The battle of puffer coats

Yes, it is still too hot here to wear a puffer but I stumbled upon very nice packable puffers at Costco last weekend and could not pass.
I have a long and very warm LE dark purple puffer   which is great for heavy cold. However there are days when it is too warm for it but not warm  enough for wool coat - usually with wind and dampness which cuts right through the wool. So I was looking for a lighter and shorter  puffer for a while and this was a lucky find.
The brand is Andrew Marc and the price is $60 which I think is great for a light down puffer. The length is good for me and even the sleeves are passably long. The problem I have - which color?
I tried on the navy and liked it. Then I tried on the warm taupe (not sure if this is a correct name for this color) and liked it too. I could not decided and my hubby said - why don't you get both at this price?
So I ended up with 2 at home. I am not sure I want to keep both so I am calling for YLF wisdom to help me decide on the color: navy or taupe?
This is my current coat collection to give you an idea about the colors.

Also I took the pictures with my NAS buy - Top Sperry duck booties from Angie's finds. Love them! I was not sure if cream color is going to be useful for winter but I like them even with dark jeans - and they work great with white and faded blue jeans which I also wear all winter long. I am so happy I went for cream and not for black! ;-)

Thanks in advance!

I can see how the taupe would be nice in your wardrobe, but I really love the blue color more on you.

    Cute shoes too!

  • Louise replied 8 years ago

I think the taupe looks great with the duck booties x

Warm Taupe, hands down. I love that puffer with the new Duck Boots.

  • Laura (rhubarbgirl) replied 8 years ago

    I like the taupe too.

  • kellygirl replied 8 years ago

This is tough. I like the taupe with the boots slightly more than the navy. That being said, the navy is gorgeous on you and still looks good with the boots.

What a great fit! They both look great on you and seeing your capsule I'd vote for the taupe.

    Puf-fy-fy! Puf-fy! :D

The taupe... But I have to admit I had a navy like the first one and that was the most versatile coat ever...

Sveta, I'm with your hubby. Keep them both!!

In all seriousness, in our winter, you will get many opportunities for wearing.

I think both look good on  you. I like the taupe with the booties, but I think the blue may be slightly more flattering to you. However, don't forget you might have scarf, hat, etc. which can increase the flattery factor. And a light colour coat can be a real boon in the dark days.

So that is my not very helpful opinion!

I like the blue better on you!
    Great price for a puffer!

I like the blue--agree with Suz and Smittie, I find it slightly more flattering, though that could just be the photo exposure. It also seems like the taupe is showing wrinkles more--but again that could be the pic. I do like the taupe with the boots, but think the blue works too. I'd decide based on which works best with your wardrobe.

And thanks for the PSA: we have to do a Costco run this weekend so I'll be looking out for these! And, Eek! Can't believe we are talking puffers already;)

If only everyone looked that great in a puffer..... Both are very flattering on you, with great shape and length. They look like they cost way more than $60. I'm with hubs....get both!

  • Elle replied 8 years ago

Love the blue on you but the taupe works better with the boots.  So I'm no help.

  • replied 8 years ago

For bookending, you could get a light scarf or hat to match the boots.
Btw, I love the colour of your boots. So much better than black, I agree. Usually, it's the white salt you see on boots, so my guess is that these will hide dirt better than black.

  • replied 8 years ago

I agree with Suz:  navy is the more flattering of the two, but the taupe works well with the boots.  I'd do navy, if it were me. You can add in a cream scarf and hat to brighten the look up and tie in the boots. I need to get to Costco one of these days soon.....$60??  I'm in!

Love you in the navy!  The taupe, not so much.  Great boots!

  • Leighways replied 8 years ago

    I'd keep both.

Taupe is in now and looks great with what you have on.

Navy is a staple colour and can bw worn in years to come, plus it's flattering (MEGA BONUS)

  • jackiec replied 8 years ago

I like them both but think the navy is a wee bit more flattering. And I am making a mental note to check out Costco next week. I need a puffer in a non-black colour and one of those just might be the ticket.

PS love the duck boots on you :)

  • Echo replied 8 years ago

I very much prefer the navy on you, and I love the boots, too. But I don't think you need the matchy-matchy of the boots with the taupe because they are neutral and will go with anything.

  • cheryle (Dianthus) replied 8 years ago

Both are very nice but I think the navy is more flattering with your coloring.  Great deal for a puffer Sveta.

  • Thistle replied 8 years ago

    I much prefer the navy.

  • Runcarla replied 8 years ago

What other folks have said - the navy is easy and so very flattering, however the taupe is a dead match for the duck boots, and attractive as well! Just as a light scarf has been suggested for the neavy puffer, you can do a scarf with the taupe as well. At that price, and with our winters, I'd keep both.

  • Windchime replied 8 years ago

What Kelly and others have said. The taupe is incredible with your NAS boots, AND the navy is gorgeous on you. No wonder you're having a hard time choosing! At the price, you could get both and enjoy the variety during the long winter.

  • Isabel replied 8 years ago

Hi Sveta, for what it's worth, I LOVE the blue color on you.  But I do think that if you are looking for something with the boots, the lighter color wins.   Windchime may have the answer though.  : )

  • Glory replied 8 years ago

I am with dh and would keep them both. The packable down jackets don't last that long and winter is so long here in Ontario it is nice to have variety. Apologies for being an enabler...

  • Brooklyn replied 8 years ago

I marginally prefer the blue on you but, as others have said, the taupe goes better with the booties. Looking at your current coat collection, you already have quite a bit of blue. So, on that basis, I vote taupe.

  • Liz A. replied 8 years ago

you've gotten a lot of input, but here's a question no one has asked yet... what color pants are you likely to be wearing with the coat?  i ask, because i just can't stand to wear a similar shade of pants and coat and feel off all day when i do.  food for thought.

  • catgirl replied 8 years ago

I am not looking at other comments - I am 100% for the blue. More flattering , more practical.

  • Bijou replied 8 years ago

I vote keep both or if keeping only one, then keep the taupe. The taupe gives your wardrobe more variety than the navy coat does (as your purple puffer is not too dissimilar in colour) and looks amazing with your new boots.

  • Vildy replied 8 years ago

They're practical, not much money, fit you well, two great neutrals, both look great on you.
Just going by the photos, the blue is coming up with a wonderful
sapphire undertone to me.  It's the same dark blue "everyone" is wearing, except not.
