Another orange shirt from Costco - what do you think?

I posted about these silk Hilary Radley sleeveless tops here. Unfortunately size M was cut too high under arms which made it uncomfortable for me.
I went back today in hope they restock - but no luck :-( However I liked the orange color so much I decided to give a try to a long sleeved silk shirt. It is the same fabric and color but the cut is simpler. I sized up to XL to get more length and slouch.
My main reservation is the collar. It does not button to the top - I have it buttoned up as much as it goes here. It is possible to add 2 more buttons but there is only one extra button attached... Also is it too short (my usual fear...)

What do you think? Please be brutally honest! Should I keep or return?

I think I need a Costco by me! I like the color, but it is bold and could look like Halloween if not careful. Will you wear such a bold color, and do you care if it is somewhat limited by Halloween connotations?

  • Suz replied 4 years ago

Well, I love it, and I think you could add the one button (if you need to) and find another that would coordinate (if you ever want it buttoned all the way) or simply use a brooch for the top if you so desired. I like the slight high-low cut of it, and I actually like it unbuttoned a bit, as it is here -- at least for spring/ summer wear. In autumn and winter you would possibly be wearing a scarf quite often anyway over the neckline, or a pullover.

Ooh, I quite like it on you Sveta.  I envision it with all sorts of blue shades.  And white.

  • pil replied 4 years ago

Wow, that is pretty Sveta! You could always use a little brooch at the neck.

Thistle, I did not grow up with Halloween so I don't have this association at all. It is a bright color but I think it suits me (unlike neon brights which wash me out) and I like brighter colors for summer.
Suz, it may be the heavy tag attached to a collar but it looks kind of shapeless to me...and I cannot take off the tag to see how it lays without it if I may be returning it...

    Thanks Tanya and pil!

Yes, I understand. I sometimes have that feeling with collars, too. Why don't you consult with your mother about it? She might have a better sense for how it will lie without the tag on it.

I think it is just gorgeous on you. It doesn't look too short, especially if you do a semi-tuck, Maybe a little fashion tape would take the place of a button when needed.

I like it and think the length looks fine.  I like the orange color and the high-low hem.

I think this looks incredible on you and will be great with blues and grays and whites.

I love the colour and the fit!

I'm very modest, and I would personally pass on it because it looks a bit translucent (I can see the details of your cami and even the barcode on the tag).  If that doesn't bother you, keep!

My Costco has never had anything that cool. But hey, the ones in our state don't even have adult beverages. But Las Vegas is only 6 hours away!

ETA: 3.2 beer ≠ adult beverage

  • replied 4 years ago

Heh, we can only buy beer at the Beer Store and Liquor at the LCBO. No alcohol at the grocery store or corner shop (well, except in Quebec).

I really like the orange on you, and the button issue I don't think is a problem.

Will you always be buttoning up the collar? I think it looks nice unbuttoned too. LOVE this colour on you,

  • donnat replied 4 years ago

You know, I love it! I think the color is beautiful on you. I think I am going to go to cost co today.

  • Lisa replied 4 years ago

I like this top as is, it could be a nice change from all your collared and buttoned shirts.  The orange is a great color.

Love the fit and color, definitely not too short (absolutely perfect IMHO) and I like the collar. A total winner!

My one question would be whether or not you really want long sleeves as we head into the heat of summer?

  • DeclawedJaguar replied 4 years ago

Sveta, I think it looks perfect on you! As someone who also did not grow up with Halloween, I love orange as much as you do.  The color is perfect for you, IMHO. Also, the sheerness of it does not bother me at all, and I think it would be an advantage in the summer, because the fabric is so light and breezy.  Are the sleeves scrunchable?

ETA: I just realized that I also bought an orange sleeveless silk top a couple of days ago.  Now if only it would get warm enough to wear it!

I love it on you.  Not sure I see why it needs 2 extra buttons and must be buttoned all the way up - except for recent years' hipster influence? - but certainly I have had many nice blouses that had one special button at the very top.  I like it better than the sleeveless ones and you could, in the heat, loosely roll the sleeves up for that effortless look.
