I obviously can't speak to what any of these items are like IRL but just had to say your choices are beautiful Sveta.
(and I REALLY wish you hadn't shown that Mural bomber...looooooooooove it)

Looking forward to seeing your picks when they arrive!
When I read your question about jackets, "is there anything interesting you can see working for me?" my mind went to the Trouve in purple that you asked about. I tried it on. It's a nice fabric, sharp design, a lovely muted purple shade (a shade that makes you realize purple can be a neutral!). It was not really my style (more classic and tailored than I usually wear in my current life), and it was a little big in the bust. I felt it would be a great fit for an hourglass shape.
I also tried the Halogen blue boucle jacket with faux-leather trim. Super cute, but it wouldn't get enough wear from me. I was trying to go with a few very well thought-out choices this year. It definitely feels like a sweater posing as a jacket, which was a plus in my book because I love sweaters. It's a lightweight knit. The one thing that might give you pause is the faux leather is very lightweight as well and not very close to real looking. It's still cute, in my book, because I wouldn't be trying to pass it off as leather. The faux leather on the Trouve jacket, btw, is also not real looking, but it's matte and gives a subtler appearance, as it blends in with the jacket fabric a lot more.
I tried on the Halogen pencil skirt and loved the heft of the fabric and oh-so-flattering seaming. I was trying to take mental notes, to try to copy that seam design in my sewing. I think the skirt was longer than in past seasons, perhaps. I am 5'5" or so, and the regular size hit just below my kneecap.

About the Tahari jacket: I haven't seen it in person or tried it on, but I've had many Tahari jackets in the past. I am 5'8 1/2" and have a long torso and Iove the Tahari fit--or at least I did until I gained a bit of weight around the middle. They are for the long-waisted among us. I love this one--I just wish it came in a color.
Hope this helps a bit.

Let's see... the Halogen skirts are definitely a bit different than last year's. Had them on a curvy hourglass/pear and she loved them a lot.
The purple Trouve jacket is nice, but I think it looks best on a small busted figure. Unless you really want to size up and have a loose fit. Of the ladies I had try it on, if they liked the fit in the shoulders and waist, the bust wouldn't lay nicely.
I forget what black jacket options you have, but the Classiques mixed media with leather panels in front is really, really nice on (sorry I can't link, I am not allowed to see the sale until the 19th). I know you said no leather, but this is only part leather, lol. There was also a really pretty long jacquard jacket by Eileen Fisher, and a long golden-toned riding jacket by... Lafayette?

Love your choices, Sveta. The b/w dress and the Halogen midis, particularly. Can't wait to see them on you!

Shannon, I really envied your white and black bomber so let's say we are even now!:-)
Firecracker, that's a great feedback! I am glad Trouve jacket is nice IRL, I really like the look of it and I don't have any colored winter jackets now.
MsMaven, thanks for the info on Tahari. I have one dress which I like but I was not sure how the jackets fit. Looks like there is a hope for me!
Rae, this is really encouraging about the Halogen skirt, I will order them for sure: I really want a colorful skirt. My yellow skirt gets much more wear than my grey one. As for the Trouve jacket - looks I may be in luck: my size on top comes from my shoulders rather than from my bust so it may work really well.
You temptress about CE mixed media jacket...now I HAVE to look at it! Currently I have a longer black tux and a short black wool jacket (which does not get much wear I am afraid).

I'm loving your picks, Sveta. I can't say much about different colour choices, because for most items I can only see the colour you are linking too. Loving the sound of adding extra colour to your wardrobe, and your favourite colours are definitely faves of mine too:-)
- The first pencil skirts are fun (and they look so comfy), and the midi patterned skirts are fab! I especially love it in blue.
- All 3 dresses would be beautiful on you. Love the vibrant colour of the Tahari, and adore the colour-block on the second one (I can only see the B&W version, curious about the purple).
- To my eye the striped blouse is different enough from the one you have to warrant to get it. But you know me, Miss Stripes all the way:-) You may remember that I have a similar striped blouse as you, and I am absolutely planning on getting this one too. The drapey style feels different enough to me;-) Perhaps we can be twins?
- That ET blazer is stunning, Sveta, wow, absolutely stunning!
- I have my eye on the Mural bomber too, the colour combo and mixed media effect make it ladylike and a little sporty, very fun.
- The navy/black bomber is also fun.
As an extra jacket option: what do you think about the Classiques Entier Houndstooth Knit Jacket on p. 31 of the catalogue? It's a little Chanel-esque and the black knit insets add a modern vibe.
So excited for you! Keep us posted?

These look like great picks, Sveta! Those Halogen print midi skirts are the only thing that caught my eye from the NAS this year. Can't wait to hear your report on them.

Inge, I had an inkling we may love the same things :-) I bypassed that CE jacket because of he collarless style but maybe it will work for me? I wish Angie chimes in, I am sure she has seen it in person...for now it went into my Wish list :-)
Here is the picture of Halogen dress in purple: the white / black version is more dramatic but I already have a shite/black dress and this shade of purple should be very flattering on me...

I have not ventured into the store, but my cart is overflowing (each post I add more and yours added the last bomber and the Halogen midi in camel and grey- my favorite combo) I think you've chosen some lovely items and it's always a test if they will work for you. I'll be standing by for your reviews they are always so helpful.
Oh and I think you should go for the red/black striped blouse. I don't think it's too similar to your current striped one, but I like the red best.

I have the ET blazer!!! I LOVE IT, and have ordred the skirt to match. (I am in a ladylike suit mood at the moment :)). It's VERY tailored - I'm warning you, Sveta. Nothing fluid about it. And it may run a little small - which is odd because ET often runs a little big. And the sleeves are long enough for my gorilla arms!
Definately get the striped blouse. We will be twins - and you will LOVE it.
Pass on the Halogen zip cardi - odd shoulder fit.
Mural bomber is KILLER. I have it too! It's short though, Sveta. Is that okay? Does not run small. It's TTS.

Y'all, I said I was sitting out NAS, but I confess I ordered the ET blazer a few days ago! Could I possibly be style triplets with Sveta and Angie? I think I've died and landed in fashion heaven.

I have no input because I haven't seen anything yet this year -- but it sounds like you are right on target, especially because you've independently chosen items that Angie herself has purchased! You have *really* good taste! :)
Which shoes did you order?

I went in for the Halogen skirts, but didn't get either because they didn't have the green in my size and I have a dark blue brocade skirt and thought twice about another (even if it's different). I'm also considering the stripey cross-over blouse - I think it's a lot different from the one you have.

I love your selections. I saw the CK dress and it was love at first sight but, alas, it is too short (above my knees at 5'3"). It is 38 inches in size 8, but seemed shorter in a 4.

Sveta replied 10 years ago
Jjsloane, I hope this bomber and skirt work for you.
Angie, thanks for the recommendations!
Ali, only if this jacket fits me...
Marianna, I will PM you with my shoe list :-)
Rachy, you can order the green in your size, right?
Joy, dress length is a real bother, isn't it? I hope they are longer in my size - I need at least 40" for it to be on the knee or just above...

I was eyeballing that Halogen zip cardigan, so I'm glad to here some feedback on it from Angie regarding the fit. Thanks for asking Sveta!

You have a great eye for design and wearability, Sveta, and I love your picks here and hope most come home with you. How great is that hearing you'll be twins with Angie in a few categories.
You will look spectacular in the striped blouse (wish I could wear something like that), the bomber and the ET blazer. Post when you can, please.
