Red / orange / pink: what I might wear

As usual Angie's Friday ensemble was a delight and I wanted to try it out badly. Alas - I was on a business trip with a very limited wardrobe which did not contain any of these colors! :-(
Well, I returned home today and guess how I spent my afternoon? Recreating Angie's ensemble of course! Too bad it was just for fun as suddenly our weather turned to summer and it is too hot to sport booties and scarf now. So aside from my cats you are the only ones who got to see it :-)
This neon orchid pink linen sweater came to mind right away when I was thinking about this outfit. Easy: this is the only bright (ish) pink item I own. Red Munro booties was another no-brainer: this is my only dark red item aside from one dress. First I paired them with dark wash BF jeans and animal print belt for the orange and liked it. However then I saw these grey linen pants and thought that I may like this color better than navy with this look but I was not happy about the animal print belt with this grey. Then I remembered that I have a silk scarf with some orange in it...voila!

I definitely may wear it in September if weather cools down...what do you think?

It figures, doesn't it? The last days of summer -- and suddenly it is hot!! Oy.

Also....I notice that your 'neon amethyst" sweater is a lot less neon than it used to be. Mine, too. They really fade, even in cold water...with no dryer!!

Okay, what I love most about this outfit is that I could reproduce it almost item for item.

    Cranberry booties? Check.
    Grey linen pants? Check.
    Pink linen sweater? Check?
Scarf with orange (and bright red)? Check, thanks to Ms. Mary as my Secret Santa, first year on YLF.

Seriously, it's a great look, and I hope to copy soon!

But right now I have to duck away from the thunderstorm about to hit our house!

Oh Suz, I think I did not pay attention to it but you are right - it did fade. And it is just after 1 wash and no dryer! :-( Oh well, the color is still nice but definitely not neon anymore...

  • Suz replied 9 years ago

    Yep. Mine, too.

Mine has had a few washes, now. I don't think it got appreciably lighter after the first one. Also cold water, no dryer.

I feel like I should have maybe ordered a back-up version. Makrame or somebody else did just that!

I like your rendition, Sveta. I really like that scarf with the sweater. I'm kind of wanting to see a belt with your semi-tuck (but I have a thing about filling visible belt loops). I like Suz's silver one in her second photo! Maybe you could snatch it when she isn't looking. Ha ha!
It also occurred to me, when you said you have a dark red dress. . . . would your scarf here go with that dress? And your red booties? For another variation on the theme! It's fun to put together these ensembles, isn't it?

I really like this, Sveta. I couldn't imagine all those bright colours together, but your outfit has done it in a really pretty, understated way. That scarf just brings the whole thing together. Really clever choices!

Love your interpretation of this look Sveta :)

  • Angie replied 9 years ago

Great interpretation. Will look great with jeans too. xo

    Thank you ladies!
Firecracker, I would definitely wear a belt if I was wearing this "for real": I guess I was too lazy to get one for the picture :-) As for the red dress - scarf may work with it but I am not sure for the booties: too close in color but not matching...will see!
Angie, it did look good with the jeans too but somehow I was in the mood for a softness of the grey...

The sweater may have faded but the outfit looks fantastic - definitely wear!

You nailed it. Putting this color combo together feels like a master class in styling. I've been trying and failing and am so impressed with your outfit.

A fun look that pairs red orange and pink.  Clever little scarf here.

Beautiful colors and interpretations, Sveta. And for what it's worth, I like the faded pink equally much as the neon version.

  • Mona replied 9 years ago

I agree with Ingunn. The faded sweater does look equally great as when it was neon. Lovely rendition of Angie's ensemble.
