WIW - a short week which feels like a very long one!

Last week was the longest ever. I was on business trip starting on Sunday and then supposed to have a nice 4-day weekend over Canadian Thanksgiving. I was working crazy hours while on site (the shortest day was 14h) and was really looking forward to that weekend. Well, it did not happen: due to emergency at work I was called in and had to work 3 days out of 4. Anyway, I just wanted to explain why I may look pale and drawn in these pictures. Oh and the worst thing about my business trip: I was in US and did not even have time to go shopping!!! (Canadians will understand my disappointment).
So back to my outfits this week - there are only 3 of them as Monday was a holiday which I worked from home and tomorrow is my day off :-)
pic 1
Do I look like ready to sail out here with sailor wide leg trousers and stripes? I was afraid this blouse is too roomy to be tucked in and not look like a sail but I think it did not look too bad. This was my neutral day:
- wide leg trousers - Long Tall Sally
- striped b / w blouse - Suzy Shier
- David Tate animal booties
- thrifted black wool blazer

pic 2
Angie wrote about chunky knits today but I wore it yesterday! This BR Martin skinny trousers shrank a bit after 2 washes so I wear them like I would leans now - with longer tunics:
- rasberry cowl tunic - Winners
- grey BR Martin skinnies
- BB mini-stripe shirt
- Naya burgundy booties

pic 3
After big and chunky yesterday I was drawn to ladylike and refined today. Looking at the pictures now I am not sure if black t-neck was the best choice when I already look so tired from a very long work week...
- black t-neck - Smart Set
- teal lace pencil skirt - my mom
- wire necklace - local boutique
- lacy black tights - Nordstrom
- black booties - Clarks
- red cape - coat - Charles Gray London (last year NAS)
sorry, last pictures are not he best - I came hope too late for outdoor pictures. It is so sad to think that I have to take all my outfit pictures indoors now for 6 months...:-(

Thank you for looking and as usual I appreciate any feedback and suggestions!

LOVE love the first two. You look fantastic!

  • Tina replied 11 years ago

You do such a good job of dressing your body, I really admire your style. You do not look tired in pic 3, you look regal:-)
I really hope work slows down for you very soon, your schedule sounds brutal! You may have to reward yourself with a shopping trip south of the border when things slow down. Just a thought...

  • DonnaF replied 11 years ago

These three look 300% fabulous; I can't tell how exhausted you must be and are blown away by how you can *carry* a big sweater. Such a shame that you had no chance to shop, esp. after all that work. How completely disappointing! I whine about the difficulty of finding petite clothing, but I really have little to complain about since I live in a U.S. urban area with a variety of stores and don't have to pay duty; my desires just exceed my money!

  • Echo replied 11 years ago

Wow, you look great. The second one is a fabulous casual outfit with a hint of attitude and you look AMAZING in the third. The red coat is the perfect accent to the dark outfit. LOVE this.

  • Debbie replied 11 years ago

Love all of these looks. Sorry you are having to work so much. You look great though!

  • Parsley replied 11 years ago

    Hi Sveta,
Sounds like a grueling work schedule. I hope you'll get to rest up this weekend.
In spite of being worn out, you look fab as can be in all three of these.

Oh my gosh, you're right about #2 being really similar to my WIW from today! Great minds think alike, eh? ;-)

I'm crazy for that red cape in outfit #3! You do bold, dramatic outfits better than anybody!

  • Kate replied 11 years ago

That's a wretched work schedule, Sveta, but you still manage to look like a million bucks. I envy your sartorial skills. All three looks are superb, but I especially admire the first two outfits.

  • Deborah replied 11 years ago

I am sorry work is so full on Sveta and its always disappointing when holidays or days off get cancelled:(. On the upside, your outfits look fab and you do not look tired at all. #3 is gorgeous, I love ladylike styles...you look beautiful, quite regal in a way.

Hi Sveta, I hope you get to relax this time on your day off!
The black blazer in pic1 is great- my eye was drawn to it straight away in a good way.
I also love the red coat on you, gives a lovely lift to the outfit.

  • Louise replied 11 years ago

Sorry you're so busy with work hopefully it will pass soon. You look amazing though I really love your chunky knit one I may have to copy this x

  • replied 11 years ago

Wow. You look amazing. I love all your looks and they are all very different.

  • Kiwichik replied 11 years ago

Love all 3 . That chunky knit is my favourite. I think the black looks great especially with the red coat. Hope you manage to get some Rn R after your tough week.

  • Vildy replied 11 years ago

oh wow look at you in that chunky knit. I can't believe how perfect that is. I never even think that the models pull it off but you, you're born to it.

  • replied 11 years ago

All three are great looks Sveta. I hope work calms down for you soon.

I especially like 2, the Martins look excellent with the booties.

  • krishnidoux replied 11 years ago

So chic in all of these! But my favourite has to be pic3. That skirt, I want it! Gorgeous.

  • Lisa replied 11 years ago

You look great, busy lady! I really like #2, because the layering here is interesting and fun. Especially that cowlneckline, I adore cowlnecklines. Get some rest!

  • cheryle (Dianthus) replied 11 years ago

Sveta, you look as fabulous as always even if you are tired and stressed.

I love the stripes and the wide legged trousers work beautifully on you. I have also been inspired by your second outfit. I have a similar sweater and almost donated it a few times. I am going to try to recreate your look 2 with it so thank you very much.

I think #3 has huge potential but the proportions seem just a touch off without the jacket. With the jacket, it is fab. I'm wondering if a less fitted top that adds a bit of volume would balance the longer skirt better.

  • texstyle replied 11 years ago

Sveta you look so amazing in all your outfits, it's always hard to choose a favorite. I think you look smashing in that skirt! I think #1 is great but I probably prefer #2 because of the attitude and it seems so YOU.

  • Queen Mum replied 11 years ago

I'm crazy about #2. LOVE it. You look great always, of course, but #2 is especially fab!

  • Jules replied 11 years ago

I love all these outfits but especially the shirt collar under the chunky knit! Makes me want to run out and shop!

  • Jilly replied 11 years ago

You look amazing! Not everyone an wear horizontal stripes as well as you do!

  • marianna replied 11 years ago

Hi Sveta! I LOVE all three of these outfits and you don't look stressed at all. Truly fab!

  • Suz replied 11 years ago

Sveta, you are a continual style inspiration! I am sorry work has been so brutal for you. And wow, I feel your pain about being in the US and being unable to shop! That is a separate level of hell.

However, you look spectacular. The first outfit looks comfortable, fun, fresh, and crisp all at once. Brilliant! Love those horizontal stripes in the top.

The second outfit is pure, glorious drama!

And the third is yet another spectacular illustration of why we deserve many coats in Canada.

    Brava, beautiful Sveta!

  • Angie replied 11 years ago

We might have to call you Queen Trousers, Sveta. How does THAT grab you! Never say never :)

    #1 is KILLER.

You are fably casual in #2!

And very ladylike and retro in #3!

    Love it all.

  • replied 11 years ago

Oh Sveta I'm so sorry about your horrible work week! How you managed to take any WIW photos at all, I'll never know. But you indeed look fabulous in your mysterious, model-like way. Your winter footwear is incredible. The striped blouse could *never* look like a sail. Your trousers (and grey pencil!) are tailored to perfection. Your diamond hose? *plonk* I run out of words. Seriously.

  • Carole replied 11 years ago

In spite of a hectic crazy work week, you look absolutely stunning in every outfit. I can't pick a favorite. You are such a style inspiration. Thanks for sharing.

  • rachylou replied 11 years ago

Sveta is Queen Trousers. I feel inspired!

  • Sveta replied 11 years ago

Thanks you all very much for your kind comments, they mean a lot to me.
Parsley, we did, didn't we? :-) and channeling Angie too!
I am really surprised that this over-sized chunky sweater works for me: I thought it would make me look huge! I guess the secret is to pair it with very slim trousers or jeans. I tried it with a pencil skirt but did not like it: I think it is too long for a skirt.
Vildy, that is a very strong compliment - I often feel so big and ...well, chunky compared to models in the catalog and feel that I cannot really wear what they wear as well. Thank you for boosting my confidence!
Dianthus, I cannot wait to see you sporting your chunky sweater!
Angie, I guess it was not as much looking bad in trousers as had a difficulty to find good fitting ones to the point that I almost gave up on them. I do like my trousers now and actually drawn to them more than to dresses and skirts even though latter are much easier for me to fit. Maybe it is a challenge that draws me to them?
Suz, I am going on a business trip again in the end of October and already plotting how I can get some shopping on my agenda. The problem is logistics: I fly out on Monday morning and go straight to the bank. No car as my hotel is just across the street from the bank. We work every day until 9 -10 PM so no shopping in the evening. Then I work in the bank on Friday until it is time to catch my flight in the afternoon. How can one squeeze any shopping into this schedule? I hope maybe I can order some stuff to the hotel but have never done it before and even don't know if it is possible. Also they can book hotel the very last minute so I may not have enough time for delivery... You know I feel like that proverbial fox with the grapes - so close but cannot reach...:-)

I don't know how you keep managing to look so fantastic given the hours you are working Sveta! You must be exhausted! I hope there is some relief for you mighty quick. Please take care of yourself as best you can, ok?

That white with black striped blouse in outift #1 never ceases to look fantastic. I think that might be my favourite blouse of yours. And I love the colour and proportion combination of outfit #2.

  • Beth Ann replied 11 years ago

You are tackling your stressful weeks in great style, Sveta. I love the European glamour of #3 and the modern take in #1. #2? That's what I want to wear right now, spending the evening on my couch, in front of my imaginary fireplace! (IRL it's work and Walmart shopping for me!)

  • CocoLion replied 11 years ago

I love the mixture of grey with burgundy in #2. So on trend. Actually I think all three of them are very skillfully assembled, the pattern mixing between stripe and animal footwear is brilliant. So fashionable while office appropriate. The skirt outfit in #3 brings back memories of Italy and how Italian women dressed in the winter.

  • Joy replied 11 years ago

I missed this thread before but wanted to comment on how wonderful each of these outfits is. You are so masterful at putting things together. I hope the office stress will let up soon.

  • cjh replied 11 years ago

Again, can't pick a fave. And I must keep looking - each outfit is a treat to the eye - keep up the good work at style under stress! Get some rest, hope your busy season ends as soon as possible.

  • moira replied 11 years ago

You look amazing in clothes. Really amazing. This being said, I would like you to pin that gray skirt up about two inches and see what you think. I think it would make a huge difference in the proportion. Give it a shot.
