WIW - a lot of slouch!

This was one of the most awful weeks at work for quite a while. According to Murphy's laws everything what could go wrong went wrong and even what could not go wrong was not right either. In addition (or maybe because) of the stress I had an splitting headache for 3 days. Not one of my best weeks at all and I am afraid it shows in my WIW :-(

I am still struggling to wear denim shirt even if I really like denim shirt outfits on my Pinterest board. That was another attempt to de-bombshell a pencil skirt, I think I failed miserably again. I wore big pearl necklace inside of he collar but because of my headache I had to take it off :-(

My attempt on rolled down BF jeans after Angie's post this week (pic 1). I still think they look better on me rolled up (pic 3) - what do you think?

Tried to dress up for Friday to face my release day - and it helped, everything came together on the last day despite the horrid week! I don't wear necklaces very often now but I felt I need one here because I did not wear a belt.

Black blazer - thrifted (I am struggling with this blazer, I think it looks too small on me and ridiculous - what do you think?)

We had friends over on Friday night so I left the trousers on but changed the top part.

I was not really very proud about my outfits this week but I post them anyway because this is the game I play with myself. Thanks for looking and have a great weekend!

I don't think #1 is a fail at all. I like the blue with the yellow and think the shirt did achieve the objective of de-bombshelling.

I prefer the rolled BFs in 3 over 2 but am not sure why.

I think #4 is fab. I particularly like the scrunched sleeves with the rolled shirt cuffs. You do neutral beautifully.

I would be thrilled to look this great any week, so I think you did a fantastic job given all the stressors. Your look in #4 is my favourite, just so classic but with a touch of edge. I too prefer the boyfriend jeans rolled. I love how you wear slouchy looks in a way that really showcases you gorgeous tall frame.

Sveta, I'm glad your horrible week is over! And you are SO hard on your outfits - naughty girl. You look AMAZING in all of them - all an 11 out of 10. No fails whatsoever.

    #1- gorgeous

#2 - I actually prefer the unrolled version!

#4 - bet you wowed them at your presentation!

#5 - KILLER Ms. Wears Trousers So Well :)

Sveta, congratulations on keeping it all together and looking great doing it. And then you entertained at the end of the week, you are superwoman!

I love the denim and yellow combo. Can you put your finger on why the denim shirt is bothering you? I just culled mine because I felt it was too heavyweight and stiff, and now I am having second thoughts because you look so good in yours. If I could find one with more drape, made of Tencel or something I think it might do the trick.

Love your BFs the long way. Lots of slouch certainly suits you. The orange and grey sweater is fantastic. I really like your thrifted blazer and the necklace, but I can understand having to take off jewelry. My statement necklace is not the most comfortable either. Love the change you made for "at home" last night. Here's hoping you have a restful and relaxing weekend!

You are far too hard on yourself -- you look great in all of these, and I hope you can relax this weekend!

Though maybe it's the lipstick making it look intentional :D , but I love the blazer look on you.
In the picture, fits kind of like a more tailored version of how a sweater would.

Sveta, I am sorry you had such an awful week. As for your looks, though - all fabulous.

#1: The denim shirt. Do you know what? I struggle with mine, too. And since mine is the same is yours, I have a theory about it. Do you know what I think it is? I think it is just a bit too stiff and bulky a fabric. And the shirt is not completely fitted but not completely boxy. And it is also a touch short of me (I went for petite...the regular was too big/ long). So all in all, it doesn't FEEL as good as it can look. Oh - another factor - I cannot do the top button up without choking as the collar is too tight for me then. And at the bottom, the ends seem to curl up a bit and look weird when I wear the shirt untucked.

I have decided that the problem is not "denim shirt" but this particular fabrication. I would love a softer one, maybe with a bit of tencel in it to make it drape a bit better. Or maybe I just want a dark chambray one instead to fill the same slot.

What do you think about that? Does any of this resonate?

    #2 - Love! Both versions.

#4 - This is terrific again. With the blazer, do the shoulders feel too small? If not I think it is a good shrunken fit and might work best in summer when you have sleeveless tops beneath it. Have you tried it like that?

#5 - STUNNING sweater on you. You look so festive and fresh. Perfect at home entertaining wear. And I swear your Winners is 10 times as good as mine.

You are such a source of inspiration for me Sveta - I have copied so many of your signature looks!
#5 blows me away - so fab!!! Just some random thoughts on the others... #4 is gorgeous , but maybe you are wanting things more loose these days - how would that amazing tuxedo blazer look with this outfit?
Denim shirt - I wasn't a fan of the BR shirt - too stiff and surprisingly short. I found a really nice one at AE that works quite well for me. Also GAP is another good source.

I think you look fab in them all. It sounds like Claire and Suz and others have some valid points re-denim shirt though. I do wish I had long legs like yours as you can sure wear slouchy jeans well, I'm quite jealous!
So glad you got through a bad week in one piece and I hope you enjoy the rest of you weekend.

Dianthus and Tina, I also cannot really understand why I prefer BF jeans rolled up. And Angie does not agree with this :-)
Angie, thanks for the moral support! :-) Actually it was not a presentation, we just had to get the product out to the customer that day so there was nobody to wow but my problems! :-)
Claire and Suz, it is really weird for me that I like so much denim shirts in my inspiration pictures but always feel it 'meh' on me. Suz, you may be right that this is this particular shirt. Actually I had my altered in the hips a bit - it flared weirdly there. I think maybe I need to commit a sacrilege and make this shirt into a fitted one? I think the boxiness may bother me with skirts because my hips are wide so I don't get the silhouette of wider top / narrow skirt as much. Also the fabric is not that drape-y...
I think I prefer boxier shirt of a longer length and this is not long enough for this IYKWIM. Actually I have ordered a lighter BR shirt in Tall. maybe I like it better...
On the other hand it may be all in my head...my head is quite prone for this!
Suz, the blazer fits perfectly in the shoulders but it is a snug fit. I think it is a combination of the snug fit, 3/4 sleeves and shorter length which make me wonder if I look like I overgrew it...
Ceit - thanks, I sure hope I can relax - it is a LONG weekend after all!
Vildy, I am glad this blazer is not as ridiculous on me as I thought :-)
Merwoman, I think my new tuxedo jacket will work well but I was trying to make my other jackets work: I have trouble doing this lately...

  • Angie replied 11 years ago

Then you wowed your problems big time, Sveta :)

I like the rolled version of the BFs too! Just to be clear :). I do have a slight preference for the unrolled version. More streamlined and minimal. But there is no right and wrong answer. It's just a personal styling preference.

  • Tanya replied 11 years ago

Love them all Sveta! You wear slouchy looks beautifully! I prefer the jeans unrolled.

  • Kristin SF replied 11 years ago

I'm sorry you had such a horrible week, but at least you looked FAB! I love ALL these outfits. Clothes hang so well on you. Ah to have your wonderful height... :-)

  • Carole replied 11 years ago

So sorry for your tough week, Sveta, but you looked amazing all week in spite of everything! I agree with Suz about the denim shirt, perhaps a lighter weight style would "feel" better. It looks great, but I feel the same way about my stiff denim shirt and much prefer my lighter weight one.

  • replied 11 years ago

You look fantastic in all, maybe your bad week was bluring your vision. Love #3.

  • Caro in Oz replied 11 years ago

I agree with the others. Hope you have a long relaxing weekend:)

  • Sveta replied 11 years ago

I hear you Angie! I really cannot explain why I prefer rolled up version, it just feels better to me.
Tanya, I really embraced slouchy trousers, too bad there is such a scarce selection of them in Canada.:-(
Kristin, it is a pain to find clothes long enough for this 'wonderful height' :-)
Carole, that denim shirt it is not stiff but it is definitely not a lightweight one.
    Caro and Tracina - thanks!

  • pil replied 11 years ago

Glad your terrible no good bad week is over - and I wish my good days looked half as nice as what you feel are your "off" days : )

  • Lyn D. replied 11 years ago

    Ditto with the above!
Prefer the rolled version, adds something extra to the outfit for me- but if I saw the unrolled pic only would rave about that too.

  • Transcona Shannon replied 11 years ago

This is a bad outfit week???? What the heck are you talking about Sveta? Every single one of these outfits is fabulous - seriously. And #5 makes me wanna swoon it's so gorgeous.

  • Jaime replied 11 years ago

Definitely think you are too hard on yourself - these are great looks! I especially love #4 but they are all fantastic. I like the denim shirt and yellow skirt!
