WIW: blue to cool down the heat wave!

Last week was crazy hot - stepping outside was like stepping into a hot oven! When temps go that high the style quotient usually plummets because the main goal is to stay cool...

pic 1
I thrifted this sky blue corduroy  blazer a couple of years ago and it is perfect for A/C cover up  on a very hot day because it is lightweight and unlined. The combination of blue and coral makes me happy!

I did not realize before but the pattern on my skirt is very similar to one of Angie's dresses - bottle bottoms! :-) Again this skirt is perfect for a hot day because it is a lightweight cotton and unlined.

Silk banded top - my "sweatshirt'" :-)  - Le Chateau
Black patterned open-toe pumps - Ros Hommerson
Nude clutch from Portugal

It is amazing how easy it is to wear a dress when it is hot - I find myself reaching for them often than for anything else on these days.
Patterned dress - Cleo
White blazer - Melanie Lyne
Tomato red satchel - Chromia via Winners
Grey herringbone low wedge pumps - Trotters

pic 4.
It "cooled down" to +31C so I braved the trousers :-)
This is the first time I am pairing my blush pink khakis with ink blue - does  it work? I would pair silver flats with the blue but decided to go "warm" with gold and tan this time.
Blush pink khakis - Gap
Ink blue button down  - Le Chateau
Animal belt - Michael Kors via Rack
Gold slipper flats - Isaac Mizrahi
Tan Luce bag - Winners

Thanks for looking! Hopefully 4 pictures were not too overwhelming! :-)
Any feedback and suggestions are appreciated as usual.

#3 is fantastic. Also like #4.

  • replied 10 years ago

I like the blush with ink blue, and the dress in 3 is really nice on you, the white blazer is a great pairing. I also really like 2. The printed bottom with your silky 'sweatshirt' is great.

I feel for you Sveta, dressing in that kind of heat. But you have pulled it off magnificently. These outfits are lovely.

I'm particularly fond of #2 - I adore the blue top with the black/white pattern skirt. Very nice.

  • Susie replied 10 years ago

The color of that blue top is lovely on you- I like your sweatshirt! I also like the ink and blush together and you wear dresses so well. Nice set of blues!

  • Lyn D. replied 10 years ago

Not overwhelmed by your multiple pics, but ALWAYS overwhelmed by your Fab style :)

  • Sveta replied 10 years ago

Anna, any "like" from you is a thing to treasure because you have such unique style. Thank you!
Ceit and Susie, thank you for validating that ink blue and blush pink color combo was not a disaster!:-)
Shannon, thanks God it cooled down over the weekend and it is  going to ne mid-20s this week. The heat was really brutal with close to 100% humidity!

  • marit replied 10 years ago

OMG, I just love that dress in #3 - paired with the white blazer it's killer. =)

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

    What Lyn said!

I am in love with #3. You and Shannon always pick the BEST stuff from Cleo. That dress with the jacket and unexpected red bag is stunning.

Also love your "bottle bottom" skirt with the blue. And I think the blush pants work with the blue top. You need to give me lessons in how to wear those khakis. I have only worn mine twice and never reach for them. I think I will cut them into BF shorts which would get a lot more wear.

  • Sveta replied 10 years ago

Lyn D, you crack me up! :-)
    marit - thank you!
Suz, I bought just a few things at Cleo - this dress, short orchid trench and my blue patterned blouse. Usually their stuff does not fit me well  - unlike Shannon who is really lucky there.
A for the khakis  -  I think the color may play a big role. I don't think I would wear mine as often if they were some "safe' neutral color like grey, olive or stone. Blush pink makes them on trend, modern and unexpected and the cut is good too - slouchy on top with nicely tapered legs.

  • Parsley replied 10 years ago

I'd say you've maintained your cool style in spite of the heat, Sveta!

    I love 2,3, and 4!
The blue with black and white in #2 is stellar!
You look like such a chic professional in #3. I'm not totally sure about the red bag with this one, though. I think I'd rather see a cooler color, or black or white.
I love the blush and navy combination in #4!

I really like the dress in #1, but I associate corduroy so much with winter that the outfit seems seasonally confused to me, even though the jacket is lightweight. Maybe that's just me.

I hope the weather is a little cooler this week for you!

  • Karie replied 10 years ago

#3 and #4 are my favs! Oh wait, #1 and #2 are my favs! OK, so I love them all :)

  • Deborah replied 10 years ago

All fab outfits, but #2 is particularly stunning.  The colour of the "sweatshirt" is just lovely on you Sveta.

  • Adelfa replied 10 years ago

Love #3, because I've been trying to figure out how to wear my white blazer--inspiration! To my eye the bag works.

  • ManidipaM replied 10 years ago

I I clicked in intrigued by the first outfit, but they keep looking better with every frame. You sure look crisp for such hot and humid days! (Where I resort to tank and skirt, no toppers)

My favourites are #2 and #4. That last is especially bold and paid off in spades.

  • Marley replied 10 years ago

#2 - Oh MY!  Just stunning!  The blue "sweatshirt" is the absolutely best color on you - and I always love me some blue mixed with black and white.  Add, the pop of color from your lipstick and this outfit is just divine.  Also, i think the blush and blue in the last outfit look really good together - and I love your decision to accessize with warm, rather than cool colors!  So unexpected - but it works!

  • pil replied 10 years ago

All are terrific, though #3 is my fave. It must be the crisp white blazer. I find myself wanting your 'sweatshirt' in 2 and belt in 4 for myself!

  • amiable replied 10 years ago

Wow!  These are all just terrific!  Way to stay cool and stylish!

  • Lisa replied 10 years ago

A great week here.  You look lovely in this crazy heat we seem to have.  When will it end?  We've had heat lightening the past two nights.  My favorite outfit here is #3, I don't recall seeing this dress before and it's a fun strong print against the white blazer.  And everytime I see those slipper flats in #4 I think about getting a pair.  The texture look is what I especially like about them.

  • Thistle replied 10 years ago

These are all lovely, but #3 knocks it out of the park. Amazing!! #4 is my second favorite. So sharp, but I love the fact it is blue instead of black with the white.

  • Ornella replied 10 years ago

Gorgeous, but what else can be expected?

    #1 - Great color combination.

#2 - Love your take on black+white+blue. Join MaryK and Lisa in using this combo check -> here <-.

#3 - I love how white blazer calms down the busy dress, but then the red bag says "hold on, I am not a safe dresser at all" :-D

#4 - Eeeerm, yeah... copy copy quick. I die!

  • texstyle replied 10 years ago

Love your style Sveta - the first one is a perfect summer dress outfit in my eye. #2 is great, #3 is stunning and #4 is a definite "copy quick" as someone said - I hadn't even thought of wearing a leopard print belt with ink or navy blue and now I'm thinking it's brilliant the way you styled it with softer neutral tones in the pants and shoes.

  • Angie replied 10 years ago

I started backwards and have already fainted at #4 - and at the gal who NEVER EVER wore trousers. And continues to create killer after killer outfit without even thinking about it! My word :)

    *faints with white crash helmet*

  • Sveta replied 10 years ago

Parsley, this is where I take my inspiration for turquoise and tomato red paired together! Finny about the corduroy being a winter fabric for you - for me it is really a summer piece! :-)
Karie, Deborah, pil, amiable  - thanks!
Adelfa, let's see this white blazer in action!
Manidipa, I am able to wear these outfits because of the A/C in the office - all toppers come right off outside.
Marley, dark intense blues are my favorite blue colors. I am glad that pairing ink blue and tan / gold was not a faux pas :-)
Lisa, we have a cool down this week, it is SOOO great! I wore this blue dress last summer too. As for the flats I am not sure if they don't look a bit frumpy so it is ice to re re-assured you like them :-)
Thistle, the trousers in #4 are blush pink, not white.
Ornella - he-he, I can be a triplet with MaryK and Lisa even though my top is not cobalt but indigo...ok, I am a distant cousin!:-)
texstyle, animal print is a neutral, right? :-)
Angie, I did wore trousers before but I never felt fab in them. Now I do! :-)

  • Beth Ann replied 10 years ago

I hear the heat has broken, finally!  This was a great week for style, at any temperature!  I'm also a big fan of #3, although I can't imagine wearing even a loose solid silk top on a hot day --- I'd be all splotchy from sweat.  You look cool and calm!

I'm enjoying your Summer dresses.  I think the soft color in #1 is so unexpected, but so very lovely.  There's something special in the softness of the color and the femininity of the silhouette juxtaposed with your sculpted and refined facial features.

  • Sveta replied 10 years ago

Beth Ann, that silk top was splotched with sweat  -I had to run an errand around noon that day and I was drenched. On the other hand I would be drenched in anything ad silk is so light and cool against the skin..it went right into wash that night and did not suffer any problems.
And wow, nobody called my features "refined" yet, you have me blushing...:-)

  • Joy replied 10 years ago

There is so much hot weather dressing inspiration here! My favorite, or course, is 4 with the blush trousers and ink shirt. It works!!

  • MsMary replied 10 years ago

Sveta, I always love your WIW posts!  You are so elegant and chic!

#2 is just knocking me out!!!

  • Caro in Oz replied 10 years ago

    YLF I LOVE #2 & #4 - you look amazing in blue.

  • goldenpig replied 10 years ago

#3 is to die for! You look so cool and crisp, who could tell that it is hot out when you are so icy cool! And #4 is so you, I can't believe you weren't a trouser girl. Ink blue and blush pink is a refreshing combination. And #1 and 2 are so fab too--you can wear any shade of blue!

  • lyn67 replied 10 years ago

Wow, Sveta what a great week,  nr 3 and 4 are my faves!
