My last round of the haul but not from NAS...

In addition to NAS order I also placed an order to Brooks Brothers taking advantage of the sale and using opportunity to pick it up on the border. I planned to go to the BB store in the mall, try them on and return what does not work. Well it did not work out this way: when Suz and I were done with NAS fitting room and went to look for BB store we found out that it closes at 7PM and it was already past that :-(
So I had to take everything back with me to London and try on next day. Two short sleeve sweaters were a bust: they were too short and also they had an old fashion vibe. I will return them next time I am in US (Good BB has 90 day return policy!)
The third SS sweater (pic 1) has potential I think. It is too short for pants but should work with skirts and also with faux-tuck with some pants I think. It has the wider band on the bottom which makes it more modern that the other two. It also has an interesting silver semi-sheer stripe which adds the textural effect.
It will replace an old purple tank which is too short for me.

Pic 2-3 Tailored white non-iron shirt. I own a single BB shirt and I love the fabrication but it is a bit snug in size 10 - and also short because the style is fitted (the shortest of them all). This shirt happened to be a single one in stock and only in size 12 so I decided to get it. I love the black piping on the front. It does not feel snug and I think the length is passable (but maybe I am kidding myself?) This shirt will replace my size 10 shirt which I am giving to my sister.

Pic 3-4 Tailored purple stripe non-iron shirt. This is one size up - size 14. I decided to try a different size to see how the fit is. Suz told me that she would never forgive me if I don't keep it so I obeyed... I don't see big difference in the shoulder fit but it has more ease through the body and a tiny bit longer. It will replace Anthro tencel denim shirt which has uncomfortable sleeves.

I am keeping them anyway and took the tags already but would love to know what you think.

Love the shirts! They are easy in fit but tapered in the waist a bit and that makes them look really good. The striped sweater I might prefer sized up  or worn with just a little less skirt volume. Think the style and stripes are quite nice and fresh-looking.

I think these all are great! Too bad on the ones that didn't work, but at least you can return them!

  • DonnaF replied 10 years ago

These all look great to me!  I can't tell the difference in the sizes.  My only concern is that if you go to a warmer color with your hair, the lavender color may look off.

  • ManidipaM replied 10 years ago

Sveta, they are beautiful pieces! And I can't imagine what could be better than beautiful basics with that extra special something---which all three of these have, in spades.

Suz is right. You look so fantastic in the violet shirt it should be outlawed.

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

So, I have to weigh in and tell you that the photo does NOT DO JUSTICE to the beauty of that purple striped shirt on Sveta. Really, truly -- purple, in all its permutations, is her colour and IRL this shirt makes her complexion glow. It's subtle but spectacular. And the crisp detailing is so perfect for her style.

I adore the white shirt with the black tipping, too. And I am so glad you decided to keep the metallic striped sweater.

We were of two minds about the cashmere blend short sleeves, but on balance, Sveta, I think you have made the right decision. Gorgeous fabric, and they would have been super layering pieces, but they were too old fashioned looking to be worn in any other way. So that was the deciding factor, and I concur 100% with your judgement.

Dear reader, please note: it took some time to reach this conclusion. On the first try on, we both said, "maybe the lavender one, but not the ivory." On the second try on, (in the morning) we both thought, "Maybe both!!" (To keep, I mean). And then Sveta has weighed her mind over them this week and realized what was what. So this timing and thought process is very important to making the best decision.

I love #1. the tonal stripes are divine with your dotty skirt - Genius! I also love a BB shirt and adore the contrasting stripe down the front on #2. I see what you mean about the sizing in #3. However, I like both fits for different reasons. Suz was right.

The shirts are great, and I love the sweater. You had quite the successful shopping trip. Would that we all could take turns shopping with you and Suz!

  • nancylee replied 10 years ago

I think these totally work, Sveta.  And it's great that you're using them as replacements (one in/one out!) for pieces that are no longer working.  I'm in replacement mode this summer, too.  :)

My fav of these three is the white shirt with black piping, but it sounds like all three will be valuable additions to your closet.

Love these shirts, Sveta.  All are amazing on you.  The black detailing on white is stunning and elegant, yet it could be fab with jeans.  The purple is gorgeous.  Brooks Brothers shirts are a favorite in our house, due to what my DH considers remarkable resistance to wrinkling, a variable he has researched in depth.

  • Lisa replied 10 years ago

Great additions here.  That striped shirt looks fun with the sheer panels to it.  And it does look like a good length with a skirt.  The piping shirt, is lovely too, subtle but just enough twist with the piping to make it fun.  The purple shirt, I do like the fit on this one better than the white one for some reason.  Maybe because of the color?  You did great freshening up your wardrobe with NAS.  What is your plan now, ie are you done shopping for a while?

  • deb replied 10 years ago

Sveta, are the shirts the fitted style or the tailored style? I need to replace mine and I went into the store here and they did not have all three styles for me to compare. I will probably order all three and take some back.

  • lyn* replied 10 years ago

These shirts look amazing - almost as amazing as that dotty skirt! :)

  • Sveta replied 10 years ago

unfrumped, I think this striped sweater looks better IRL with flared skirts
DonnaF, purple is my best color does not matter what color is my hair is, so there is no danger here :-)
Suz, it took one more session in front of the mirror trying these cashmere blend sweaters with my skirts to realize that they will not work for me.
Ceit, Mani, Day Vies, Cobaltblue, - thanks.
Nancy, that white shirt started the whole BB ordering thing :-)
Eliza, BB shirt quality is superb, isn't it?
Lisa, I am trying hard to be done with shopping...for now. :-)
deb, these are Tailored fit. I went for them because they are longer.

Sveta, everything looks amazing on you!  you and Suz are masters at shopping decision making.  I want to shop with you both

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 10 years ago

Oh, Sveta, you look amazing in all of these. #1 is just to die for. The sweater with that skirt and shoes is very lovely on you; tomboy ladylike. The shirts are gorgeous classics with pizzazz. Good choices!

  • Mona replied 10 years ago

I am just drooling over these shirts. You look absolutely gorgeous in all of them. Being a pear shape, don't you find button ups ride up on you when fully tucked?

  • Karie replied 10 years ago

Let's see...I love shirt #1 (but honestly my judgement can't be trusted on this one because I am spellbound by that gorgeous polka dot skirt!)

...I love shirt #2, the black piping is gorgeous (and your sister is one lucky duck).

...I love, love, love, the purple stripe shirt in pic #4 - once again, gorgeous (have I used that word before?). Our Suz knows her stuff, good thing you listened to her and did as you were told!

  • rachylou replied 10 years ago

The shirts fit beautifully. The sweater looks useful. I've got a metallic striped sweater and it's a great thing to have on hand.

  • Angie replied 10 years ago

Fabulous, and I am especially loving the first striped pullover, Sveta. You have an especially gorgeous shoulder line in that top (in #1).

  • CocoLion replied 10 years ago

All three look good and useful.  The first top is fashion-forward yet classic.  It looks like an upscale tee shirt, so perfect for work.

It's interesting how both sizes of blouses fit you well.  The first is a bit shorter, true, but I like this length as it does not cover the crotch which allows you to see the full length of your long legs.  I would love to be able to find tops this length, most tops are like tunics on short me!

  • Sveta replied 10 years ago

Thanks for the comments, sorry I could not reply earlier - busy Saturday...:-(
Mona, I don't think it is hips which make buttondown shirt to rid up but rather arm movement. Sometimes I tuck them into tights to keep them in place. Anyway semi-tuck to the rescue!
Denise, I have marveled at this fact myself - and size 10 fits me as well but on the snug side. :-) I have an opposite wish from you: to fins shirts long enough to cover the crotch...I guess grass is always greener...:-)
Angie, thanks! This striped sweater is not snug but it is rather fitted and not  an oversized fit. I guess I should have ordered XL...oh well, too late now!
