WIW: my farewell to summer

The summer is over but still lingers so I tried to wear my summer pieces just a bit more this week before I put them away until the spring.

pic 1 Very simple almost white outfit. After I left the house I wished to change the belt from silver to gold to play better with the gold buckles on the shoes and the warm color of the tote...too late but a mental note for the next time!
Kut BF jeans - Nordstrom
BR striped sweater
Me too red patent pumps - Nordstrom
Silver belt from the discounts store
"Monty cousin" tote from Winners

pic 2 This outfit was inspired by Angie's post from last week on bootcuts and fluid knitwear I am not sure if this mesh sweater is fluid enough for this look but I tried anyway. I only wish it was a bit shorter or the shirt was a bit longer for shirt ends to be exposed...
Foxcroft shirt - Nordstrom
Taupe mesh sweater - Madewell
Editor white trousers - Express
David Tate animal print booties
Nude clutch from Portugal

pic 3 - 4 Another take on Angie's post but with fluid fit blouse rather than knitwear. I was not sure if this black tux makes the outfit "top heavy" but looking at the pictures I think it works. Actually I think it was my favorite from this week! It may have been a faux pas to wear the same pants twice in a row  but they promised rain for the whole week starting the next day so wore them while I could!
Note that I used color repetition but not color bookending here! :-)
Pleione blouse - NAS
BR tuxedo jacket
Editor white trousers - Express
Pos Hommerson bone slingbacks
Nude clutch from Portugal

pic 5-6 Long shorts again before I store them away! I needed a topper but none of my jackets seems to work for some reason so I decided to go with BF cardi because I was running late for work. This is so unusual for me to prefer a cardigan to a jacket! I got a subtle pattern mix here with micro stripes of the cardigan and micro-check of the shorts. Some bright red and animal print to liven the black / white outfit - or was it too much?
Silk shirt - Club Monaco
Halogen striped BF cardigan - Nordstrom
Micro-check long shorts - Winners
Vince Camuto slipper flats - NAS
Chromia satchel

pic 7 This was really trying to  wear summer BF jeans with the fall in mind. I am using a color repetition between footwear and top (per Angie's recipe) but no bookending for white jeans here - another faux pas? Even if so I liked it!:-)
Purple lurex top - Reitmans
Brown leather jacket - Danier
Kut BF jeans - Nordstrom
Naya purple booties - Nordstrom
Nude clutch from Portugal

As usual any comments and suggestions are very much appreciated!
Have a nice weekend!!!

P.S. You also can get a glimpse of my new deck in some of these pictures  - still under construction but we can see the light now! :-) I spend my whole last week of vacation slaving over it (instead of a trip to Michigan) and I am tired to the bone...but we have to finish it before snow comes!

A seriously great week. Wow! Nicely done.

  • Karie replied 10 years ago

Fabulous! You wear pants like no one else. Nice deck too.

  • Amy replied 10 years ago

Sveta, each and every one is elegant and perfect down to the smallest details. I'm in awe!

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

As usual, you look amazing in every one! I think my favourite is #2, but #3 is a close second -- no faux pas in sight! Your hair is dark enough to provide cohesion for the black jacket. Lucky you!

Animal print and red definitely not too much (to my eye) in 5/6. And the last one works, too, to my eye. It's all about balancing visual weights somehow, and you have done it!

You are the queen of long and fluid. I get to enjoy it on you because I will never be long! Your lines just go on and on and it's beautiful.

  • Deborah replied 10 years ago

All gorgeous, but #7 knocked my socks off:)  I just love the proportions of this outfit.  I have a quiet evening at home with DH out so I think I may have to have a play and see if I can replicate this:)

Your leather jacket in #7 is striking! It looks as soft as suiting material, and is beautiful with the shades of purple.
Your deck looks great- will it actually be covered in snow in soon? Hard to imagine being used to our mild Aussie Winters!

    Absolutely gorgeous.

A great week. I particularly love 1, 2 and 7. The soft neutrals of 2 and the fluid are just gorgeous. I like 5-6 best with the cardi - it really does work.
The deck is looking great - your hard work is paying off.

  • deb replied 10 years ago

Love them all but #7 is absolutely fabulous!

  • amiable replied 10 years ago

Whoa - the white with burgundy is amazing!  I'll be copying that idea!

  • Lantana replied 10 years ago

Thank you for posting these Sveta. I am taking careful note of the pants length in #1. This is how I need to wear my cropped white jeans.
The taupe and white is divine, my favourite of all these fab looks.

  • Angie replied 10 years ago

Killer week. Sveta owns her look and it's 100% inspirational.

Sveta, I see you in blazer #3 and it's just so perfect. I love that length and cut on you. Thoroughly modern and with just the right amount of swagger. My best.

#1 & #2 are my absolute favorites! Just elegant, simple and chic. Summer is hanging around in my area too, but I am really ready to move on to my fall wardrobe. Thanks for the post this gives me the shot in the arm (of inspiration) that I need to push through these last few warm days.

A perfect week as always. My favourites are the one with the pleione blouse(gorgeous on you) and #7.
You are a very glamorous dresser.

  • jurocha replied 10 years ago

You rock white pants. I love all outfits, but #2 and #6 are deserve a special mention.

  • Susie replied 10 years ago

I can't choose a favorite because they all look fab. You really do have such flair, Sveta.

  • JAileen replied 10 years ago

The expression "You look fab" was made for you!

  • replied 10 years ago

I'm going to echo Susie's comment, in that I was all prepared to try and pick a favourite... and I couldn't. Your style is absolutely stellar at the moment Sveta. Each look is stunning. Soft tone, dramatic tones, texture, fluidity. It's all there. Adding this to favourites :)

  • catgirl replied 10 years ago

These are all fantastic.  I especially love the last one - the booties look burgundy on my screen.  But all outfits work so well.  I hope you are happy with your week!

  • lyn67 replied 10 years ago

What a wonderfull farewell to summer, Sveta! Amazing outfits, and you are the YLF's Queen Of Trousers all the way! Esp loved the last one, love berry with white!++++

  • Vicki replied 10 years ago

Sveta, what a brilliant shout out to your summer!

I loved seeing your gold belt here, as Angie wore a gold belt last week with her Kut jeans and I've been wanting to do this, too.

We are Pleione red and black twins and I'm so happy to see your stylings here.  Why didn't I think of white!

You know what?  I love #7, because of the way you've brought white into your autumn days.  This one is one of my favorites as you blend light and dark tone.  There's no way you can do a faux pas.

  • Sveta replied 10 years ago

Thanks for your kind words, they really made my day!
I guess I itched to dress up again after spending a previous week in renovation gear, covered in saw dust...:-)
Deborah, I would love to see your rendition!
Lyn D., this leather jacket is in washed leather and it is very soft and almost fluid (if it was not that fitted).
As for the snow - or yes, it will come soon enough! Maybe we will be lucky like last year when it did not really fall until January - or unlucky like several years ago when we got the first foot of snow in the end of October.
Lantana, I have discovered this summer that I like white with tan/taupe/nude very much.
Angie, I hear you on the jacket. Actually it was this tux which helped me to make my mind about the navy blazer: I liked it well enough but then I would put the tux on and there is no comparison! On the bright note this tux is by BR as well so there is hope...:-)
Una, the booties are reddish purple more that burgundy although it may be a fine line between both of them...
Vicki, the funny thing is that the belt in #1 is silver but it does look gold I the picture- I guess it reflecting the yellow-orange of the deck :-) I wished I have worn gold though. Next time...
