K / R: Pastel blue and pink Zara blazers

I had a history with this blue Zara blazer with gathered sleeves. First I saw it on Angie's post and thought that I love the color and the sleeves look interesting but I am not sure if they will work for my wide shoulders and if pale blue color is flattering for me. Then during our Toronto meetup I saw it in XL size and tried it on. I was amazed that this light blue color is actually flattering for me and that gathered sleeves look pretty good as well - and it was confirmed by my fab shopping mates Nicole, Emily, merwoman, Katie and Ami.
What I was not sure about was the length...so I did not get it.
Last weekend in Boston I decided to ask Angie's opinion. Unfortunately that store did not have blue in my size so I tried on the yellow. Amazingly it got approval from Angie as well - including the color which I thought is too bright for me. I did not get it again because I wanted blue and I already have a citron blazer.
So is third time the charm?  I have ordered the blue one from Zara...but I also ordered this pink one... and now I cannot decide which one to keep!
Pink is longer and more classic in shape but has regular sleeves.
Blue is a bit shorter but I love the sleeve shape.

Both of them work with dresses and skirt but what about pants?
Which should I keep - blue? pink?...or both?

Oh, and bonus - my new Lord&Taylor tee I got today. Our fab Shannon is always finding treasures at The Bay so I tried it today too. The black pattern on the front is made from black sequins and beads so even if this is a t-shirt material it looks dressy enough for me to feel myself in it. What do you think?

Love both of those jackets on you. I think both will work with pants. The blue one I like because of the sleeves. The pink is such a soft summer color that I don't think you can go wrong. You wear both colors well. Life the new tee!

  • Beth Ann replied 10 years ago

Beautiful jackets, Sveta.  I like the color and sleeves of the blue best, but the softness of the pink and it's drape and length are fab, too.

Which would be most of a boost to your wardrobe?  Would both have a welcome home?

  • Eliza replied 10 years ago

Not too much help, as each color is beautiful on you. I like the shape of both jackets, with a slight edge to the pink one, as to me it is simultaneously very much today, yet seems likely to have a bit more longevity. It may be tempting to keep them both, as they each work well on you and could play different wardrobe roles. I like them with pants, especially lighter ones. Really says spring.

  • Neel replied 10 years ago

I am in love with how the blue looks on you. Though it is a tad bit shorter it works well over pants IMO. I am not a big fan of the pink. But that's because I am generally not a pink lover.

Which one do you think works best with your closet?

  • Lyn D. replied 10 years ago

I am a huge fan of blue for myself and others, but actually adore the pink jacket here Sveta!
I find the upsweep of the shoulders on the blue distracting, for some reason.

  • Deborah replied 10 years ago

Can you keep both??? I LOVE the blue on you. It is quite a 'sharp' jacket, modern and current, with the puffed shoulder and the shape is very cool. My consideration with this one is it might be a one season wonder. Is that ok with you?

I also LOVE the pink. Much more classic and perhaps a longer term item in your wardrobe.

Do you have a place for both?

  • Golden replied 10 years ago

I agree with keep both if you can. Love the color of the blue and love the shape of the pink.

  • leopardluxe replied 10 years ago

Well I'm probably no help but they both look fab on you --so I'd keep both as long as you'll wear both. I think the pink one *could* end up having more longevity because the shoulder sleeves look more classic to me, as opposed to the blue that has the puff at the top of the shoulder seam --which seems to be more on trend right now, as opposed to timeless.

  • harmonica replied 10 years ago

I agree with Deborah that the pink might have more longevity. BUT I find the blue soooo crisp and sophisticated and is probably the one I love the most --- but both are beautiful pieces!!

Which one makes your heart sing most? Which is differing more from the jackets/blazers you already have?

  • Jjsloane replied 10 years ago

I'm also no help - they both look great to me and are different enough from each other not to count as repeat. I like the tee too it adds something to the look.

  • carolbee replied 10 years ago

Ok, you look brilliant in both, but if there has to be only one, then I vote the blue colour in the pink style!!! But if you are choosing between these two jackets I vote pink, both colours look good on you but as some of the others have said I think the style of the pink will live longer. Love the T.

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

I am on my phone so can't see all that well. Hope to return for a proper view when I have better access. But so far I like them both a lot. Is there room for both?

  • Ingunn replied 10 years ago

I hope you have room for both, because I can't possibly choose. They are both great colors for you. The pale blue is probably a hair better with skirts, but it works really well with pants, too. I LOVE the sleeves. The pink one is more classic and has gorgeous shape and drape. Fab tee, too!

  • Emily replied 10 years ago

I was wondering about that jacket!! The pink and blue both look great on but if you are only keeping one I vote blue for the cool, bold shoulder.  I really like the Lord and Taylor tee.  And lastly, you are rocking the heck out of those flared jeans!  Yowza.

  • TraceyLiz65 replied 10 years ago

Another vote for keeping both as they both look wonderful on you!

  • Runcarla replied 10 years ago

Hard one. Both jackets fit you very well, and the colours are complimentary to you as well. I like the blue colour just a little more than the pink, and the shape of the pink over the blue. Like others have said, the puffed sleeves and shorter length of the blue jacket might date is, whereas the straight shoulder and longer length of the second jacket is classic.

These outfit stylings really suit and you are looking very beautiful from head to toe. Flares were invented for you!

  • Susie replied 10 years ago

Wow, Sveta, both of these colors look lovely on you. I prefer the style of the pink but that's just a personal bias against the shoulder of the blue. But it's such a great color that I have to vote both!

  • Karie replied 10 years ago

I saw the yellow one in Boston and thought you looked stunning. In these photos, I do like the longer length of the pink; however, if I just saw the blue on its own, I wouldn't think it was too short. I hope Angie chimes in, I'd love to hear what she has to say.

Fab new L & T tee! We have a L & T re-opening here, I'm going to have to give that store some business!

  • marianna replied 10 years ago

Wow, both blazers look impeccable on you. Crisp and fresh. I vote keep both... :)

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

Well, I'm back on computer and I cannot choose - they both look sensational, as does the tee. I guess it is just a question of picking which one will give you the most fun outfits right now...I wouldn't consider either as an "investment" since Zara is not that type of jacket anyway....Maybe a year or two for either jacket....I see Zara as my opportunity to play with a trend or two....

  • replied 10 years ago

I prefer the pink if you're only choosing one, but really, why not get the pink, the blue, and the yellow?  Love you in these light colors!

  • Angie replied 10 years ago

I love both too. They are quite different.

Are you happier keeping both of these than the blue from Zara and the Blush from BCBG?

  • unfrumped replied 10 years ago

I veer toward flattering over trend, so take that FWIW--I like the pink style shoulder much better than the blue peaked shoulders, which I see as more than a simple pleated shoulder and actually make your shoulders look narrower, and kind of a sci-fi look (that's an exaggeration, of course and is much mitigated by the pretty pastel color) --but, you may be in the market for an architectural twist for a change.
The pink color I like better too because I like that it kind of goes toward blush/nude with black and white so I think it's very versatile-also I think you look more like you, whereas the blue stands out more but again you may have room for multiple pastels. Might also depend on other bottoms you would wear with them?

    YLF,  in any event!

  • Transcona Shannon replied 10 years ago

Wow Sveta! You look fab in both of these. That blue shade is delicious on you and I like both styles. What works with more in your wardrobe?

Love the tee - I'm crazy about quite a bit of the Lord and Taylor line. They have some interesting pieces.

  • rae replied 10 years ago

Hm, I also like both equally on you!

  • Mo replied 10 years ago

No help - I like both, too!  This might be a sign, that every single reply likes both.

  • Janet replied 10 years ago

I've looked a couple of times, and it's a hard call. I have a personal preference for the blue color (not much of a pink person myself, but the color looks beautiful on you). They're both fab. I'm no help!

  • sarah replied 10 years ago

Both are lovely. Sorry to not be much help. I absolutely love them over the column of white. That's a great new tee.

  • columbine(erin) replied 10 years ago

Wow. You really look fab in both! I love them both with the flared jeans especially. You look so tall and elegant. Ever so slightly I love the blue one more.

  • Day Vies replied 10 years ago

You look like an 80's inspired dream ;-)  I like the blue one better -- I think it's the shoulder detail. I also love it paired with the white and black graphic tee. Next to the blue jacket the pink seems so ho hum. Had I seen it on its own I'd probably like it more.

Also I have a pin of you wearing a yellow jacket and I think you look wonderful in yellow so I can see why Angie would give you a thumbs up for the yellow.

  • Sveta replied 10 years ago

No wonder I cannot decide between those two jackets, looks like most of you enable me for both! It does feel that I love both colors equally and I think they both should work well with my spring / summer things...hmmm...my hubby also said to keep both  - should I do like he said? :-)
As Suz pointed Zara's jackets are more of one season fashion fix than investment. It feels that the pink one is a bit better quality than the blue so it may go to another season as well. For $80 I think I will be fine if this blue jacket is for a single season only. i can see that the sleeves can age it next season but I rally love those sleeves. It may be not so obvious from the picture but they are beautifully architectured ( for the lack of better word ). They also don't make my wide shoulders look wider because the "puff" part starts before the shoulder ends.
Angie, I don't know. I decided not to buy BCBG (and Elie Tahari)  jackets this year until my weight is stable: they are too expensive for a one season splurge. I think I will reward myself with such a purchase when I am where I want to be. I was thinking of getting this blue one as a season treat for myself but then i decided to order pink as well... Also you said in the BCBG store that you do like longer jackets on me... you say I listen :-) What would your advice be in this case?
I think I need one more playing session in my wardrobe to decide if one of them is more versatile than the other...decisions... decisions...
Thank you all very much for holding my hand! :-)

  • Angie replied 10 years ago

Got it. Then keep both and enjoy, beautiful Svetlana. xo

  • catgirl replied 10 years ago

All I can say is keep both!

  • Freckles replied 10 years ago

Both are stunning on you but each has it's own seperate vibe.  Keep both if you can...

  • lyn67 replied 10 years ago

Wow, these are trully beautiful! To me they look the best with the white tee and each  bottom shown here. Keep them both!

  • merwoman replied 10 years ago

These are gorgeous on you Sveta - keep both and play with them! That way you'll be all sorted when you want to spend some serious $$$.

  • Lisa replied 10 years ago

Fun jackets.  I like both but if you are only keeping one, I vote the blue.  It is a lovely color on you and I can see it remixing well with your pink (peach?) trousers that you wore last year.  I also like the new white printed top.  A great find!  But what I enjoy most, is everytime you ponder a new addition to your wardrobe, you really analyze the piece and it's place in your closet.  I need to keep this in mind when I shop.  Thanks for the inspiration!

  • texstyle replied 10 years ago

You love both and can afford to keep them both, so why not indulge? I have a slight preference for the pink and I really like the way it looks with the outfits you pictured here. I think pink looks really nice with black and with white/ivory. I also kind of feel like pink is more of a color of the season this year.

  • rachylou replied 10 years ago

I soo want to say the blue, because I'm on a quest for electric powder blue... but once again, I think pink wins.

  • Aida replied 10 years ago

Another no help, because I also vote keep both if you are able! They have different looks, and if you were to have two pastel jackets for the season these would be just the colors I'd pick :) I LOVE the li'l puff shoulder on you!

  • Elle replied 10 years ago

They both look great on you.  I have a very slight preference for the pink on you but it sounds like you are leaning towards the blue because of the sleeves.  You can't go wrong here.

  • Liz A. replied 10 years ago

If you can only take one, I would say the pink simply because it is a little longer and looks great with pants.  Those flares look so amazing on you as well!

  • Joy replied 10 years ago

Another vote to keep both.  I find the blue the most flattering and color and style, but the pink is great on you too.

  • Inge replied 10 years ago

Very late to the party, but I vote keep both, Sveta. They are both stunning on you, and both colours are extremely flattering. And what a marvelous tee also!

  • dustt replied 10 years ago

hubs - says keep both - then definitely keep both - I need to accustom my eye to those sleeves on the blue - I have linebacker shoulders - so I tend to shy away - but it definitely does not make your shoulder line look too broad - it's because of the placement od the shoulder seam - in from the edge - very pretty color on you.  You look beautiful as always in both!!
