This Zara order made me cry...

I already lamented about my first Zara order yesterday when none of the four tops was a keeper.
Today I got my second order for which I hoped without hope for a miracle...but it did not happen.
I have been looking for a long (over the knee) wool winter coat for years without success. I was so happy when I spotted this coat at Zara which met all my criteria so I ordered it.
This coat is so beautiful it made dizzy when I pulled it out of the box. The wool fabric is soft and nice, the color is incredible shade of dark blue (not navy but more of indigo) and the length is great...but IT IS TOO SMALL! It is tight in the hips and cut to high under arms and in the shoulders. XL would fit me perfectly but this coat does not come in XL!
It is not often that items of clothing makes me cry...actually I don't remember a single case of it - but I am literally weeping now. This was my dream coat - in color, quality, length and style - and for a minute I believed my quest is over...but it was not meant to be.
Oh Zara! I am forgiving you that your trousers, skirts and dresses would never hit my curvy bottom. I am forgiving you that 80% of your tops do not come in my size. But I will never forgive you that you broke my heart and ruined my style life by not extending this coat model into size XL.
Now I am going to pour myself some cognac and mourn the death of a dream...

I am sobbing with you, sweet Sveta.

    *sobbing*

Sooooooo sorry that this absolutely killer coat is just a dash too small and you can't size up. It would have been too perfect for words.

Bad, bad Zara to make the fabulous Sveta cry! Have a cognac (or two), dry your eyes, and send them back their coat. Your perfect coat is still waiting patiently for you to find it.

  • donnat replied 10 years ago

    Awwh, i am so sorry...

  • catgirl replied 10 years ago

Oh, Sveta!  The thought of you crying, even tongue in cheek, over a coat makes me want to cry.  And it IS beautiful, but if it doesn't fit, then it's not THE coat.  Off to sob...

So sorry Sveta! What a gorgeous coat. Your coat is out there, I know it!

  • talific replied 10 years ago

I'm so sorry! That is terrible. Damn Zara and their small sizes! I hope that you find what you are looking for soon!

  • Mona replied 10 years ago

Hugs, Sveta. You will find THE ONE soon. I am sorry none of zara items are working for you.

  • Sara L. replied 10 years ago

I'm so sorry it didn't work for you.  I read your other post too and was hoping that the coat would work out.  :(

  • Diana replied 10 years ago

So sad! But I have faith you'll find the perfect coat yet!

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

Sveta, that is just too, too horrible. If only the Zara designers could see this. They would see that this style of coat is absolutely made for a woman with your presence and they would think: WHAT have we done? What fashion travesty have we committed? And they would immediately order up a bunch in XL.

Hmmm. Maybe a photo sent to head office?

It looks amazing. I am crying with you.

  • cobaltblue replied 10 years ago

Oh, Sveta, I am SO sorry.

  • deb replied 10 years ago

Add tear drops to that letter to Zara. I am sorry.

  • Nadya replied 10 years ago

Argh! So maddening - why on earth would Zara do that? But I know one day you'll have your revenge via another perfect coat!

  • Transcona Shannon replied 10 years ago

    Oh Sveta...how sad and frustrating!

  • Sarah A replied 10 years ago

Arrgghhhh! I am sad for you, the coat could be so amazing if only....

  • Mo replied 10 years ago

    Oh no.  That sucks :(

  • Adelfa replied 10 years ago

*hopping off the treadmill to run to the store to buy some cognac so I can have a snifter with Sveta*

  • merwoman replied 10 years ago

Oh Sveta - your expression says it all! This can only mean one thing - a more perfect coat is waiting for you. Shame on Zara!

  • Fruitful replied 10 years ago

So demoralising. It looks to be amazing on you if it were the right size. Maybe someone can send Zara a link to this discussion?

  • nancylee replied 10 years ago

Sveta, I am so disappointed for you.   :(

  • Peri replied 10 years ago

Bad bad people! I'm sorry! They should do better.

  • Mochi replied 10 years ago

Oh, so sorry, Sveta. Huge hugs of solace to you. I'm really mad at Zara for this. Would it kill them to readjust their ideas of sizing, if they're going to sell in other markets that have more diversity of body types? You are by no means an unusual size, anyway. Anyway, I wonder if you could use a picture of this coat as a prototype for getting something custom-made?

  • Kim replied 10 years ago

All I can think of is that Zara does a lot of knock offs and fast fashion, so they probably copied this coat from somewhere else, right? That means that your perfect coat is still out there somewhere, cause  Zara was silly enough to size it too small for beautiful you! Their loss, your money will be spent on something more perfect!

  • Lyn D. replied 10 years ago

Dry your eyes, keep looking and THE ONE will turn-up :)

  • Sveta replied 10 years ago

Oh ladies, you are such s solace! Thank you for holding my hand and sharing my grief, it helps a lot.
I just went back to Zara's site and checked that thy do have quite a lot of coats in size XL and even some in size XXL BUT none of the long coats in this strict and masculine style are coming in a size larger than L.
So...I will continue to look at Zara's for a potential coat but would not bother unless it is in size XL.

  • Jaime replied 10 years ago

Seriously Zara are you crazy? I am so sorry Sveta - but your coat will come.

  • celia replied 10 years ago

Oh no, it is so heartbreaking when this happens.
    Bad Zara, bad Zara!

  • Debbie replied 10 years ago

I'm so sorry. It is maddening when this happens.

  • goldenpig replied 10 years ago

Aw man, I'm so sorry Sveta! Your perfect coat is out there, hope you find it soon!

  • ManidipaM replied 10 years ago

Grrr.... and ironically, look at the length! Won't work too well for a smaller woman, will it? She who sits right in the armholes will be swamped at the hem.

  • jayne replied 10 years ago

i so feel your pain!  I have a local Zara and I don't even bother trying slacks there anymore because they are so ridiculously small...but once in awhile a jacket in XL fits me too.  But for the most part I have given them up.  I try to tell myself that it is not me, it is the southern Europe sizing, not made for a part German descendant like me.

  • rae replied 10 years ago

Oh! I am bawling with you, Sveta. I just had the same experience with a customer and a Bailey 44 moto... I had no idea that it was not completely commonplace to run sizes XS - XL. Really, how is it logical for anyone to expect the majority of customers to fit only 3-4 sizes? 5 is low as it is!

  • Runcarla replied 10 years ago

So sad...(reaching for the box of Kleenex)...

  • Debora replied 10 years ago

Oh no! I hope this means that something even better is down the road for you, dear Sveta.

  • Lisa replied 10 years ago

Oh no!  So sorry to hear the coat did not work out.  But now you know the color and style to look for.  Fingers crossed for successful shopping when you search again!

  • Joy replied 10 years ago

This is painful. I'm sorry and hope you find your perfect coat.

  • Von replied 10 years ago

I'm sad for you too, but luckily, those styles of coats are usually stocked in some department stores.  I purchased one last winter that could be the twin of yours.  I too need an XL coat, and it's hard to find one with the perfect shaping and fit over hips & slims, but buttons up top.  I kept looking well beyond my *give up* period, and found mine on sale.  Keep looking, don't settle, your coat is out there, just maybe not at Zara.

  • In My Joi replied 10 years ago

I'm sorry Sveta! That is very frustrating!

  • JAileen replied 10 years ago

I feel for you. I have the same probem with shoes. It's very frustrating.

  • replied 10 years ago

Oh, that is so sad. It is a beautiful, perfect coat. I love the color. Like Suz, I would take this to the top! Maybe there is a market somewhere where they sell it in XL (although if they did, it would be North America for sure, right?!). Grrrrr.

  • Ingunn replied 10 years ago

Sveta, I'm so sorry! I always have to size up at least one size in Zara, and I don't understand how anything in their xs can sell in Norway at all, there are few and far between in that size here. The coat had great potential, but not enough. Too bad! You will find the dream coat one day.

  • Ingunn replied 10 years ago

Maybe the brand I have in my red coat is better suited for you? It is called Ril's and is Finnish. I'd be delighted to help you find out more. Let me know.

  • rachylou replied 10 years ago

Oh no. It *is* so beautiful on you. Foofy head.
