare weekend outfit in #3 - rare because I rarely get to snap pictures of them. The slip ons are new and I hope the orange was not too jarring here.

#4  was worn to the dance on Sunday. Love my regular occasions to dress up and wear dresses! :-)

Thank you for looking and as usual any comments and suggestions are very welcome!

What are you smoking?!?! Wait I don't know the laws in your province, anyways....
    I LOVE #2.

  • Joy replied 8 years ago

Sveta, your outfits are always a treat. The scarf with the sweater is so pretty and contrasts with the tougher vest and the black drapey pants pull it all together.
The eyelet tunic is an amazing piece. I'd not thought of saving daily outfits as ensembles and need to start doing that.
You look slim and relaxed in #3 and gorgeous in your dress for dancing.

  • Cococat replied 8 years ago

I love 1 and 4. The dress is divine!

  • Maneera replied 8 years ago

You are smashing in that dress!!! Like gorgeous!

I love #1 and #3, great pieces and all are paired together beautifully. I love your scarf too.....very very pretty on you.

I really like the tunic in #3. Perhaps it needs more fitted bottoms and an open sandals? Would love to see how you style it next time!

    Love 1 and 4!

WRT to #2, I keep looking at it and sometimes I think the proportions work and then I don't ...I think it's one of those outfits that is JFE, you know? I wouldn't totally give up on it :)

I love your weekend look in 3 as well and I like the orange shoes.

My God, Sveta! Another dress  cut for You! I'm delighted! Delighted! DELIGHTED...:-))

  • lyn67 replied 8 years ago

I think I've lost my mind looking at the dress...but nr 1 is also gorgeous. Only I don'tknow how can you wear long sleeves and scarf+waistcoat and long pants in summer???? We are hitting 38°C these days outside, not to speak about seldom AC here, or  when having to get in a car left for 10 hours in a sunny parking lot...

  • jackiec replied 8 years ago

Wow! I just love you in the tonal blues of #1. I do agree though, aren't you hot? Oh my your dancing outfit is amazing. Everything is fab, Sveta.

I love the dress in #4 and the fun orange slip-ons in #3.  I have a hard time photographing weekend outfits as well, although I'm managing to get more of them this summer.  I love the scarf in #1 and I assume you must have had a cooler day than usual.

  • Suz replied 8 years ago

Wow, what a gorgeous set of outfits! I don't know which one I love best! The blues of #1 completely capture my heart (and I know why you were not hot -- the weather has been peculiar in Ontario; Kingston has been a bit warmer than London but on Canada Day I needed a jacket to be outdoors....). As for #2, I think it is really cool. I do see a bit of leg shortening, but in my opinion the whole is JFE and extremely interesting also. LOVE your casual look with the orange shoes. (So fun!) And as for the dress -- wow! It's the perfect summer dancing dress. Just spectacular on you.

Sveta, you are just so fashion-forward and cool. You always look great. I enjoyed seeing those silver sandals styled in two such radically different ways in #1 and #5. So versatile, and they look great both ways.

I love your weekend look, too. Those orange sneakers win.

  • Aida replied 8 years ago

Ooh how fun to see such a variety of dressinesses from you in one post! #1 (gorgeous color palette, and those pants are sooo good on you) and #3 (perfect casual outfit, the orange sneaks are super) steal my heart. I don't see anything wrong with #2, it's a bit less leg lengthening than you usually go for but hey, if anyone has the extra leg length to work that, it's you :) And of course you look stunning in your dance dress, that halter neckline is so very flattering.

  • Angie replied 8 years ago

I echo Aida - again. How fun to see all SORTS of looks in your WIW week.

I'm humbled to have inspired your look in #1. You look killer chic. And #2 is a HUGE hit. Another killer combination. No more cringing, young lady.

#4 is sooooooo pretty, Queen Dancing Frock.

  • Sveta replied 8 years ago

Thank you all for your kind comments.
Anna, this coming from you has a huge weight with me. Thank you for the confidence boost!
Joy, I LOVE using ensembles for saving outfits - huge fun and very useful.
Maneera, you will definitely see this tunic again! :-)
Diane, JFE maybe just the right term for #2 :-)
lyn67 and Jackie, this is definitely a weird summer so far. The sweater in #1 is thin cotton and 15C in the morning does warrant some topper. If I remember correctly I did remove the vest on the way home. However yesterday I wore a think linen sweater to work and decided to skip the topper - and I regretted it: I was shivering on my way home! I think all our summer heat went to Seattle to Angie!
Sara, it is weird that we have more time on the weekend but don't manage to take pictures as often as on busy weekdays, isn't it?
Suz, you got Internet connection from China!!! Thanks for loving my new orange shoes!
Jenn, it has been fun trying to style these new silver sandals in different ways.
Aida and Angie - thank you for the encouragement (especially on #2). I will try to get more pictures of weekends for the full range. I think I enjoy dressing for work more than dressing on the weekends because I prefer dressier outfits. I need to work more on the casual angle!

  • Jaime replied 8 years ago

These are all gorgeous. I wonder what you see when you look at #2 - but it looks fantastic from here. #1 is a standout too!

  • Runcarla replied 8 years ago

Woah! Over the top! What have you been studying recently, because your fashion sense is bang on. You are blessed with a model's body and though all outfits are inspirational, #4 sets the bar.

  • Sveta replied 8 years ago

shevia - I think I am struggling with proportions in #2 - leg shorteing?:-)
Carla, the only thing I have in common with models is the height (which is not always a blessing, believe me :-) ) I have not been "studying" anything recently, just trying to keep boredom out of my dressing. For some reason I felt not very inspired lately - maybe I need a change?

  • Meow replied 8 years ago

Love the variety! I tend to go straight to the photos and then read the post - must be my lack of patience! Lol! My first thought was you have such a sense of style and so effortless. Out of all the looks #2 stood out to me as the least "effortless" although I couldn't tell you why - perhaps it was the vest with the tunic. I think the leg shortening as others have said might be it too? What about black shoes instead of the white???

  • rachylou replied 8 years ago

I can't get beyond the dress... so good!

  • Lisa replied 8 years ago

That dress in #4 is gorgeous on you!

  • celia replied 8 years ago

I tried to comment before but don't know what happened to the comment :0)
The dress is stunning on you. Really really fabulous.
#1 is a good adaptation of Angie's outfit. I also loved that outfit but it has been too hot for me to try to recreate it.
I like #2. The proportions are good and flattering.
Your more casual look is also great. I see no problem with it.
