WIW - my "almost" no denim week

After reading Aida's WIW on no denim week I realized that I had "almost" no denim week too and not by design. Out of the whole week I wore jeans once - today and if my 2 pairs of trousers were not in the wash - who knows, it may have been the whole week...

Day 1
This is my new BB shirt I complained about yesterday. It is very fitted and does not need any taking in in the bust and back which is a rare occurrence for me.
Trousers -Express from Chicago meet (fitted on me by Angie!)
BB fine stripe shirt
Black sleeveless AT top worn as a vest
Gibson grey knit riding jacket from Nordstrom
Nude Fidjis
Sparkly spider pendant - gift from Russia

Day 2
I don't remember why I decided to wear this dress this day - maybe wanted to give it a few more outings before it is too warm for it?
Striped mod dress - my mom
Emerald green shirt - Winners
Hue wide waistband leggings (insanely comfortable!)
Born teal ballet flats from Nordstrom

Day 3
Another outing of my new BB shirt and a debut of my new midi skirt I consigned a couple of weeks ago. My mom told me that the whole outfit reminded her of a fashion from her youth (late 50s - early 60s) and because she wore that then it feels old fashioned to her. Well, I was not around yet at that time so it is fresh enough for me :-) I think I am really coming around to flared skirts because I quite liked this outfit.
Skirt - Spanner via consignment
BB shirt
Danier brown leather blazer
Red patent pumps - Me Too
Grey diamond pattern hose from The Bay
What I am not sure about is this weathered belt with this outfit. I wanted to ground this pretty lady-like look with something unexpected - do you think it is out of place here?

Day 4
I am on a midi roll! It cooled down this day so I wanted to wear my new animal print booties and I wanted to pair them with midi skirt for a long time.
Donna Morgan cranberry dress from Nordstrom
Navy and white striped scarf - Winners
Davide Tate animal booties
Patterned nude Hue hose
Danier leather jacket for outdoors

Day 5
This is where I have broken my unintentional non-denim streak.
Paige Canyon Flares from N.Rack
Emerald green riding jacket - my mom
White and black striped sweater - Winners
Trotters metallic grey tweed-like low wedges

Here was my week - any suggestions and comments are very welcome!
Have a great weekend and a happy Mother's Day!

I love #1. And despite all the cost associated with the BB shirt, it does look really good on you.

  • Transcona Shannon replied 11 years ago

Sveta, that BB shirt looks INCREDIBLE on you! Talk about a perfect fit! Please tell me you're slowly but surely falling in love with it? The pairing in pic 3 is so beautiful - ladylike with an edge! And #4 is making me woozy with it's high style quotient!

  • Sveta replied 11 years ago

Anna and Shannon- I really like the shirt but wished it was a bit longer - you see it is shorter than the vest in pic.1 I would prefer for the edge of the shirt to peek from under the vest... I was also doubtful if it is too tight on me but I guess I just have to get used to this fit as I think it fits well in the shoulders and under arms. If just a bit longer it would be perfect!

  • Jonesy replied 11 years ago

#1 is fab--I agree that the shirt is beautiful on you, but I do hear you on the short thing! Love the new midi skirt! I could go either way with the belt. Maybe since there is that black band at the waist, a black belt might be better? Don't know, just throwing that out there...Love, love that cranberry dress on you! #5 is chic and awesome too--how can you go wrong with stripes and that beautiful jacket, and PPL denim :)?

  • Sveta replied 11 years ago

Jonesy, I am afraid that denim was a bit too much PPL: I should not wear these 1.5 in. heels with these jeans as theywere dragging about 1 cm on the floor but it was too late when I realized that.

  • Jonesy replied 11 years ago

:)--too much of a good thing! I guess it's okay once in a while, vs. the constant dragging that leads to the dirty, frayed edges that I see so often here in college town.

  • Angie replied 11 years ago

All these outfits are 10s! WOW! KILLER x5.

So loving you in midis and trousers - never say never, Sveta!!!

  • Sveta replied 11 years ago

I know - I tried to fold the back edge a bit :-) Anyway isn't it fun to have too long jeans sometimes - does not happen often, doesn't it?:-)

  • Sveta replied 11 years ago

I never say never , Angie - I am just being skeptical about my abilities from time to time and need you to set me straight!:-)

  • cheryle (Dianthus) replied 11 years ago

Sveta, I am so glad the BB shirt is working after all. I felt a bit bad for encouraging you after I read about the hassle and expense getting it.

I love the red dress on you. I know you don't love pants but the pants in #1 really look great on you too.

Outfit #3 is exceptional. I love the layering and pattern. Very nice detail.

  • Sveta replied 11 years ago

Dianthus, it is not I who does not love pants - it is them usually who does not love me. :-)
However when I find that "soul mate" in a trouser world we have a love affair for real!
Don't feel bad about BB shirt: I am a big girl, you know :-) I quite like it, it just I wished it was a bit longer for more versatility. This is size 10 in fitted and I am going to try on size 12 in tailored when I am in US next time: maybe it will be a bit longer?

  • Kyle replied 11 years ago

Stylish, stylish Sveta! That skirt outfit is rocking my world, and those animal print booties are so great. I recognize the top worn as vest from our shopping trip! You are a master remixer. Wish I had your talent for that.

  • Sveta replied 11 years ago

Kyle - yes, this is the one YOU got for me at AT: I would never find it and even thought about it without you.
It was one of Angie's posts on work capsules where she suggested to wear sleeveless tops as vests which got me to try this one over a shirt. Can you imagine my glee when I saw Angie wearing this very top as a vest too in Japan? My "gut" just got a new reinforcement in my eyes!

  • Kyle replied 11 years ago

Sveta, you have an unerring eye for what works on you, and you know how to adapt trends and ideas perfectly. You are also a very careful and discriminating shopper. It all adds up to a very special style.

  • Amy replied 11 years ago

Sveta, your beautiful series of outfits here just sent me scurrying up to my closet to try layering knits over button down shirts. I'm so excited to try that out!

#1 and #3 are my favorites. Gorgeous!

  • AJ replied 11 years ago

Sveta, I can not find a thing to change in any of these outfits!

#1 is FABULOUS! Luv the BB shirt layered under the sleeveless top. Is that the same sleeveless top that Angie wore on her trip to Japan?

#2 Your mom is so talented! Luv that dress. It looks great with that green shirt!

#3 is my favorite! All the textures in this outfit make it so rich. The belt is an unexpected and stylish choice!

#4 That red dress makes me swoon every time!

#5 Now that's the way to make dark jeans look fresh for spring!

  • Echo replied 11 years ago

Wow, a killer outfit every day. That's my goal someday! I am especially fond of #3 (the patterned hose are fabulous) and #4 with the awesome scarf.

  • ManidipaM replied 11 years ago

ADORE #1, #3 and #4. SO very elegant and strong.

  • lyn67 replied 11 years ago

Killer week(as always), your BB shirt left me speechless! :-)

  • Nadya replied 11 years ago

    Sveta,
These are all great, but number three knocks my socks off. I love that skirt even more than last time you posted about it! Smashing outfit.

  • Meredith1953 replied 11 years ago

    Sveta you look glorious!
I love every single on of these outfits! Masterful mixing of pattern and shapes! I always appreciate your careful addition of specific brands and stores!

  • Isis replied 11 years ago

    I like all of these!

But #3 is masterful! I just love the skirt, the jacket, the belt! So many interesting layers, but not over the top! LOVE!

  • Angie replied 11 years ago

I will gladly hold your style hand any time :). But you have verve, Sveta! That's innate.

  • marianna replied 11 years ago

I love you in no denim, or in all denim, and in everything you wear. You are truly very stylish.

  • Tanya replied 11 years ago

What stunning week you have had Sveta! I love everything, especially #1 and #3. Gorgeous!

  • sarah replied 11 years ago

These are fantastic outfits, Sveta, and see? You've already reduced the price per wear on that BB shirt considerably : ). You look terrific in trouser and midis.

  • Sveta replied 11 years ago

Amy, I cannot wait to see the results of your experiments.
AJ, I believe this is one of the tops Angie featured in Japan posts - she recommended it last year as well.
Echo, Manidipa, lyn67, Isis, Marianna, Tanya - thanks!
Nadya, I did not really style this skirt when I posted it for the first time. I agree that some styling does make a difference.
Meredith, I often forget to add these details but if you find them useful I will try to remember.:-)
Angie, I had to look in the dictionary what "verve" is - sometimes I really feel that English is not my native language :-( Thank you for the compliment, it is really meaningful coming from you, my style icon! I often feel that I shamelessly copycat you instead of developing my own style...
Sarah, I have to wear this BB shirt twice a week for a year to diminish its cost per wear to below a dollar :-)

  • Jjsloane replied 11 years ago

1 and 3 knock me out! Great week for you!

  • Sona replied 11 years ago

love them all. Sveta you look really tall, slender and super fashionable in every look.

  • Joy replied 11 years ago

Every outfit is just outstanding! You always inspire me to try something new. This time, like Amy, it's a knits over buttondowns. Thank you so much for sharing your outfits with us.

  • fashionista replied 11 years ago
