WIW - inspired by today's post and my new jacket

Angie's post today on Casual Chic BF jeans and the fact that I got back my new BR tuxedo jacket from alterations prompted my outfit choice this morning (pic 1).

If you remember I got a black tuxedo jacket from BR a couple of week ago but it was 1 size too big. After consulting with my mom we decided to alter it so I kept it. Here is its debut with BF jeans. pictures 2 and 3 show the jacket before alterations (on the left) and after (on the right). In pic 3 I wear it closed on the left and open on the right (to explain some fabric gathers on the back in the left picture - I forgot to fasten it).

I was not sure if these jeans are too light and faded for a black blazer but I usually don't over-analyze and just wear what fancy strikes me and look at pictures after! :-) I like BF jeans rolled up much more that rolled all way down so this is how I wear them using sheer knee high socks :-)

Angie, I hope this jacket passes your fit test because I really love it. I am seriously considering to take it with me to Portugal!

You look fantastic - that jacket looks amazing on you!!

Might I ask...what exactly did your mom do, in terms of alterations? I have a few jackets that need such attention but I'm hesitant because I am afraid of how much work it will be = total cost.

    Thanks!

That is the perfect jacket for you to take on your trip imo. Day/night dressy/casual - it would be fab with so many outfits.

  • Katiepea replied 11 years ago

What a fantastic look! You are one stylish lady (and a clever seamstress too)!

  • Jjsloane replied 11 years ago

I love it, what a difference good tailoring makes.

  • krishnidoux replied 11 years ago

OMG a world of difference. How clever of you to have altered it to this length. BTW I really really like this jacket with your BF. It looks perfect from the back too.

Also, how are you wearing the BF these days with the weather? Surely not as shown above unless inside... just curious, cause I'm having trouble.

  • replied 11 years ago

What a find in the jacket, and love the bf ensemble!

  • christieanne replied 11 years ago

Stunning! Your mom is the ultimate seamstress but you put together a rockin simple look.
And I love your haircut Sveta!

  • Jaime replied 11 years ago

Love how the alterations perfected the fit, and love the outfit - smashing!

  • merwoman replied 11 years ago

Stunning! A beautiful illustration of the importance of fit - doesn't matter how much you paid for the garment, if it doesn't fit, it will never look right.

  • Inge replied 11 years ago

This is absolute perfect, Sveta, from head to toe. The tuxedo jacket is so elegant and chic, and the rest of your fab outfit is totally up my alley too: striped top, great fitting BF jeans and the much loved snakeskin booties. It's all fab!!-)

  • catherine replied 11 years ago

Sveta, you are such an inspiration. This outfit is perfect.

  • Tina.b replied 11 years ago

Sveta, you look just amazing! The alterations to the jacket are perfect and now it really accentuates your great shape. Such a fun pairing the tuxedo jacket and the BF jeans.

  • Transcona Shannon replied 11 years ago

Wow Sveta - the alterations on the jacket turned out fabulous (your Mom is a genius!). I think this looks so chic with the faded BF jeans and I love the roll showing your ankle. I might have to try the python booties like this - I love how them lengthen your leg line due to the low contrast colour.

  • Lisa replied 11 years ago

The blazer came out great, mom is so talented. I always adore the look of black with lighter wash denim, it's a lovely contrast.

  • Sarah A replied 11 years ago

Lovely as always! Your jacket alterations really show the power of excellent craftsmanship. I like the BF jeans with the shortish roll too :)

  • sarah replied 11 years ago

Your mom does it again! You look great, Sveta.

  • Mochi replied 11 years ago

What a beautiful jacket (in a large part because you're wearing it!). I usually like a cropped tuxedo jacket, but you pull off this length really well. Hope your suitcase makes room for it!

  • Kiwichik replied 11 years ago

You rock BF jeans. They look great with the tuxedo jacket.

  • nancylee replied 11 years ago

SO fab, Sveta! And now you've inspired me to try the look.

  • Missey replied 11 years ago

Amazing styling! You look beautiful, original, and slightly eclectic...as always! i admire your style and panache :) Love the BF jeans with the tux jacket, tres chic.

  • Carole replied 11 years ago

You ate making me want a BF so bad! Great style as always, Sveta and always an inspiration for me.

  • Sveta replied 11 years ago

Thank you so much for loving my BF jeans and my new tuxedo jacket together with me! Your lovely comments really made my day today (which was really very rotten at work) and K rating from Angie was just a cherry on top!
I am glad that faded denim was not a faux pas with the black jacket.
Kristin SF, for alterations we ripped out the sleeves from the shoulder seam to the back, my mom took in the shoulders and back along the sleeve seams and re-attached the sleeves. I don't think it is a very simple and cheap alteration but it is not overly complicated either. You can always take a jacket to a seamstress and get an estimate. I don't think the cost of this alteration makes sense unless the jacket is of a such quality that it is a small fraction of its price to make it perfect or if you are very hard to fit properly in jackets. I am really lucky to have my Wiz Mom!
Krish, I wore these BF jeans tucked into a tall boots to work because we had freezing rain and my booties are not the right footwear for these conditions. I have changed into booties at work and wore sheer knee high socks with them.
Christieanne, thanks for loving my haircut. I was afraid I went too short this time...
Mochi, I would love to have a cropped tuxedo jacket too but lately I have real trouble wearing my cropped jackets other than with dresses or tunics over skinnies. I think I need to find the perfect 'cropped' length to wear with regular length tops, I am afraid mine are all too short.

Sveta, I love your new tuxedo jacket and it will be a perfect piece in Portugal. It looks great styled this way and would be the way I'd wear one, too. Have a wonderful time and enjoy! You've got the wardrobe covered. :)
