WIW - something new but mostly old

Almost all outfits this week featured mostly old items mixed with one or two of this year acquisitions. I think this is my usual approach to a new season - get a few selected seasonal refreshers and mix & match them with items from the previous seasons.
pic 1 Gold flats were bought this year and the rest is at least one season old.
I prefer to wear this  mesh sweater with tank tops rather than with cami: thin straps just feel wrong to me here. This one is dark brown - I think it plays nicely with taupe.

Mesh polka-dot taupe sweater - Madewell
Isaac Mizrahi gold flats - Nordstrom
Luce tan hobo  - Winners
Michael Kors animal belt - Rack

pic 2 Hmmm, this one is mostly new - sandals are from last year but everything else was bought this year. Anyway, I really enjoy wearing white with nude accessories and really like how faded denim and tough biker style play against the refined sheath dress.
Calvin Klein b / w sheath - Winners
Faded denim biker jacket - Gap
Franco Sarto nude cage sandals
Nude oversized clutch from Portugal

pic 3  My "sweatshirt" silk banded top is new here. Again I like the low contrast of taupe, shades of white and nude...
Taupe mini-stripe Editor trousers - Express
Off white silk banded top - Le Chateau
White cotton blazer - Melanie Lyne
Nude Fidji pumps - Nordstrom
Faux python tote - Winners
Off white studded belt - Winners

pic 4 Now for some color! The clutch is new here. I hope that this skirt is not too dark for this coral shirt: it is not black but more like dark charcoal with silvery threads running through.

Spanners midi skirt - consignment
Franco Sarto nude cage sandals
Nude oversized clutch from Portugal

pic 5 Another dose of color - this time my favorite teal which always will be "sea water color" for me: this is how we called this color back home when I was a child. I decided to chop a couple of inches off these BF jeans. They were barely ankle length on me and I would never wear them full length as they were not flattering this way. They were also tapering on the bottom so I had difficulty to roll them up more than twice: they were too snug over my thick calves and drove me crazy. Now they are perfect! My only concern is that my legs look short in them, maybe I need to roll them up once more...

Thanks for looking and have a nice weekend!

I must say that #3 is my favorite outfit - the pieces are so classy and relaxed, but man, that skirt in #4 is so beautiful! You look great in pink!

  • AviaMariah replied 10 years ago

I love all these but 1 is  my favorite.  I am especially watching how you style the Gap jean moto as I haven't broken mine out yet.

These are all smashing on you! My faves are 1--love the texture of the top and the gold flats with this outfit!--and 4--so, so pretty on you! No, the skirt is not too dark at all. The colors, the style, and those fab nude sandals and clutch are lovely together. The other outfits are wonderful, too, with the soft neutrals, drapey fabrics, and that teal top!

I'm tired and didn't read the whole post, but I have to say WOW to the light denim with graphic B/W. So perfect and not something I feel like I see often, unless it's ripped jeans and a striped tee shirt.

Sveta you have such a lovely elegance about you!

I like the tank under the sweater, infact I too think I prefer it to a camisole. It looks very intentional whereas a cami sometimes says well I had to wear something!

The denim jacket looks really good on you. I like the slight oversized ness of it and it works great with the elegant dress.

#3 is just impeccable! I'm a little speechless.

And #4 is lovely, great colour on you. I think you must be the queen of the semi tuck:)

Wow, 3 leaves me a little breathless! Stunning outfit. Love them all but that's my favorite.

  • Lyn D. replied 10 years ago

Thanks for more Summer outfit inspiration Sveta!
I have a sheath in my holding area for possible selling as it is unworn so far, but I might try it with a jacket before I purge. Yours looks so lovely with the biker jacket.
The mesh top with cami looks so nice with the patterned belt and slouchy bag-FAB!

Another great week of wonderful outfits, Sveta. I really like how you are mixing and matching old pieces with new ones. #4 and 5 are my favourite. White BF's look great on you.

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

Unstructured structure -- and elegance defined. I love every one of these. Absolutely stunning. It is great to see how you keep all your wardrobe items working for you.

  • Susie replied 10 years ago

You do an amazing job of styling outfits; I admire your creativity. The skirt is gorgeous! I think 5 is my favorite because that color looks so very nice on you.

  • Angie replied 10 years ago

I love the way you mix old stuff with new stuff, Sveta! It's kind of fun doing that isn't it.

I sound boring. I apologize for the repetition. You have KILLER style, and that's the end of the story. Everything fits so well. Tailored and fluid. You are eye candy!

And #2 is KILLER to the power of KILLER!!! xo

So elegant! Love all iterations Sveta. YLF!

Love 2, 4 and 5!  It's true you have great style, thanks for sharing your chic-ness with us.  I like the way you shortened the pants in #5, and they are not leg shortening.  I don't think it's possible for 'short' to ever come into your look.

  • Sveta replied 10 years ago

Sorry for replying so late but life just butts in :-)
Thank you so much for your kind comment, they really make my day!
lyn, this skirt is right up your alley, isn't it? ;-)
AviaMariah, I would love to see your outfit version of this Gap biker jacket.
Firecracker, I am not a matchy-matchy person but for some reason I really like these nude sandals and clutch together.
Rae, this is an interesting observation ;-)
Deborah, semi tuck is my friend for sure!
    Kari, Mona,Suz, Diane - thanks!
    Lyn D., let's see that sheath un-orphaned!
Susie, deep teal is one of my favorite colors.
Angie, LOL! You are never boring and I am glad you liked the sheath with a biker jacket. Did you keep yours?
Denise, you are right, short and I just don't go together at all...unless it is my pet peeve of too short skirts or pants in the stores! :-)

Pure awesomeness Sveta! I love those nude sandals! And the orange/red bag makes me swoon. You have great Summertime style!

  • Beth Ann replied 10 years ago

You are so consistently polished and inventive in your dressing!  That said, #1 is my favorite, perhaps just because you like you're ready to go have a relaxing day off!  Oh --- and I'm loving those shoes!

  • Lisa replied 10 years ago

It's fun to hear about your remixing old with new.  It's nice to see how a wardrobe can be refreshed with just a few new additions.

#1-I really like this top here, and I think the layering is spot on.  I also would not like thin straps with a top such as this one, it would make me feel like I was showing a bra strap if the tank top straps were thin.

#2-Lovely mix of softer colors here.

#3-I am really enjoying all your white based outfits this season.  And the nude accessories are the perfect touch.  I'm already putting that on my list for next year's summer shopping.

#4-Fun bright coral here.  I'm stuck on light colors right now so I don't mind the grey skirt but I'd love to see it with a lighter color in an outfit remix.

#5-The length looks good to me.  Clever to cut off the excess.

  • Joy replied 10 years ago

Sveta, I've started and lost long posts on this thread twice today! I love your style and love these outfits! I'm especially impressed at the way you mix and remix your wardrobe. Your cage sandals and oversized clutch and smoking slipper loafers update everything.

  • Ornella replied 10 years ago

I like your fine-tuning for #1 - tank top, not cami. It's great when you can identify such tiny details that make or break the outfit for you.

#2 - Tan + white, now that's something to think about some more.

#3 - This fits to what I've once read you'r style being described as - Soft Dramatic. I like dramatic, but can't do soft, yet there's a lot of inspiration here.

#4 - It works, the shirt and the skirt. The skirt looks so glamorous.

#5 - My favorite of the lot, it's the white background for the beautiful coloured top and the belt *swoon* I hear you about the length, I have similar issue with the pair which I only wear rolled up. I think longer is a bit dressier and I like the length of the jeans as is.

  • Lantana replied 10 years ago

I'll echo Ornella's point about your fine tuning. #1 is a great example, your choice of belt, shoes and bag taking the outfit up a notch or three from casual.
