WIW: flares are out to play!

I was itching to start wearing my flares again inspired by Angie's ensemble and outfit posts. Alas, all this snow was preventing this from happening...until today!
These are basically bootcut jeans and not flares but leg opening is pretty wide so I thought they should do too.
I really liked the idea to wear a long coat with the jeans and jumped on the opportunity to wear my leather trench. I did not feel like layering a jacket under and shirt alone would be too cold so I decided to go with welted pullover. Lilac felt a good shade to pair with the blushing tan of the trench. I added a pink scarf to keep me warmer in the morning and wore it part of the day at work as well.

Leather trench - Danier (of course!)
Lilac merino Tippi sweater - JCrew
Hidden Hills Paige bootcut jeans
Sam Eldeman python booties
Shimmery gold belt - Winners
Dove leather satchel - Danier

After seeing Janet's amazing flares outfit I almost decided not to post this one because it seems so mundane in comparison but - oh well! not everybody can be as cool as Janet!:-)

Thank for looking and enjoy your long weekend (for those in Canada anyway)!

I love your look...especially #2. The scarf really pulls everything together.

Such lovely soft colors! This is one of the few colors I really don't wear well, so I always enjoy seeing it on others. It looks gorgeous on you, especially paired with the light pink and tan. The snakeskin and gray are a bit unexpected, and add so nicely to the soft overall effect. You look plenty cool to me :)

    #2 is Killer

    You rock those bootcuts, Svetlana.

  • Janet replied 10 years ago

Are you kidding me? You are sophisticated cool, Sveta! The jeans are totally fab on you, and so is that color of sweater. You look great.

  • Sveta replied 10 years ago

    neonginger - thank you.
Aida, I did not know there are any colors you don't wear well - it looks like you wear a multitude of colors adn always look spectacular.
Angie, it is really interesting that you said in the post "I vote leave off the scarf." and you selected the shot with the scarf here for the killer rating :-)
I also wore my amethyst drop earrings today and lost one somewhere during the day. This is really a bad month for earrings for me as I already lost one in Boston :-(

I know, surprising right? ;) To be fair I haven't given it a shot after over a decade of not wearing it, but I'm still OK enjoying it on you and sticking to my periwinkle and violet. I'm curious though, how close in color is this to the GAP kitty print shirt? That bluer periwinkle shade (and also the more purple violet shade) works well for me, on my screen this has more pink to it.

Love the colors you've brought together here and your lipstick, too.  So glad flares/bootcuts are back!

  • Caro in Oz replied 10 years ago

YLF - that lilac sweater is so beautiful on you :)

  • Sveta replied 10 years ago

Aida, Gap shirt is more blue with some purple undertones - I am attaching the picture.

  • Aida replied 10 years ago

Ah yes that's just what I'm seeing. Yep, that's not a color for me. On a related note, how pretty are THOSE two colors together?? I bet this Tippi would look lovely layered over the kitty shirt!

  • Sveta replied 10 years ago

It would, wouldn't it? The main thing is for the shirt to behave under the very thin sweater.
BTW there are tippi sweaters in a similar shade so they may work for you: I also consider on of those...I cannot find them on their website now but this is the color (heather hydrangea). This may be my next Tippi sweater if they make it in this color again...

Beautiful! I am loving all things flared lately.

  • Kiwichik replied 10 years ago

    Love you in flares.

  • rae replied 10 years ago

Not mundane at all! I love how chic you made pink and purple. The flares look classic and elegant here.

  • Joy replied 10 years ago

Ack! I've got coat envy! You wear those soft mid-tones so well. Stunning.

  • Janet replied 10 years ago

An aside: How silly is it of me that I kind of want a Tippi sweater because it makes me think of this little Tippi:

  • Karie replied 10 years ago

I love, love, love #2 with the scarf and the Petty booties. Fantastic! And you and Janet are equally cool :)

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

Absolutely stunning! I love them all but especially #2. Sometimes a scarf really IS the right thing and here you show us. Also, Karie is right. :)

  • Lyn D. replied 10 years ago

    WOW!

  • Style Fan replied 10 years ago

You look great.  I also am happy bootcuts/flares are making an appearance.  They are so FAB.  I love the look of a long coat with jeans.

  • Sveta replied 10 years ago

    Thank you ladies!
Janet - awww, what a sweetie-pie! You have the cutest Tippi of them all!:-)
    Karie - :-)
Suz, you know I think I am slowly getting back to wearing scarves in SOME outfits...somehow they do feel right.

  • Susie replied 10 years ago

The color is so pretty on you. And you are rockin' the flares!

  • Gracie replied 10 years ago

You're an expert at color mixing. I love the oyster gray accessories with these colors. I don't have anything in lilac, I might have to try and see how I feel in it.

Janet, you Must get a Tippi sweater in Tippi's honor! Such a cutie!

  • Transcona Shannon replied 10 years ago

Gorgeous Sveta! The color of your sweater is so beautiful with your colouring and wow, those jeans look soooooooo good on you! And I'm so glad you got that handbag - brilliant with your style and wardrobe.

  • Lisa replied 10 years ago

A lovely spring colored outfit.  I see the Tippi sweater is wool.  Do you hand wash or dry clean it?  Everytime I see this piece on you it makes me think of getting one for myself.

  • texstyle replied 10 years ago

This outfit is like a classic style icon Sveta - probably something many of us strive to achieve and you do it with such elegance and ease. Love it!

  • Golden replied 10 years ago

The color of the sweater is so flattering for you and the outfit is classic yet modern. Love it!

  • kellygirl replied 10 years ago

Of course, I love this! I wore something very similar. You look amazing in purple!

  • Sveta replied 10 years ago

    Thank you ladies :-)
Lisa, I don't dry clean any of my sweaters  and always hand wash them (now in the machine since I got a new good one). I reshape them while they are wet and dry them laying flat.
texstyle, you have me blushing - such kind words. Thank you!

    Beautiful, Sveta!
