WIW - after a break

I took a break from posting my WIW last week and thought I would skip this week as well - I just don't feel much inspired lately with my crazy work schedule. Honestly I am so tired for working overtime for over a month that it is hard to get excited over anything.
However I have changed my mind mid-week and here they are with some fancy names :-)
pic 1 - Stripes and Lace
This is as bomb-shelly as I can go while still feeling like myself. I wonder if this belt would be better in low contrast color...
pic 2 - Leggings and Oxfords
I hoped that my hair is enough to bookend my black leggings here...:-)
pic 3 - Almost White-out
This was my favorite of the week. I LOVE this white Melanie Lyne blazer, especially paired with these white Express trousers: almost a suit. Last time I paired them with a black tank for a bit of drama but this time I was drawn to less contrast and wore a silver lurex tank. I only wish the tank was a bit longer though. I don't get many compliments at work (male IT environment, you know) but this day I got quite a few. The most interesting was from one guy: "you look like you are ready to rock the stage today" :-)
pic 4 - Bold Pattern and Bright Bag
Trying to get more wear out of my summer dresses before summer is still here. This is my first piece with a bold and bright pattern and I quite like it. I also like how I can wear bright turquoise (which is not my best color) in a pattern with white and black and it suits me better than the solid color.
pic 5 - Buttoned up Boyfriend
This was another favorite from this week. First I wanted to wear an indigo blue silk tunic with these BF jeans, but something was off. Then I saw my Tahari white button down and thought its sharpness would contrast nicely with slouchy jeans. I also threw in my chunky pearls, white studded belt and nude wedges to keep it simple but interesting. I am surprising myself how I like to semi-tuck with BF jeans - something I never attempted before. I think I understood why today. First semi-tuck is more flattering for fuller hips with a low rise jeans - gentle curve instead of a sharp straight line. And second to keep the top tucked in with low rise it must be a tunic length: normal length tops just don't stay tucked for me. With a semi-tuck this problem is solved!
This was my week and thanks for looking. Have a great weekend!

I really like #3. All of them are nice, thou, and #5 has a cool casual vibe. And the semi-tuck really works for you.

  • replied 11 years ago

Wow, Sveta... well worth the wait. I really like 1 and 6!

  • Mona replied 11 years ago

Sveta, #3 and 5 are so fab. love the white out look and semi tuck with BF's works wonderfully. I was wondering the same thing. Thanks for mentioning that.

We all need a break from time to time Sveta. Your work schedule sounds crazy - I hope that gets under control for you sooner rather than later!

All of your outfits are fantastic (as usual) but #3 and #5 blow it out of the water for me. In #3 you look so incredibly chic. I love the tonal quality of the outfit - you look like you're heading off to some fantastic vacation in Cannes or Monaco.

And I love the button down shirt and pearls with the BF jeans. And how perfect with those nude sandals! Please post lots of BF outfits - I'm looking for tons of inspiration.

Nice to see you post again and please take care of yourself!

Another week saved on my inspiration folder! You never cease to amaze me.

  • deb replied 11 years ago

I love #3, You look great in all white.

  • Sveta replied 11 years ago

Girls, you are too kind! This is just the boost I need after another tough week! :-)
Shannon, I will. You know how doubtful I was about BF jeans and afraid they are too casual and sloppy for my style but I was sold the moment I put then on. There is something really cool in combining them with more tailored pieces and so much fun!

  • Echo replied 11 years ago

Fantastic outfits - I especially love #1 and #5. You look great, despite all the overtime!

  • KathyL replied 11 years ago

You look great in all these outfits, but I LOVE #3! I wasn't expecting to based on the description, white on white on silver sounded too much, but wow oh wow! You look so elegant and classy and rocking at the same time! Hope work gets better for you!

  • Diana replied 11 years ago

These are all so fab, Sveta. I always love your BF looks, and I am jealous of your popped collars - I can never get mine to stay.

  • Suz replied 11 years ago

Sveta, your work may be punishing you, but your outfits make you shine! #3 is SO glam!! Absolutely gorgeous. You really do look like a rock star! Love it with the shades. :-)

Your boyfriends are also your new BEST friend. They suit you down to the ground. I love the feminine touch of the necklace peeking out here with the otherwise masculine look.

I really love #1, too. I don't know if I have seen that top, or if I have, not worn in this way. It looks terrific. As for the bright dress with the denim jacket, that is also perfection. You certainly know how to play in your closet!!

  • sarah replied 11 years ago

I don't know how you can come up with outfits like these when you're feeling overworked and exhausted. Seriously. They are GREAT. You are making me think I should dye some of my shoes light tan...hmmm...

And where did you get that belt in the last pic? I've been searching all over for a belt like that.

  • Sveta replied 11 years ago

KathyL, I saw some outfit pictures of white out outfits and was really intrigued. I got the trousers first and was looking for a jacket to make a "suit" look. This jacket is great: even though it says dry clean I machine washed it on delicate, use cold air in the dryer for 10 min and hang it to dry. I did not even have to iron it. I love this jacket!
Suz, I posted the top form #1 once before here:http://youlookfab.com/welookfab/topic/wiw---including-another-bf-jeans-attempt
I bought this shirt in Suzy Shear from all places! I really liked the bold and graphic look which is simple in the same time.
Sarah, this belt is 6 years old and I got it in Winners. It is really cool and has metal studs and clear rhinestones on the off-white leather - and long enough for low slang BF jeans!

  • KathyL replied 11 years ago

What a great jacket ... the fit is great, its machine washable and no ironing! Great find! I just got a pair of white trousers, so this is a great inspiration!

  • MNsara replied 11 years ago

I'll have to come back later to take it all in, but I was blown away by #3 and then to read that it actually elicited comments from IT Men -- WOW that says it all :-)

  • Kate replied 11 years ago

You so bowled me over with #3 I almost didn't keep going. Glad I did, because I also love #5.

  • Beth Ann replied 11 years ago

Glorious posts! Way to keep yourself going through crunch time. All are fab -- 4 is a terrific print with a crisp white polish to top it off, The boyfriend jeans -- with pearls, no less are setting a high standard for the rest of us. The suit? You are so Miami Vice --- and I mean that as a distinct compliment. There is something so easy and glam about this -- so modern and retro simultaneously. Now, where's the fancy sports car? (Oh,and I have the same issues with short tops. This one isn't a problem for my eye due to it's low contrast).

    Rock On, Sveta!

  • Ornella replied 11 years ago

I was wondering what happened to you, I missed your posts. Every outfit is so different, yet so you, you are very creative.
I love #1. Very office-y, in a fun and modern way.

  • Teresa replied 11 years ago

Sveta, this week's wardrobe is so "effortlessly " chic. Picture #3 looks like a magazine photo shoot. This post is going into my favorites for later inspiration.

  • Deborah replied 11 years ago

Sveta sorry to near work is so busy. But you look amazing and have presented once again a wonderful set of outfits. #1 is TDF. I am besotted with that blouse and this combination is gorgeous.

The yellow and purple in 2 is lovely and fresh. 3 is stunning and I am not suprised at all you received compliments on it.

  • replied 11 years ago

Oh, man, all great looks, but #3 is making me hyperventilate! Secret Agent Sveta!!! Love the coolness!!!

  • replied 11 years ago

I am in love with number 1 and 3. You look incredible.

  • Preppy Pear replied 11 years ago

Amazing! I love, love your style! I just checked out your blog, too.

I also think we might be body shape twins - I think you are leaner than I am, but I think we have similar builds.

Come to think of it, I also have a very similar face and haircut :)

  • Nadya replied 11 years ago

You look great in all of them. I love love love #3! I'm a sucker for jeans and a white shirt, anyway, and this version is perfect! I hope your work schedule calms down soon.

  • lynn replied 11 years ago

Oh my gosh! I love all the looks but you look like somebody really important/famous in #3! If I saw you on the street I would probably stalk you to see where you lived since you must be "somebody"! And you are!!!

  • christy replied 11 years ago

Sorry to hear things have been so crazy, but you'd never know it to look at you here! #3 & #5 are absolutely showstoppers!! Seriously flat-out amazing. #1 is pretty amazing too, but all of these look great.

  • replied 11 years ago

Sveta, I am stunned and amazed by your style continually! Every one of these outfits is so amazing. I love the all white and BF looks, but you rock them all. I wish I knew how you do it. The black and white graphics are so good on you, just look what they do for your complexion. *fanning* I really can't think of anything intelligent to say. ;)

  • Angie replied 11 years ago

You always look fabulous, Sveta! And your small but fully functional wardrobe is very impressive. I hereby crown you Queen Capsule. You *totally* get the wadrobing concept.

#4 and #5 are the stars here. KILLER by about a billion percent.

(Pssst. I wore my husband jeans with a tucked in white shirt yesterday so we were twins:))

Hope that next week is less crazy!

  • Sona replied 11 years ago

loving them all and your BF look is brilliant. the semi tuck works fantastically!

  • JR replied 11 years ago

Now this is the perfect illustration of why it pays to know what works for you. Even when you're too stressed out to care, you still come up with fabulous looks. You remain a great inspiration to me.

  • catgirl replied 11 years ago

OMG, I love 5 but 3 has me drooling. Did you ever read that Ray Bradbury short story about the vanilla ice cream suit that three male friends agree to buy and share, and how it works magic for each of them? Totally reminds me of the magic in that story!

  • Sveta replied 11 years ago

Wow! So many lovely comments - thank you all! You do make my overstressed life a bit more bearable...
Una, I don't recall reading this story. I loved Ray B. as a teenager , I should look up this one.
Preppy Pear, I am excited to have a twin here on YLF: cannot wait to see you WIWs!
Angie, I never thought I have capsules in my wardrobe. I liked the concept but was to lazy to start analyzing it. Now I feel like the main character from Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme of Moliere who was not aware that he was talking in prose all his life...:-) <waving to my twin in BF jeans and a white shirt>!
Unfortunately next week is going to be crazier than this one and the next one even worse...ant it will continue this way well into October :-) At least I have my closet to cheer me up on these stressful days...
I will try to keep my WIW posts anyway. They keep me on my style toes and motivated to look my best. Just let me know when you are tired from them :-)
