WIW: I am back after a long(ish) break!

First it was a business trip, then I got sick (I blame the planes and airports) so it has been quite a while since I posted my last WIW. I was more or less back to normal last week so I managed to take pictures again and also trying to be more active on the forum.

pic 1 Homage to Angie's outfit post and Feeling Fab in White post
Ever since I bought these cream BR skinnies in December I wanted to pair them with my black riding boots but something hold me back. After seeing Angie's outfit I took the plunge!
I think I am warming back to scarves especially when I do not wear an exposed belt in the outfit. Somehow this silk black / white scarf just felt right here to add interest to otherwise very simple and even severe outfit in black and white.

This boxy turtleneck in ink is too short to wear with skinnies (at least for my eye) but I think it is the right length for skirts. I wish I have more refined black booties for this outfit but so far my search for them was futile :-(

pic 3 Not so trendy
I guess tunic over skinnies is not a trendy look any more but I still sport it at least once a week because it is a flattering formula for my pearish bottom part and because it pairs well with tall winter boots. I usually pair this Missoni (for Target) tunic with black or grey top but this time I decided to cheer myself with a bit of yellow.

pic 4 Inpired by midi skirt post
I really enjoyed Angie's midi skirt review from the fashion week, got inspired and tried to recreate this pin with what I had on hand. This midi fit and flare dress has the neckline which is too deep and wide for my liking so I always ned to layer over it. I bought this cropped camel blazer 2.5 years ago but somehow it does not get worn very often so it is almost an orphan now. I also think I need to get a low contrast belt for this dress for a more streamlined effect. I thought it looked good but now looking at the picture I am not so sure...

pic 5-6 Unorthodox cobalt on Valentine day
Not very traditional for Valetine day but I wanted to wear cobalt trousers with navy and ink. I wore my cognac booties to work and discovered that my kitty chewed them as well! The naughty boy!!! Now I am definitely dyeing them ink  blue to cover all those teeth marks and scratches (and I think they would work better for my current wardrobe in this color anyway)
Also could not resist from posting the shot with my Danier black coat and cobalt/black checkered scarf :-)

Thank you for looking. As usual all comments and suggestions are very appreciated.

Be still my heart!  The whole set of outfits is amazing.  My favorite is #1 just because I have a soft spot for black and white combos.  Great week!  And welcome back.  :)

  • catgirl replied 10 years ago

Sveta! I will never tire of that tunic in 3 on you. Love 1 and 5 too! Actually they are all fab but those are my personal faves. Missed you!

  • Beth Ann replied 10 years ago

Welcome back, Sveta!  Hope you're fully recovered and having a little more time to yourself!

Love the cream skinnies on you.  Alas, they didn't work for me, but I love the warm white for winter.  The fit is perfection.  I like looser pants tucked into boots -- it seems fresh.

Funny that you find your red dress to wide and open in the neckline.  My version, from WHBM, has a jewel neckline and, with my, um, bosom, I always wish it were a v!

I think I may have to try my hand at navy and cobalt --- I've got a navy pullover,  but mine is appropriately.... a v-neck.

I missed your posts Sveta! Hope you get back to normalcy soon :)

I love the cranberry dress outfit. The browns are just perfect with it. Although I might have liked it more without the belt I think. This has to be my favorite outfit :)

Rest are stellar too! Loving the black and yellow skirt combo too. YLF for a not so perfect week :)

  • rute replied 10 years ago

welcome back! Love all your outfits!

  • lyn67 replied 10 years ago

Well, these are all great! Esp love the first one-(great winter whites'n blacks), and the yellow ones: hallogen skirta and the Missoni tunic.(I guess cuz am myself on the yellow for spring track, too:-))

  • Lynne replied 10 years ago

All fab, Sweta, you look amazing. I adore that happy pencil skirt, and the tunic outfit is one if your best.

  • EveningMood replied 10 years ago

You look stunning, and I am on my way to copy 4 and 5 ASAP. 1 I'm not copying only because I can't wear white pants with two toddlers around :)

  • Jaime replied 10 years ago

Welcome back and a pleasure to see your gorgeous outfits. They are all great but #1,2 and 4 are my favorites!

  • Sharon replied 10 years ago

Wow, I love every single one of these. #1, #3 and #5 are my favourites - you do pants so well! Tunics may not be trendy but you look so cool in the one you are wearing. Glad to see you back.

  • kkards replied 10 years ago

wow, you may have been away for a while, but you haven't missed a beat. great week. love #1, (wished those cream jeans had worked for me), #3's slightly 60's feel is great. and the valentines day cobalt is eye opening, don't know why i would never have thought to wear cobalt with navy, inspired!

  • Aquamarine replied 10 years ago

Fabulous group of outfits Sveta! I cannot pick a favorite, but I am in awe of the first one. Everything about it works perfectly, and you may have converted me to the white skinnies with black boots look...sometimes it looks forced to me but here it looks effortless.

  • Ornella replied 10 years ago

Oh, Sveta fabness in all its glory, but #1 is in a league of its own.

I'm glad to read you're better now.

  • dianne replied 10 years ago

Wow, these are all great looks but I especially love #1 - very inspiring!!!

  • carter replied 10 years ago

These are all gorgeous, but I agree with the others...#1 is absolutely perfect!

  • Elizabeth P replied 10 years ago

Welcome back!  I was wondering why you'd disappeared.  And what a great collectoin of outfits!  I'd definitely missed seeing them on a more regular basis.

  • sarah replied 10 years ago

So nice to see you Sveta, these are lovely looks. All of them. I cannot choose a favorite one.

  • leopardluxe replied 10 years ago

All the outfits look great and I especially love the Missoni tunic over the yellow turtleneck with the python tote. What great mix that looks incredible on you!

  • Joy replied 10 years ago

Welcome back! Every one of these outfits is beautiful on you. My favorite is 2 because I always am thrilled to see how you style the Yellow Raisin. Your coat in 6 makes me swoon. Please keep it safe from Kitty.

  • April replied 10 years ago

<waving to Sveta>  So nice to see you again!

All of these outfits really suit you, but I must give a special, personal favorite shout-out to #1 and #2.

  • Windchime replied 10 years ago

So nice to have you back!  You look wonderful, as always!  I, too, am craving yellow right now, so I really like to see your yellow pencil skirt and your super cool tunic vest!  Special love from me for #1 and #5 (that kitty shirt!  those cobalt trousers!), and it's a treat to see another pic of you looking fabulous in your Danier coat.

  • Karie replied 10 years ago

Sveta, you've done it again! Another series of totally gorgeous outfits. I adore that tunic in #3 - how long ago did you get it at Target? I am going there today, I must be a lemming if they still have it!
As for #1, well, scarves are my go-to and my white jeans are in constant rotation (in winter, no less!) so you know I love this outfit.
And I am so jealous (in a good way of course) of how wonderfully well dress slacks fit you. I am taking a class this week on tailoring ready-to-wear slacks, as I am convinced there isn't a pair of pants out there that will fit me perfectly off the rack.

  • MuseumGal replied 10 years ago

You look great Sveta.  Of couse I love the cobalt pants, but that mod jumper is all kinds of fab.  Also, I would love to see the burgundy dress without a topper, just see the color next to your face.

  • Diana replied 10 years ago

#1 is out of this world amazing! The rest are great too.

  • Susie replied 10 years ago

Welcome back, Sveta! It is so good to see you and you are back in plenty of style, as always. I love these outfits. I've always paired my cobalt pants with black but I like the navy and may need to try that.

    Glad you are feeling better!

  • Lisa replied 10 years ago

#1-My favorite of this group, because I like the high contrast of the jeans with dark colors.  Did the dye of the boot rub off on your jeans?  I would like to try this look but a pair of booties rubbed off on my jeans and I am reluctant to try with a tall pair of boots now.

#2-A successful debombshell look.  Plus it looks so warm and cozy!

#3-I always like a tunic with a slim bottom, this is a classic look to my eye, not dated.

#4-I remember this short jacket from NAS and don't recall you sporting it often.  Perhaps it is time for it to find a new home?

#5-How fun that you also have a checkered cobalt scarf!

Glad you are feeling better and back to posting!

  • Angie replied 10 years ago

Really missed you, and hope you're feeling better. (((HUGS))).

You rock my style world. It's as simple as that. All killer looks.

Tunics and dresses over pants ARE trending. And cobalt on Valentine's day is sublime. xo

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

Wow, Sveta -- you look sensational in every one of these!! (So what else is new, really.) But I can't pick a favourite. Every one is brilliant and worth studying.

#1 is so striking and you are right - it looks fab with the scarf.

I also adore #2. Can you wear that T-neck semi tucked with pants? That is what I would probably do -- faux tuck it in front.

Your Valentine's Day outfit is as gorgeous as they come. Just stunning on you!

  • Debbie replied 10 years ago

All are stunning! I especially like 1 and 3. Glad you are feeling better.

  • Sona replied 10 years ago

Sveta at her best. Glad you are feeling better.

  • donnat replied 10 years ago

Some really lovely outfits there. Very inspiring.

  • Aubergine replied 10 years ago

They all look wonderful! I'm especially impressed by how well you can pull off mustard shades! And also love the cobalt look.

  • Catnip replied 10 years ago

These outfits are all gorgeous!  I especially like #1 and #5.

    Welcome back!  We missed you!

  • Day Vies replied 10 years ago

I heart cobalt -- it's my absolute favorite so it's not much of a leap for me to consider it for Valentine's Day. I of course love it with black and white and how you have it styled is so chic. However #1 is my absolute favorite it's classic, elegant and timeless. I especially love the structure bag. Marking as a favorite!

  • CocoLion replied 10 years ago

I've missed your polished modern outfits.  Love them all, especially 2, 3 and 5!  I love the way that top looks on you in #2.  The detail on the hem is interesting and flattering.

  • Lyn D. replied 10 years ago

I am not a skirt fan but love yours with the T-neck!
Always adore your outfit posts :)

  • rachylou replied 10 years ago

Hey! Where was I when the Missoni tunics were at Target? Love the art deco-ness of the tunic. I'm there for that.

  • Sveta replied 10 years ago

Thank you all so much for your comments and good wishes - I do feel better now even if still tire quicker that usual.
Beth Ann, maybe we should swap those dresses? :-)
Neel, I also think that low contrast belt will work better with the dress there. Unfortunately this dress cannot be worn without a belt of some kind...
Aquamarin, this is what I thought too - black boots with white skinnies are too harsh but Angie's outfit convinced me otherwise. I think that bookending the boots and the top here is the key for the pairing to look natural.
Joy, I knoew you would like the yellow skirt one :-) Rest assured, my black coat is hidden safely from my little rascal.
Karie and Rachylou, this Missoni for Target tunic is from 2011 so I doubt it is still in the stores: that collection literally disappeared in a couple of days. I own this tunic only because it did not work out for Jonesy so I was able to buy it from her. As for the slacks fitting: almost all of them are tailored for me, Karie. I think you are doing a wise thing with that class: a little tweak goes a long way to a great fit.
MuseumGal, unfortunately I cannot wear this cranberry dress without a topper because the neckline is not flattering on me (what I was thinking when I bought it?!) Too bad, because it has sleeves and I could have worn it easily on its own if not for the neckline :-(
Lisa, I did not notice any dye rub from my Blondo boots at all.
Angie, it is always an honor to acquire a Killer rating from you :-) I hear you on the dresses and tunics trending now but I think they are different now, no? I would love to see a post on the topic! :-)
Suz, I do wear this navy boxy t-neck with baggier trousers  with semi tuck but not with skinnies: somehow the proportions do not look right with the skinnies on me. I think it is because I have wider hips and heavier bottom part thatn you - I need to balance them out with more length.
DV, the cobalt outfit is with navy, not black - and thank you for loving my B-day bag!:-)
Denise, I was trying to understand which detail in the hem in #2 you mean? This boxy t-neck has hi-lo hemline with splits but nothing else...

  • Vicki replied 10 years ago

Gorgeous all week long, Sveta, and I can't pick any favorite from this batch.  I love your Angie inspiration with your casual elegance and you look fabulous in the yellow Halogen (mine has become a closet orphan).  Then, your Gap cat shirt is a high five with paws and I've been prowling around on ebay hoping to find one in order to make my kitty proud.  Still no luck, so I will enjoy it on you.  Hope you're feeling much better now that you're home.
