Le Chateau banded silk tops -thank you, missvee!!!!

Some of you may remember that I was considering some silk tops from Le Chateau in this post. After getting a great advice from the forum and especially a report from the trenches from missvee I decide to pop into my local store to try them on instead of ordering.
I tried on this silky tee. It had a nice drape and might have worked if not for two problems - too sheer front silk panel and too wide neckline. Pass!
After I saw this top on the hanger I had to completely agree with missvee assessment: too flimsy silk and way too deep neckline. I did not even want to try it on - definitely pass!
Unfortunately the banded tops I really was after were not in the store. However based on missvee  report I decided to risk it and order them. It was last Tuesday...
...and they arrived today! Remember Angie's outfit post  this week when she said she cannot make peace with sweatshirt and that cotton sweater is her version of a sweatshirt? I think these banded tops are MY version of sweatshirt now!
Here are the pictures. I got one in indigo and one in alabaster and I really love them. They are short enough to wear with skirts - something I wanted to sport for quite a time - and I also think they work with trousers and BF jeans with faux tuck - like Angie's version.
They are lightweight but not see through - as you see no cami is needed, even with the white one if I wear a nude bra. Fabric is nice and substantial and they drape well. I think they are keepers! I even think that maybe I should go for a coral one too?:-)
I went with XL. L may have worked in the body as well but I am afraid it might have been a bit tight in the sleeves - and I like silk a bit oversized.

All in all I am pleased and going to wear one tomorrow (if I get to ironing it tonight). My hubby likes white better than blue - but I like them both and think that blue shade works for me - what do you think?

I like them both, too, Sveta.  Such a flattering style on you! Can't wait to see them in the many outfit variations you will create :)

They are both perfect. I like both colors equally as well.

I like them both and would keep both. They can be dressed up or down and I see them being a great wardrobe addition for you

    LOVE the blue especially!

Thanks for sharing my love, ladies! I am a happy camper today :-)

Love them on you, especially the blue!! Are they silk knit, then? That can be lovely to wear. Yay for leaving no retail stone unturned. And I also thank you for the report; clearly Le Chateau has more quailty than meets the eye if you only go by the offerings at the Kingston store!

    These are lovely tops, Sveta.

Sus, they are woven silk body with knit rayon bands on the bottom, sleeves and neck. I think the quality is very nice for $40 price tag (actually it says $69 on the actual tag but $39 on the site. Looks like web prices are lower than in the store!
Their quality does differ, I have 2 satin silk tunics  which are really nice and I also bought  a silk shirt I had to return because thin silk was easily snagged. As Angie says never leave the retail stone unturned...

Those are great on you. I think they will work with much of your wardrobe. Love that shade of blue. Tops that are beautiful alone or layered can be hard to find. Enjoy these.

score!  love that blue.  the white and light grey is a genius combo.

is it pool weather there already?

  • Joy replied 10 years ago

They both look lovely on you, and coral would also be beautiful. It will be fun to see these in your WIWs.

That is a wonderful buy! I love them both, but frankly I have such a sugar eye for that blue color that I'd be hard pressed to tell if it actually didn't suit someone. I think you should go for the third color as well. We know you look great in coral and these will be workhorses I think. Love that the body of the top is woven, nice and cool!

    I love these on you.

Both colours look great on you Sveta. I'm tempted by the coral one myself but trying to exercise a little restraint here. After I scoped out LeChateau for you, I happened to wander into Zara and came away with the cream kimono that Suz and Glory have. Now trying to decide just exactly what "wardrobe hole" that item might fill :-).

    Silk sweatshirts- how luxurious!
Both look great on you- I'm crazy about the blue color.

  • lyn67 replied 10 years ago

Both look fab Sveta, I love the elbow length sleeve and the drape very much, and  would buy it in a coral, too:-)

These are both perfection on you Sveta - both in color and in fit. I can see these working with almost all of your skirts/trousers/jeans.

Great advice too from missvee - YLF rocks!
